While I absolutely LOOOOVED banjo kazooie when they came out and would have definitely loved them in smash 64/melee, they definitely don't generate the excitement that they did 15+ years ago. The only reason they'd be an amazing inclusion is because of all the hoops nintendo would have had to jump through to get them in, not because they're particularly relevant anymore.

Yeah, I feel like Brawl would have been an amazing time to include them. At this point I think a lot of people have lost attachment to the character.



Also, to address another post from someone else, I'm not sure Snake's return would generate more hype than Mewtwo's. It would definitely be a big deal though.

And was Mario Sports Mix any good/decent? Mario Hoops was barely passable (the Mario Kart battle mode esque multiplayer was fun at least), and I never heard anything from Sports Mix.

I would totally be cool if the people who make Guilty Gear and Blaz Blue got the rights to do a 2D fighting game using the Fire Emblem franchise. Nintendo seems pretty happy to let 3rd parties work on their franchises (Pokemon Conquest, Hyrule Warriors, SMT X FE) and that just seems like a match made in heaven. Or a Fire Emblem Musou

It's remarkably average. The minigames are more fun than the sports and unlocking stuff is an absolute chore.

That was hyperbole. I can't begin to make any kind of accurate guess as to how long these things take in terms of actual man hours. And as I said I doubt it'll happen.

But Boco is a Chocobo and we know that Chocobo's can also be Black Mages.
Mog can use a spear and can Dance.

So I think the argument for people who don't really follow Nintendo or are disillusioned with Nintendo is that the new character picks aren't "iconic" Nintendo characters to them. This dovetails in to one of the bigger Nintendo complaints, that they aren't making new IPs and characters, so every new Smash Bros. is going to have characters that they consider reaching because, in their eyes, Nintendo output has just been Mario and Zelda for the last generation.

To someone that doesn't follow Nintendo and never played Fire Emblem Awakening, announcing two characters from the game might be a "Really, you do this but don't have (insert character from youth) yet?" thing.

This sounds like a new form of:

Person A: Why hasn't Nintendo made any new IPs in the last X years
Person B: They have! See_________________
Person A: Those don't count
Person B: Why?
Person A: REASONS!

Realistically Mewtwo is probably the only major Nintendo character left that I can think of with mass market appeal and global appeal that could generate that kind of buzz for the game before launch. Or Snake if he is coming back and Sakurai/Kojima decided to troll and reveal him last minute for "kept you waiting huh" lulz

Unrealistically, Cloud from FF7 (thanks to KH:CoM he's eligible), Zero from MMX, Goku from DBZ, honestly you could put almost any extremely popular character here and it's generate a crazy amount of hype

A Fire Emblem fighting game would be sweet but I dunno if I'd want Arc to do it. I loved me some Guilt Gear in the past and I'm looking forward to Xrd but Blazblue and Persona don't do much for me :/

Easy when you switch between the two the anouncer says Ninten or Ness.

Realistically there could be some relatively simple changes to Ness' model to distinguish between the two. Pacman eyes, Red socks, hat spun the opposite direction (in smash Ness hat is spun to his right while in the art Ninten's is spun to his left), larger blue stripes on his shirt, rosy cheeks, and thinner hair compared to Ness' fluffy hair.

Personally speaking, Crono would probably be my first choice, but I think Black Mage would be great for representing Square as a whole. Black Mage is generic, but it's because he defined that style of wizard for video games.

The difference is pretty big and being able to play that style with the new Characters I like is a lot of fun. The changes to snake actually work out pretty great.

Well aside from his claymore you have to roll out quick or it blows you up.
