Right before E3 this year, didn't he also get Mii Fighter by that exact name? That's a point in his favor. But yeah, he's done a good bit of BSing. He probably saw "character from Awakening" and just assumed it was Chrom, and the whole "enjoy my good friend shulk!!" thing was totally made up because he thought he was safe.
That said, I still think he's right that Shulk and Chorus Men (or perhaps Marshal) will be on the roster.
That doesn't mean the leak is totally dead and buried; it doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing deal. All it means is he had a little bit of info and then made some stuff up on top of it.
Also, explosive fireballs. On another note, that game has fucking awesome music. It's all so fast paced and playful.

There are multiple leaks, 4 if I'm not mistaken right? Maybe 5?
So far Gematsu was wrong about Chrom and Shulk reveal. Thats two things. And I wouldn't use the qualifier incredibly.
Chrom does have a model in the game.
He was considered at early stages.
A reveal trailer can be easily swapped for another assuming they are both completed.
None of the leakers wrong predictions hinder his other predictions null and void. The leaker has been right about 8+ things right?

There is a reason why I have a feeling that DLC characters wouldn't happens because I'm pretty sure that Nintendo and Bandai-Namco might be done with Smash at once the game went gold, but I couldn't foresee that they would postpone BN's games any longer to focus on Smash DLC characters. Colored me surprise if it happened.

For Tiki: the theme was from Fire Emblem Awakening.
For Pseudo-Palutena: The theme was from Kid Icarus UpRising.
For FI: The theme was from Zelda Skyward Sword.
For King KIhunter: the theme was from Metroid Other M.
So if there is a logical, the metroid character will come from other m and the zelda one will be from Skyward sword.

Here's the thing about leakers, if you say something is going to for sure happen, you kind of implicitly stake that on everything you've been right about before.
Chrom wasn't planned. Sakurai said he was looking at Awakening characters and thought Chrom would be boring.
The leaker was right about some things and wrong about others. That means he or she has no longer been completely right. So that casts a shadow of doubt on any past predictions that have still not been verified.
Because we live and feed off speculation, theories, ideas, and something to think about.

I take everything in the Gematsu leak with a grain of salt. None of it is confirmed, but its a strong prediction with insider knowledge, imo. A reveal trailer could be switched at the drop of a hat if both are complete. Perhaps Sakurai saw the leak and changed his mind to pull one over on us and the leaker. That could be a bit of a stretch, but it is possible.
Well, it sounds like they're 'done' with the game now and are just in the 'debugging' phase, according to sakurai at E3.
This means that they have 2 choices:
- Move the artists/new feature team onto other projects or end their contracts (or fire them
). - Have them work on DLC for smash.
4-6ish months is probably enough for a dlc character or two

I can't help but think that there's something up with the villains.
Wario, Ganondorf, Meta Knight, Wolf, Mewtwo, (Ridley? Demise...?). There's an unrevealed villain for each of the most important series.

Sure, but either way it's not something we can really count on anymore.
If I had to guess I'd say they had some access to PR materials from last year's E3 and then made some shit up on top of that.

I know the leaker has inside knowledge; I believe that much is irrefutable. But I think his or her info is old. I think the leaker has no more ammo. I would bet money that those two characters are in the game. But Chrom is a profound mistake, that indicates the information the leaker has is old. Very old. Chrom, from the sound of Sakurai's column, didn't even make it into the development phase.
The leaker was right about things, but going forward I don't feel it's a valid way I thinking about things.

When the second leak came out, my theory was that he had insider information on the roster that was not quite complete. After all, he didn't list "Greninja," he listed "Pokemon from X/Y." I was suggesting he saw that there was a Rhythm Heaven representative, found Chorus Kids on Google or something, and concluded that it was them. It could be the same for Chrom, he saw that there was a character from Fire Emblem Awakening, but incorrectly assumed that it was Chrom. He wouldn't have done this for Greninja because there were so many new Pokemon in X & Y that it was basically impossible to make any sort of educated guess.
I don't think it's gonna be Chorus Kids, it's probably someone else (since at this point, it's likely that there's a Rhythm Heaven rep anyway). I'm not gonna take those "this character will be revealed on this date" statements at face value, either, since this isn't the first time he's been wrong (he said Pac-Man, Little Mac, and Miis would be at last year's E3). However, I still think he has some credibility left, but significantly less.
By the way, if my theory is correct, then Shulk will be in. He's the protagonist of Xenoblade, he has potential for a unique moveset, and he'd be the first Xenoblade character in the series.
It would have to be a character called chorus men, not just a rhythm heaven rep.
Also shulk is a pretty easy character to predict anyway.
Yea, it is odd. The only villains revealed are Bowser and Dedede. There is also who is a villain Donkey Kong in a sense.

Except that they did, 100% amount to everything. All the villains in the cloud were all the villains from subspace.
Bowser, Ganondorf, Master Hand, and Ridley were all villains in subspace.

Funnily enough, all the characters in those clouds in that image were all enemies in subspace emissary.

...That actually wouldn't be all that bad. The roster so far's been fantastic, having Impa / Toon Zelda, Dark Pit / Medusa etc. as clones on top of that would be fairly welcome.
I can only imagine the salt if he is a boss and Rool is a trophy.
Why are you so sure of this? That's saying it was an easy decision to pick Robin over him when in the article Sakurai says the exact opposite. Chrom was still the natural choice for an Awakening character and not being chosen does not equal not being considered

Given that we already know Rhythm Heaven stuff is in the new game, I think Chorus Men is really likely. Shulk remains to be seen, but I think something from Xenoblade will make it in given the popularity of the game.
As far as any other new characters, still betting on Donkey Kong getting a newcomer but that's about it given how we are approaching the end of the newcomer trailers. (unless some of them are kept secret)

Well, he does moonlight as a tyrannical dictator from time to time. He's more of a villain than Dedede, at least.

Outdated argument in defense if that leak does not work because the leaker claimed 100% that Shulk would be shown on Monday. That implies they are still up to date, however, they were flat out wrong, and there was no last minute change because the magazine article was already set up to have Robin and Lucina to compliment the online reveal.

He's sketchy, but the only time he was a true antagonist was in Kirby Super Star. Everywhere else he's helping you out in his own way. He'd be a true good guy if he'd just get over his crippling shyness.
Dedede's kind of the same way, but he plays antagonist more often than not because he just wants to get that there Kirby.

Please point out to me Ganondorf and Master Hand. All I see are dubious depictions of Bowser and Ridley in a split-second screen capture.
