It would be funny if there was a Dutch poster here, but it doesn't seem like it?
Hahaha, always amused by the Dutch name. Sounds like a drunk guy from northern Germany trying to say "Dorfbewohner"![]()
I agree with the premise of your post but I disagree with Takamaru. Hes been showing up recently in Nintendoland, Samurai Warriors 3 and Captain Rainbow. Hardly major roles but Smash has always had a tradition of bringing out classic characters like Ice Climbers, Mr. G&W and Pit for example. King K Rool and Waluigi are not remotely in the same grouping that I'd put Takamaru in. King K Rool and Waluigi are characters in a spinoff series that were created by outside gaming studios that have never had a starring role in a title. So I started this long ass post to make a claim as to why Daisy wouldn't have stood a chance at getting in Smash over Rosalina... but it kind of morphed into a more general discussion on Smash 4's roster picks as a whole.
If you wonder why popular fan picks like Waluigi, K. Rool, Takamaru, etc. were all shot down, it is because those characters just werent important to Nintendo and their games in the last few years. Like it or not, every newcomer that has been chosen for Smash 4 so far happens to share the same characteristic (another one is that they all make unique fighters) of having recently been put in the spotlight via high profile games in popular franchises. The exceptions to this rule are Mega Man and Pac-Man, but those two being 3rd party characters were chosen more on their relevance to Nintendo history and icon status rather than what theyre doing now.
Starting off we have Villager representing Animal Crossing which is a series that has quickly climbed the ladder to be one of Nintendos most popular IP at the moment. New Leaf was a big hit on the 3DS, and its not surprising to see it get a lot of nods here. Miis have been popping up everywhere like them or not, and Wii Fit being a hugely popular game makes the Wii Fit Trainer a relevant pick. Greninja, Palutena, (in her current incarnation) Robin, and Lucina are all popular characters that have come from the latest installments in their respective franchises on 3DS. With Little Mac Im positive that the Wii reboot of Punch-Out!! is most likely to thank for getting him a playable spot on the roster while other classic characters like Takamaru are left out.
Long story short, some characters just arent going to make it into the roster if they havent done squat in recent Nintendo games. As much as Id love to see K. Rool become playable in Smash, Dixie Kong will almost assuredly get in first thanks to her appearance in Tropical Freeze. (Although Sakurai may not have been aware of that game while he was planning Smash 4's roster) With F-Zero and Star Fox taking hiatus recently, I dont think anyone will be surprised to see no newcomers from those series either. Coincidentally, rumored newcomers like Shulk and Chorus Men also follow this pattern that other new additions to Smash 4 do.Mewtwo also is newly relevant thanks to X + Y but I'm trying not to get my hopes up for that one.
For all I know Bubbles from Clu Clu Land could be announced next week and toss my entire line of thinking out the window, but I just found it interesting that the roster seems comprised of characters that became relevant mostly between the end of Brawl's development and the beginning of Smash 4's.
Man, now I want Super Dutch Bros mode where everyone wears funny wooden shoes :-\
I have no idea what the deciding factor was. Ice Climbers got into Melee based on a game from 1985. Little Mac is vastly more popular for his appearance in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out than his appearance in the Wii game, but the Wii game does give him some recent relevance... Just not much. That sentence probably isn't true for every character in or likely to appear in this game (such as Shulk) but I think you understand the point I was trying to make. That is, unless your going to argue that Punch-Out Wii wasn't a deciding factor on Little Mac getting into Smash 4's roster?
It's not popular, but it's currently relevant, seeing as XC:X is coming out soon. Also, Xenoblade is apparently now a popular franchise.
And we all secretly know that German is the drunk Dutch accent.
You're right, the joke's a bit tapped outDon't clog up the thread with these jokes, man.
While it definitely isn't as good as the Wii U version, I don't think it's that bad. Nobody was really expecting it to look as good anyways. Still looks fun though, I'm sure I'll play there plenty because <3 Mega Man

I don't find it confusing at all. ROB is an important part of Nintendo's history. He's in for the same reason as Mr. Game and Watch. Now ROB for Brawl, that one's pretty confusing too =P

Hmmm
That 3DS stage leak had "Wily" as one of it's stages. http://ssb4dojo.com/post/88984765921/rumor-mill-crashandcortexs-leak
May be legit after all, or just a lucky guess
People's weren't expecting a Wii U stage to look as good on the 3DS, in fact because they expect that they were expecting a unique 3DS stage. While it definitely isn't as good as the Wii U version, I don't think it's that bad. Tis my point.I don't find it confusing at all. ROB is an important part of Nintendo's history. He's in for the same reason as Mr. Game and Watch.
Not really. Look at Mr. G&W. He also made appearances in other titles such as MKDS, Kirby and I guess in some way you could count Star Fox.Now ROB for Brawl, that one's pretty confusing too =P
That'd be a pretty dull roster dominated by generic male characters, tbh. I couldnt imagine smash without Zelda, Peach, and yes even Jigglypuff.Sometimes I think it would've been better if Smash stuck to one character per series (except perhaps for its poster-boy Mario), as that would've opened up more possibilities.
You're saying "we haven't seen this yet, so it can't happen, even though it happened for previous games."What does a veteran character decided for in Melee have to do with anything? I'm specifically talking about Smash 4.
No info on the POTD yet? Or did I missed it?
For the record, I made a long essay about how I thought Rosalina had a strong chance of making it into Smash prior to her announcement in SM3DW and Smash. Applying similar logic/pattern to how Sheik was in Smash.Just my opinion but I'd save the "these characters all got in for reason(s) X" type posts until we know the FULL roster. Easy way to avoid making yourself look the fool or see patterns that aren't actually there![]()
Vegas Palace = Casino Palace from F-Zero GXFrom that list what's...
Chapter 11 (Fire Emblem?)
Endpoint
Jumpusagi
Osohe
Quest
Senjo
Tundra
Vegaspalace (I thought Street Fighter lol)
Ice Climber and Kid Icarus aren't important to the history of Nintendo in the same way as the Game and Watch games or ROB add-on, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say.I forget that sarcasm doesn't go over well via text. Figured it made sense with what I quoted lol.

Wut why
What a wasted opportunity to give 3DS a unique stage.
Lame Sakurai..

I still don't really care for Takamaru. His design is boring to me and I don't think we've seen any real reason why he's a realistic contender.
I'm just using an example to refute Gartooths argument and supporting yours lol.Ice Climber and Kid Icarus aren't important to the history of Nintendo in the same way as the Game and Watch games or ROB add-on, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
I'm not saying Takamaru's likely, but if you doubt Sakurai's ability to make a spellcasting ninja-samurai interesting when he made Wii Fit Trainer interesting, I don't know what to tell you!I still don't really care for Takamaru. The bad stages are a real issue. Sure, Melee had some bad ones too, but nothing in Melee felt like torture in the same way as 75m or Electroplankton.there are a TON of bad stages.
Tetra? Really?Lucario instead of someone like Tetra? Really?

Why am I waiting for the comment to be posted when it's definitely nothing

Are there any Xenoblade stages in that stage list?
Look at the colors though
