Here's what we need from Sunsoft:

Why does that remind me of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow's "Konami's Best of" boxart?

Hmm, Blaster Master on 3DS. Part of me wants to use my $5 DDP credit on that, but maybe I'll wait.

Pretty sure the ball is in SE court. The game was originally made by Square anyway. Sunsoft simply localized it. I doubt Sunsoft has a license for Final Fantasy now.

Yeah, I know, obviously Square's decision on it.
But still, that's what I associate Sunsoft with.

Well looks like Ufouria is tomorrow's Wii U VC game: http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/fIj3fYtGsMWashOiEtaFSZ5t7uNvC-DS

Even better than Blaster Master! My favorite NES Metroidvania!

Yesssss! Will definitely be upgrading my import copy of this. See, NOA? More stuff like this, please!

Btw, any early 90s kids here like me who waited years for Ufouria to be released in the U.S. after seeing it repeatedly in their deluxe Sears catalogs and NP previews? When it was cancelled I was so disappointed. Thank goodness for emulation and VC.

Edit: Forgot to say, shame Blaster Master wasn't on Wii U as I would've been able to upgrade that too. Oh well, I'm sure it will be eventually anyways and good week for NA VC fans either way.

-Ufouria
-Wooden Sen'Sey
-Master Reboot

For me tomorrow. I'm kinda interested in Super Toy Cars as well, since I've seen people say it's a good time. Depends on price. If it's under $10, I'll probably bite.

Edit: By the way, Internal Invasion is actually pretty fun and the dev is a pretty cool guy. I don't know if I can recommend it right now, since it has some annoying framerate issues, but he's working on a patch to fix that. Would recommend after it's fixed.

No, we need Journey to Silius, Gimmick and (in America) Trip World. And Waku Waku 7 if NeoGeo ever comes back.
Maybe now that we're not at the end of a console's lifespan, these'll see release.

I'm really interested in both of these. I feel like I learn about hidden gaming gems all the time thanks to VC. So Blaster Master is like a top-down Metroid-style game, from what I'm reading?

(Also, your favorite NES Metroidvania? So better than OG Metroid itself?)

Man, Siesta Fiesta is really cool and looks great.
Is that relatively low price a launch-discount thing or is it there to stay? Great deal either way.

Glad to hear it. I was really interested after reading the Nintendo Life review.

This is why I'm glad I have a healthy GBA cart collection.

Ditto. TBH I haven't felt compelled to get any GBA VC. I have the ones I want so far as GBA carts and I've got plenty to play on Wii U without wanting to play portable games on there.

Oh man, definitely get Blaster Master, amigo. If your budget allows it, I mean. It's a sidescrolling/top-down shooter hybrid (for car and on foot sections respectively).

Ufouria destroys the original Metroid, mainly because
1. It has a map (!!!)
2. Level design does not consist of the same 5 rooms repeated ad nauseum (!!!)
3. The game actually tells you what your different powerups and abilities do (!!!)

I second this. Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma, too. Too bad Square seems to have zero interest on the Wii U VC.

It's not that they have zero interest in the Wii U Virtual Console, it's that they have no interest in those of us outside of Japan buying their games on the Wii U Virtual Console.

Soul Hackers as its save isn't locked. Just buy a bigger SD card, we're talking about a few bucks here.

You can actually backup save-locked games when you delete them from the storage management. The 3DS always asks if you want to backup before deleting and will restore the backup automatically if you redownload.

Why are they taking so long to release the SNES/GBA VC games that have been available in Japan for months? Considering how barren the release schedule, you'd think they would be doubling on their digital efforts, but I guess not.

Yup. I love the original Metroid, don't get me wrong. Ufouria is just a lot more approachable. There's a map screen. The challenge is fair, if not kind of easy. It's got a totally different atmosphere, something more like a Kirby game. It's zany. Minor gameplay spoiler, just in case:
One of the playable characters a ghost whose special attack is hitting himself in the back of the head with a mallet so that his eyes can pop out of his head and kill all the on screen enemies.

Didn't know where else to post this.

So I got DKR3DS as a platinum gift in CN, but my original 3ds SD card was already full. I got a 16gb micro sd card with adapter and copied all the data from the original to the new SD card.

No issues there. But every time I go and try to download DKR3DS it just downloads for about 30 seconds before it stops trying and gives me an error (but not an error code) Could this be because of the SD card, or something else?

They're also making annual installments of Denpa Men. For all we do to complain online that no one wants a Madden or Call of Duty every year, does anyone really want a Denpa Men game every year? This is truly the one series today that I just don't understand the demand for.

There's a fourth coming within a year, so make that four within four years. And unlike, say, Nintendo turning out a bunch of Mario games in the series' prime, is anyone beating down someone's door for another Denpa Men game?

Just curious, have you played any? They're fun and charming games, and I would happily take one per year (especially at their budget price) if it weren't for their biggest flaw, that being the XP curve forcing you to grind thus halting my gameplay in the first two after a while. Each iteration has significantly evolved the series so far though.

I'm not sure what the F2P model is going to do to help or hurt the series, but honestly I think they made something they're happy about and is relatively successful and so they're sticking with it. If I were a game designer I'd certainly love to be able to keep updating a franchise I enjoy making.

I would try backing up the sd card files to the computer again and then reformatting the sd card, then copying files back on and see if it still gives problems.

I'm torn about buying Earthbound. Part of me says yes, because it's a revered classic that we're probably lucky to have on Wii U after it skipped Wii, and that discount makes it a bargain compared to any other way of obtaining the game.

The other part of me doesn't think I'll enjoy it beyond the quirky American setting and charming visuals. I don't like RPGs at all so this just doesn't seem like my sort of game. Can I really justify spending a fiver on a game I won't enjoy just because of its status? If this sale had come after payday next week I probably would have dived in and not looked back.

Either way, the sake ends this afternoon and I'm at work until 7, so it's a moot point anyway.

Well... i dont like indie 2d 8bit plataformers

But people talk SO MUCH about Shovel Knight that i had to give it a try. I just had to see it.

In the end i was right. I dont like indie 2d 8bit plataformers.
I can see that shovel knight is beautiful, amazing work, great gameplay. I just dont like it. Dont see any reason to keep playing it. And i bought it yesterday

So, i could have answered this differently two days ago. But today, ill say to you: dont buy Earthbound. You´re not going to like it because you dont like RPGs at all.

(i like RPGs and i like Earthbound, btw...)

You have to specify your hatred then, people could misunderstand it for baseless whining otherwise.

I'm actually looking forward to today's VC release on Wii u and 3DS, it's still frustrating with the even more ridiculous amount that NOA is holding back. Don't even get me started on no cross buy or why some Nes games are on 3DS but not Wii U and vica-versa

The original Metroid isn't a Metroidvania, it's just Metroid.

It's retroactively a Metroidvania since that's the preferred nomenclature for the genre.

Oh man, definitely get Blaster Master, amigo. If your budget allows it, I mean. It's a sidescrolling/top-down shooter hybrid (for car and on foot sections respectively).

It's on the list, for sure! Lots of stuff is. I have plenty of eShops funds, just not sure I want to spend much of it until I'm a bit more caught up on my backlog.

GG man stop telling everyone how poor I am ;_;

(The game really does sound great.)

Unreal. To think this was an NES game! Sounds good to me, thanks for the info!

A zany Metroidvania? Excellent. Definitely will be on my list of VC games to check out. Thanks Esnel!

I hope for every post in this thread you're sending two e-mails to NOA because otherwise I don't know what you're hoping to achieve.

Is Ufouria still gonna have the laughable "import tax" that the Wii version has, or will it cost $5 like every other NES game?

What I really really want are the working design games they brought over for the TG16 Super Cd.

Both Exiles, Cosmic Fantasy, Vasteel among others. I know we never ever will get those on VC but I would be in retro heaven.

I am much more intrigued in Uforia now after reading comments. Wooden Sensey looks neat but I can wait, master reboot however looks trippy as hell. I wanted toy cars to be better, it has a track editor but no mention if you can share them
