Trails in the Sky: FC on Steam/GOG July 29th

$20 seems like a steal to me, I'd have happily paid twice that. I can't remember the last time I've been looking forward to a game this much.

Oh man, this is such weird timing. I was waiting for the PC version but last night I finally decided to just grab the PSP version next time it goes on sale, thinking it would happen first anyway. Then I wake up to this!

Now I don't know what to do. Kinda tempted to still go PSP for my first playthrough and just double dip on PC later on.

Awesome, I was thinking of getting this on my Vita a while ago but I'd rather it on Steam. Might be a good game to load on the HTPC + controller.

Don't know or care if my laptop will even run this, buying purely out of love for this series and (vain) hope for getting the others localised

It's happening! :D I feel like I've been waiting forever. I'll definitely pick this up (and SC of course). I can't believe it's in a week or so, whoa.

Really awesome to see so much excitement for this. I'm fighting sleep to get some stuff done for Volcynika's OT but I'm hitting the sack now.

The Japanese PC release is better than that IMO.

Unreleased tracks?!?

HHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGHHHH

I don't get it. There's nothing wrong with that cover from what I can see? Is it just a preference for not-quite-silhouettes over the typical super-happy-anime look?

Estelle's not SHOUTING. This is misrepresenting her as her not shouting.

So, why is this game so good?

It's a throwback-minded JRPG that many claim to want.

It's got a clever, simple, direct battle system that many claim to want.

It's got absolutely no broken-minded PG-rated perversion stuff that many claim to not want.

It's got a legitimately huge world that makes more sense the deeper you delve into it that many claim to want.

It's got great tuuuuuuuuuuuunes.

Yeah, I guess I'm finally going to give this thing a try, it's been poking at me since 2004.

It's not what I want out of Falcom, to be honest, but I'm willing to see if it can live up to the hype.

Probably the most real-deal RPG I've played since Suikoden II. Will be double dipping, for sure. One of my favorite RPG/PSP/Falcom/Whatever games of all time. Enjoy it ya'll for those who have yet to experience this big guy.

Thank you for the GOG release!! :D

I'll definitely buy it on day 1 :)

I'm so happy!! Can't wait to replay it in preparation for SC!

EIDT: I just noticed that FC on Steam is region locked in Japan, not cool, not cool at all. I hope SC will be released on GOG as well

I'd say go with the PC one unless you really want to play it on a handheld, because it really is the definitive version of the game. Looks better, runs better, translation errors of varying degrees of severity fixed, and the few terms that have been changed for the PC version will be kept this way going forward.

That's actually available on iTunes right now. It's really interesting, since there's a few unused tracks on there that I'm surprised didn't get used (such as a second mountain climbing theme which would've fit Bose/Ravennue, character leitmotifs for Cassius and Agate, a much funkier take on probably a Zeiss theme, an Earthbound-esque dungeon theme that I bet would've been used in the Penguin Dungeon, and an additional harmonica song for Joshua).

Yeah, a big part of it is that I love playing this kind of retro RPGs on my Vita. I'm also not a big fan of splitting series across multiple platforms and, unless I'm mistaken, I believe some of the later Kiseki titles are Vita exlusives? I'm probably jumping the gun thinking that far ahead though.

Either way, I'll definitely want to grab the Steam versions at some point so I guess I might as well just get this one now.

Well, that was a surprise. I guess I'll drop everything to play this, Dark Souls can wait, at least I'll be on break for one more week when it comes out.

Nah, there aren't any Vita exclusive Kiseki games. It's the only platform that can play at least one version of every game in the series though, although that's just true for Japan; I really can't see XSEED bothering with the PSP version of 3rd for example, if they were to do it at all.

FC - PC, PSP, PS3
SC - PC, PSP, PS3
3rd - PC, PSP, PS3
Zero - PSP, Vita, PC
Ao - PSP, Vita
Sen - Vita, PS3

Hoping Ao will get a PC version too (there is one in Chinese that Falcom could release, it's just if they will or not) considering that'd be the easiest one for XSEED to release.

Oh right, forgot that Sen is also on PS3. When I said exclusive, I really meant not on PC. Sorry!

Is the PC version of Zero based on the original PSP release or the Vita remake?

Yeah... it makes no sense to bring the third one on the only platform where all the games are available...

I won't be buying this game on PC, but hope you guys enjoy it.
