I had fun with the stream, Nintendo!
It's a surreal comedy life show largely split by a group of school girls and a robot girl/talking cat/bratty child genius. Very rooted in Japanese culture and an extremely tempered yet outrageous take on Japanese life. KyoAni elevates the manga like nobody's business with ace voice acting, character art and swell animation.
It's hands-down the best animated comedy I've ever laid eyes on (and I've seen a lot).

Well they revealed Mysterious Murasame Castle and NES Remix Pack are coming to North America. They never said the surprises would be Smash related.

It's nice to see the crew have as much fun doing some of the demonstrations and matches as they do. Obviously they work under Nintendo, but there were genuine emotions (and trolling) bounced around on stream. Looking forward to next time

No special surprises
Nothing Smash related, but I'd say NES Remix Pack and Murasame Castle for North America were both pretty surprising. Given the quality of the stream and those two little bits of info, I'd say they fulfilled on their promise.
Well, I would say that, but because it was the Smash Bros. Facebook page that said it, I'm pretty sure they don't count for most people. So, while I'm satisfied, I think people have a little wiggle room for complaining.
LOL. Well, "no Johns" means no excuses. It's a term that was coined when someone named John in the smash community kept making excuses about every little thing.

In terms of physical release, only the Australian release has English subs and that's DVD only, sadly (which undermines the great visuals). But it's on Crunchyroll in English!
I would recommend the manga, but it's not available in English.
A 27-minute documentary to get an inside joke from competitive Smash?

As Ultimadrago said, it's only available with English subtitles in Australia, so, if your region has access, I recommend first watching it through Crunchyroll, as far as the best legal avenue for the show is concerned. Criminally underappreciated, so I'm glad there are other fans of the show on this forum!
Anyways, we should be expecting the YouTube recording of the stream's second day to be viewable on Nintendo's YouTube channel by tonight or tomorrow morning.

Should still watch the series if you get the time. It's very well produced and gives a solid insight into the development of the competitive Smash scene.

Interesting tidbit from that wiki:
During EVO 2014's Super Smash Bros. Melee singles tournament, a short video was played that featured Nintendo of America's president, Reggie Fils-Aimé vocalizing Nintendo's support of the tournament. After sharing his appreciation for the Melee players at the event, Reggie wrapped up the video with a challenge for players to face him in the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros. 4; at the conclusion of the video, Fils-Aimé said, "And if we ever do go head-to-head, please, no Johns."
So yeah, NOA basically did its homework on the Smash community and is appealing to them. Which is marketing, but still fun.
What, Nichijou is criminally underappreciated now? I thought everyone loved this.

Good stream today. I liked the informal challenges. But something struck me while I watched today. A lot of the "challenges" the treehouse crew set for themselves were like achievements. Seems like Nintendo gets the idea of mini-challenges within their games, so you'd think formalizing and organizing them into player profiles them would be the next step.

Here I was thinking it was a term as old as time.
Well, it had very low BD sales in Japan. It doesn't appeal to the "mainstream" anime purchasing crowd in the same fashion most popular comedies do (ex. Heavy otaku referential humor, Characters with potential sex appeal, Heavy innuendo, Potty humor, etc).

Well, it's safe to say it's achieved cult status, but it was a financial disappointment for Kyoto Animation, as far as I can tell. But this isn't even tangentially related to Nintendo's Comic-Con stuff (unfortunately!).
This Nintendo of America tweet is, though. You can tell that a lot of people had a really good time.
