And yeah the lag has been bad. Lots interference in here though. DS's and phones up the wazoo. Not to mention the stations have been acting up all morning.

Quoting so more people see -- RomanceDawn is a player in the tournament, too.

...Hopefully it's just wireless interference + their shitty connection + the capture card...
 
Yeah it's best to just jot this down as interference given everyone's postive impressions. I'm sure even that problem will be fixed by launch.
 
According to the Twitch stream (which, not necessarily the most reliable source) the lag is being amplified in the stream by the capture card.

This is what I was thinking might be the problem. There wasn't an issue with the Wii U version. I hadn't heard of any issues from those that played the 3DS version. The footage could just be being passed through to many things.
 
Should have just done a Wii U tournament but to be fair Nintendo probably didn't expect this random interference. It's Skyward Sword all over again.
 
I think people are getting a bit too worked up about the lag here.
Remember, they are surrounded by a room full of people, many of them with mobile devices. Interference is a thing. I'm sure it'll be fine playing the final version under normal conditions.

When it's not lagging it looks great though, impressive for a 3DS title.
 
yeah idk i saw it happen multiple times including during my match at best buy. never for that long but it was stuttering the same exact way
 
How would a cap card and "interference" cause the game to lag? seems to me like its just the build/game not being up to par.

Well, local plays are shared over the wireless signals, so if you have a lot of interference from phones, etc then it would botch up the wireless game plays between 4 3DS.
