Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 10: Against the Odds, We Choose to Hype!

We'll never get another super fighting robot moment. Smash commentating is obsolete.
Sadly mistaken.

:)

Also, MIOM had this to say about the tournament rules:
Format: FFAs in early portions. 1v1 no items in the later portion of bracket.
I wonder if that means we might actually get more than one match with the crazy turned down a little. As fun as FFA is to play, 1v1 is a lot more watchable most of the time.

Tafokints just gave more info on how people like himself and HugS will be in the tournament on Reddit:

Some players will be pre-seeded into the 1v1 bracket. However, the open bracket will be FFA and open to everybody. Expect a bunch of the San Diego/Los Angeles players to be in attendance

So, yeah. They don't take up any slots for the first come and first serve people.

I was referring to the moment, not the commentators. That was the pinnacle.
You're probably right actually. I just wanted to quote Smash commentary while dissenting that there will be more cool moments to come. But I do doubt we'll get a moment that reaches that height for a long while.

So, I'm guessing there was no Smash article in Famitsu?

I guess that whole part about "weekly smash columns" was mistranslated or the result of internet rumors.

That DKVine article last appeared in a main series website in 1999. It's irrelevant and has no chance to represent the DKVine community because it is irrelevant, and my personal definition of relevance is all-encompassing and is all that matters in the world.

I'm browsing through the latter part of the last thread and I missed this screen before. I just love the variance between these three so much.

1v1 bracket sounds great. I'm pumped.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing with items as much as the next guy. But when you're watching a tournament, it's not nearly as interesting.

Weren't they known for being generally toxic a while back? I'm thinking 2007, but maybe it got better.

PRESENTING.... Kinect Sports 3! :P

On one hand, Miyamoto jumped on the motion-controlled sports wagon first. On the other, he jumped on the motion-controlled sports first, making one of the biggest-selling games of all time in the process.

I'll grant you, though, the newest Kinect Sports doesn't look half-bad from what I've seen of it.

I'm sorry. :-(

I do think the current DKVine is a lot better.

In addition, the alternate palettes look even better on it, especially the Light Suit. That colour scheme can even make the Other M suit look decent within the actual game:

That Ridley's still irredeemable, though.
Wow, Samus is actually bigger than Ridley. What is this world coming to?

Okay yes I know Samus is probably just falling in the foreground, but c'mon, it does look like she's standing right next to him

Welp

1 more to go
Make it a very short building!

A lot of it is self-referential humor nowadays, although I'm sure there was toxicity after the Rare buyout, when everyone started retroactively shitting on Rare, crap sites like Game Spy making "Top Most Overrated Games" list for the sole purpose of bashing their games, review sites ripping into the GBA ports as horrible, stuff like that.

I was just taking a slight jab at the fact that the last 3 Rare games have been Kinect related since 2010, I hold no ill-will towards the games (Never played them, so I really can't). It just disappoints me how a company that made platformers/collectathons on par (If not better) than 1st party Nintendo games has become what they've become

Reminds me of what happened to Metroid fansites after Other M dropped.
