now that we expect Shulk to show up in Smash4 in a few hows

knowing that all playable Smash characters get an amiibo

amigos work for other games do you think Shulk's amiibo will work for XCX?

will XCX have an amiibo set? I did not think so at first because of customizable character as lead but support or dolls(mechs) amiibos
Scan in Shulk to obtain the Monado, lol.

We could get amiibos of the party members, at least. They should be fixed characters, even if the protagonist is customisable.

Scanning a Shulk Amiibo to set up the MC model to look like Shulk, possibly. That also applies to other characters as well, except for Riki.

As for Riki, scanning his Amiibo will change Tatsu's appearance, maybe? :p

Hopefully they fix the clusterfuck that was Xenoblade's sidequest system. How could anyone possibly discern those friggin lines between hundreds of characters that intersected with one another into something that could be read clearly was something I still do not understand up till today and forevermore.

Not to mention the fact the sidequests often amounted to "Find/Kill X near landmark A" while the reality the X will appear like 100 miles off landmark A AND sometimes it requires specific condition the game didn't bother to mention (day only, specific time only, etc etc)

For those interested, I've put together a MEGA folder containing every piece of media ever released for X:

https://mega.co.nz/#F!d5dyiQRT!ibi49N8FjUSGyuiL5IudfQ

*1st teaser: JPN eShop rip
2nd teaser: EU eShop rip (credit goes to Hero of Legend for this one)
3rd teaser to story trailer: Youtube rip
Treehouse footage: high quality Twitch rip (better than the Youtube crap, at least)*
**Treehouse footage was uploaded in split 7z archives; I trust you guys know how to handle those.**
***Quality of 3rd gameplay teaser, even at 720p, is absolute dogshit. Unfortunately, that's the best I could do given what's available. Nintendo really has to do something about the quality of the footage they release.***

Excellent. This will certainly save my bandwidth by having a good local copy of these videos. I wish the YouTube version of this didn't look so washed out.

Mind you, it's not a world of difference, but there's less compression artifacting than there is in the Youtube vids from what I've seen.

Does anyone have any idea what the music will be like?

The music was such a huge part of the first game for me. I hope this game's music is on par. From the Treehouse demo, the music on the planet sounds sort of 'tribal' for the lack of a better term.

i'm a little bumped that there was zero media coverage for this after e3. was hoping for a takahashi interview.

Hopefully they're still working on touching up the graphics, which is about the only other thing I want. Everything else looks great. A release date would be nice but I think that might be too much to ask for.

Sawano is generally reliable. He doesn't inspire quite as much confidence as Xenoblade's amazing team, but Takahashi probably knew exactly what he was getting when he hired him. Some recommendations from his other stuff...

The composer for this game is Hiroyuki Sawano. You can look up him here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroyuki_Sawano. IMO he is great at making you pumped. His music will shine in cut scenes and battles.

Thanks for this dude!

Since I'm pretty far into Xenogears now I gave the story trailer a rewatch. I already knew there were a ton of similarities but wow, it really does look like something out of Perfect Works.

Can't wait until we start seeing some official wallpapers or really high res vids / pictures for this. :D

It definitely seems like they're pulling a lot of ideas from their concept for Episode 1 of Gears.
Do we know where the videos on the eShop are being pulled from? Are they just the youtube videos or something else?
Pretty sure they're direct capture since they are higher quality than YT.

So do you guys think they'll stick with British voice actors or move to more "standard" American ones? I personally think that a lot of the charm of Xenoblade came from the British voice acting, so I'm not sure if I'd like a change in this.

I'd love it if the British VA remained, but I'm not optimistic - not only is this being considered for a US release from the outset, but several of the principal characters are explicitly American colonists from Neo Los Angeles. Perhaps they'll just go the Star Wars route and have the humans be Americans and the Growth British.

Would make much more sense for an American localization. It was fine for Xenoblade, but when your characters are explicitly from American backgrounds, there's a clear and really obvious disconnect that I don't think would be intended.

KI:U leaves me confident that Treehouse knows their shit when casting voices.

No, Johnny Yong Bosch has to be in this one.

I'm with you on this one. The localisation of Xenoblade was relatively well done, and featured voice actors I simply hadn't heard before. The accents weren't a huge thing for me, as it just sounded "normal" for me. NoA also doesn't have the greatest track record with voice acting and they also dip into the pool of VA usual suspects. If they are in charge this time around, I can't help but be a bit hesitant. Given how the story seems to be about a crash-landed American ship and "Neo Los Angeles", the chances of Troy Baker and/or Johnny Yong Bosch are considerable.

I think NOA has done some outstanding jobs at North American VAs lately.
Especially with Kid Icarus Uprising.

But I agree with Golnei. The Humans should be American and the other race should be British.

Any chance these videos were made by a GAFer =P? Surprised it hasn't been posted on here, they seem to have been made by someone from Japan that knows the Xeno lore well as well.

They are good and deep information that could be drawn from the trailers etc, #2 has spoilers for Xeno series, mind (Guy started with the narrator to voice the first video, second one hired a professional narrator to read it XD):

Xenoblade Chronicles X Analysis: #1 DOLL
Xenoblade Chronicles X Analysis: #2 WORLDVIEW
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Opening & NLA cut scene w English subtitles

Channel also did a remix of Xenoblade's soundtrack

So, today I had a good listen to the opening narration, and it seems that...
iFPWC1yraLyjA.jpg

All this time, I've been mishearing "atama (beginning, first) no moji (letter) o" for "atama (head) no mojuru (module)". What that means is that there are no head implants, and I've been mistaken with most of my BLADE-related posts. It's just an organization and/or company. There's probably more to it than that, but that's all we know with any kind of certainty for now.

Apologies to anyone I mislead with my phenomenal derp. :P

His Doll analysis is okay, with the exception of him labeling this guy
as a crossbreed. Not sure how he came to that conclusion, when the more likely explanation would be that he's an alien turncoat (in fact, there's mention of a traitor in the story trailer).

That could explain why the humans have this machine fighting on their side

that's clearly not a Doll or of earthly origin (I do agree that senior Horns could've been its pilot).

His second analysis, though... That one falls apart in a bunch of major areas. For one thing, Xenoblade's connection to X has been explicitly refuted by the Treehouse guys. Secondly, using an Easter egg to elicit continuity between the two games makes for a pretty weak argument, I'd say. Not going to bother debunking the entire video (not that I can; there is stuff worth seeing in it), but if you're going to watch it, I would suggest going in weary.

One last thing I want to bring up:

If we can distinguish races by the aesthetics of their technology, then it's possible that we might have a fourth one (fifth, if you count the Nopon) on our hands. Could be that it belongs to a separate catalog of machines home to one of the two alien races, of course. It could also be that this is native technology (as we've seen that there's all sorts of machinery and whatnot that predates humanity's arrival on Mira).

Thanks so much for sharing these! The videos are really well done and pointed out a lot of small things I hadn't noticed before. Not to mention the remixed Xenoblade music which is awesome!

Random thought just occurred to me: I'm still annoyed that they're introducing level-gated equips in this game, and wondered why they would. Then I realized; what if there's PvP, and it's there to avoid twinking? Still would be just as opposed to it, but what else would prompt them to make that sort of change?
probably lots of other reasons, but who knows

I posted the first one 5 posts above yours. :p

I quite like them. Can't wait until we get more details directly from Takahashi & co, but until then these are nice.

Also that Agni Ratha remix is really good.

TBH I think they want to make it clear that anyone can pick this up even if they haven't played the previous installments, not that Takahashi will not bring back the themes that are already quite explicitly present. I doubt they'd know if he's doing anything deliberately. I mean, the argument from some Xeno fans is that Xenoblade is not connected the the rest of the games, but this game might end up changing that in at least some respect.

Anyway, I can't wait for the next video. Ever since the Treehouse demo I've been wanting an in-depth analysis of what they played.

Thanks to you too then! Sorry I missed your post. And about the slow news...that's probably the hardest part since MonolithSoft was acquired by Nintendo. Usually by now we'd have something. A website with character profiles and Tanaka illustrations at least. But with Nintendo's tight-lipped, conservative approach to releasing information on their games it's hard to tell how this game is making progress.

Definitely, they should at least give us a little something in between the directs featuring the games. I would love to see the 2D Tanaka designs right about now :(
