You have to go into Wii Mode. I think you can view Wii games on the Gamepad but I'm not sure the buttons are usable for the actual game (Just acts like a TV?)
I think you're right. You'll need a Wiimote and I guess a Classic Controller to play

According to this FAQ page, you do need to have your Wii U linked.
Has anyone here gotten a code without having their Wii U yet? I don't want to waste a chance at a free game.
Hmmm, I'd still like some confirmation from someone that has done it.They mentioned to linked the CN account to WiiU because if you are planning to buy a digital copy. Since you will get a physical copy, you don't necessarily needed to do that.

I sent Zing the Animal Crossing to a family member of his whom is visiting in a few weeks..so all is good! Stupid Club Nintendo not allowing people to ship to Canada is ridiculouz

Thanks.I can confirm it: you don't need a Wii U linked to claim your free game; I got my code before I had a Wii U.
It's misleading. Anything they list as for both Wii and Wii U is actually just a Wii virtual console game. Can anyone please tell me:
The Paper Mario that's being offered on Club Nintendo right now is listed as being for Wii and Wii U. So if I got it for the Wii U, is that on the eShop and playable on the gamepad? I hope so but don't want to waste that many coins to find out.... It's the only PM I've never played
Thanks.
(I'm still gonna need to pick up a Wii U before October though I guess. :/)

A shame because I would totally give a Wii U native version a try.
My concern is that Wii VC will not be available on Nintendo's next system. They have already stated future systems will be using the Wii U programming API. Unless they have a complete change of management style and actually update all the old Wii VC, it will be rendered useless.
When does Nintendo update items in the rewards section and I don't mean the games - would love to get a game case for my 3ds games.
Whenever they find some extra stuff in the basement to put on there. Based on the last few updates I suspect the basement is either empty or got flooded.
Between the disappointing platinum reward and the almost complete lack of physical items in the catalog, I expect there will be much lower participation for the rest of this year.
First TWO to quote gets a free club nintendo code. No idea what game it's from or if it's been used. When you get the code; please post to say the name of the game it was from [if it worked]

I exited out of the tab that had the download code for Donkey Kong Country Returns and haven't received a confirmation e-mail (~20 minutes later). Is there any way I can find that code? :/
Click "Account & Coins" at the top right and then go to "Order Inquiries."
Doesn't show up. But it shows up as redeemed on "Coins and Status." Dafuq

I think he hits the nail on the head. If you had enough points to be Platinum/Gold then you probably own most, if not all, of the free games.

I totally disagree. I did not own most of them and I hit Plat easily every year and have a ton of codes saved up to boot. People exaggerate how hard it is to plat every year. It's actually quite easy if you purchase the hardware when it comes out and a few games every year and do your surveys. If you hit Plat or get close early on then don't register anything else until the new year starts and then you can shift the points to the next year.
Now, if you primarily play games on other platforms and only rarely buy the occasional game for your Nintendo, then I would say it is probably more difficult but then again I don't think CN is set up to reward people like you.

I partly agree. I already had DKCR on Wii (though considering I didn't have the 3DS version & wouldn't mind replaying w/o motion controls, that was my choice), I have 4 of the NES titles offered thanks to the 3DS Ambassador (Metroid, Ice Climbers, Super Mario Bros, & Zelda 2), I got the 3D Classics version of Kid Icarus for pre-ordering Uprising, I had Game & Wario previously, I already have Earthbound & NES Remix, I have the physical version of Wario Land 2 (but I would have downloaded it if I didn't), and I got SML2: 6 Golden Coins on 3DS as well. So that's 11 games/versions that I already own in some form or another out of the 16 games possible.Boogie (Francis) mentions the Club Nintendo rewards from this year on his recent video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvoMGDVy3Zw

Call them, There's only one trigger that lets Club Nintendo you bought something, once you buy/redeem a code the program has no way to know you bought it (which sucks), at least not for promotions afaik.I apologize if this has been answered before, but my brother bought MK8 digitally but didn't have his CN account linked. Is there an easy way to rectify this, or is calling Nintendo the only answer?

Well I can't agree with that at all. I only had 3 of those games. Bought NES Remix, Metroid was free, and Dillion was a ClubNintendo reward. People just upset that they don't get something to collect dust.
I could argue that a digital game, once I complete it &/or get bored with it, it'll just collect digital dust in one of my folders. Though I wish they'd do what's described below.Well I can't agree with that at all. I only had 3 of those games. Bought NES Remix, Metroid was free, and Dillion was a ClubNintendo reward. To each their own. I keep about 7 or 8 gaming-related OSTs in the car for when I drive around, most of which were either from LEs or pre-order bonuses (& that's only about half of what I own). Though I do agree with your idea. They should do it like they did last year, where you had the option of a digital game or the physical reward. Or heck, do it like the first year where it was a game that was actually exclusive. Club Nintendo JPN already does this with their normal rewards, and it's a mix of both digital and physical copies. That way, people would still get the feeling they're getting something special/exclusive. I think the mixture of digital games & physical rewards was the best solution since it made the most amount of people happy, even if the actual prizes/games might not have pleased everyone.Exactly. This years rewards were the best ever. Do people seriously want an OST? I've had mine and they are just in the closet. Absolutely useless. I think the best approach would be to give platinum users two choices; gold one, with one of those choices being eshop credit to be used toward whatever they'd like.
I was totally and utterly satisfied with the Platinum rewards this year. I detest statues (though the Yoshi plush looked adorable).
Never would have bought Game & Wario unless it was sub 10 bucks, so now I get it for free. It's not like anyone is forcing you to register your games, and if you bought games you didn't actually want to rack up points to win a mystery prize, then it's your own fault.
