NA West 1 was started 3 days ago and we are on NA West 2 now. You can see it under 'my groups' or 'my clan'.

Log out of Bungie.net & PSN. Turn off the Destiny Application before logging out of PSN. Log back into Bungie.net and then back into PSN and then start the Beta.

I hit request join and it says I have an invitation pending. How am I messing this up?

As for the clan tags, i´m not sure but i do see more and more people with them ingame, so maybe it´s a db issues where it is just now starting to catch up.

Remember to set your clan for PS or Xbox in the group, but it´s a bit broken ingame atm, some of use get tags some don´t yet.

Bungie decided to cap clans at 75 members per platform. They have grouped PS3 & PS4 into "PlayStation" and have grouped X360 & XOne into "Xbox." Since there seems to be no plans to change this, we met and decided to have multiple sub clans, capped at roughly 75 members total and then have them join in an alliance with the primary group. That way everyone would be part of the same group AND have the 'DGAF' clan tag that we made. Since PlayStation is so popular currently, most of our current filled sub clans have ~70 PS people and only ~5 XB people. Do not worry though - as you will ALL still be able to play together! This splitting is done to reduce complications for us. You will join the primary DestinyGAF group as well as a region to set your clan in.
Can't access Bnet on my phone currently as Sprint's network blows chunks, and work firewalls are worse.
Is there any chance you could take this as my formal application for North American Central 2? (I'm already in Primary.)

Is there any reason why you don't just put all the XB pepole into the same sub clan or clans? If in-game clan chat or anything like that is affected in any meaningful way, it would make much more sense to have all the XB folks in the same sub-clan so we actually see each other's clan chat and such, not to mention reaping the cumulative rewards if 'clan level' in the game impacts gameplay, in which case being splintered into various sub-clans could negatively impact our exprience in-game.
I've only dabbled on the PS4 beta and won't be sinking my teeth in until the 23rd so forgive me if all this is irrelevant and having the sub-clans join the alliance allows for all of this to be a moot point.
