Wii U Games 2014

I'm completing Child of Light (really enjoyed this game!) and I've already downloaded Assassin's Creed 4: it will be my game for next week (I'll be alone, with wife and kid at the seaside), so I hope I'll enjoy it! Any impression from you, guys, specificallly for the Wii U version?

If you like the naval battles and pirates stories it's great. Otherwise, the same AC mechanics, the story is somehow ok, I liked the economy part in the game, small cities and small islands in general, so not much to explore on foot for most part of the game, but huge sea. The character is less horrid than in AC III. I enjoyed it for some time. I should get back to it actually.

It looks good on Wii U and except for some fights with many guys on the screens at the same time it plays quite well too. Even then it's not unplayable. It's a good game for screenshots.

And Child of light is indeed really good, I'm playing through it right now.

Great, thank you.
I've liked the naval battles the most in ACIII (otherwise too bland in pace, imho, and repetitive) so hopefully I'll like this fourth episode. good to know that it looks and runs smoothly

Well, run smoothly might not be totally correct. There are slowdowns, as I said. Some mind them more some less, if you read through the impressions here it ranges from "unplayable mess" to "game runs perfectly for me". It didn't bother me, but check for yourself.

thank you.
About CoL, I've reached the last chapter: charming graphically and satisfying in terms of gameplay, to me.

I really enjoyed it. I got the game without the Wii remote (just make sure you do have one with MotionPlus or else it's impossible to play).

A lot of the events are great, unlocking stuff like gear, costumes, and songs is fun because it's done through over 100 achievement-like challenges, and the presentation is top notch.

I wrote a review on my site that I can link to if you want in a PM.

What kind of secret site are you running? I for one would be glad to see your review, you should post it here!

Is there any miraculous chances that Nintendo might reprint Xenoblade close to XCX's release?

I live half the world across US, and all the copies I can find online are >$100 or so. Really want to play this game since I have a Wii U now.

I hope for the same too... and also the rest of the Op Rainfall games

I haven't been into this thread in a while, but I have to say after looking at the list of upcoming games I'm glad I also have a WiiU. It is going to be a glorius end of year experience gaming wise.

Great console, I have so much invested on it.

Looking forward to both Bayos and Captain Toad, maybe Hyrule Warriors. I still need to get Deus Ex, Batman and maybe NFSMWU, I already have a big Wii U backlog.

I need more time to give indies some love on the cosole.

2015 will be glorious!!

I know i have an unpopular opinion on the matter, but i would not put any money towards NFS. There is no local multiplayer, and there is no manual gearshifting.

Do get Deus Ex (you'll need an hour or two to get into it). It's one of the best games on the system. I also enjoyed Splinter Cell, I felt it was underrated.

And I'll mention that Planes Fire & Rescue is coming to Wii U after all despite its omission when it was announced. They stealth announced the Wii U version at E3, so far we don't know who's behind it.

Also Falling Skies looks like it's dead on Wii U, and it's for the best, because...

I got a Wii U recently and wanted to get my hands on some MP FPS. ( I have a PC but always been a console shooter)

COD: Ghost has around 900 users online at any given time. Are the majority playing Black Ops2 or just a small user base?

According to somebody on gamefaqs, BO2 still goes over 2000 at peak times, so sounds like more players there than Ghosts. Not too surprised personally, because imo outside of a few advantages Ghosts had, BO2 is easily the better game.

If Advanced Warfare isn't coming to Wii U, I may rebuy BO2.

I bought Ops2 thanks to the advice of the members of this thread and I never have trouble finding a match.

Most people left Ghost and went back to BO2, its the better game

I wish BO2 had Ghosts' hit detection. And it may be my imagination, but it seemed like insane lag was less prevalent in BO2 too.

But otherwise Ghosts is definitely the inferior game in almost every aspect. :(

Just went back to BO2 myself, even the maps I used to hate I don't find that bad anymore thanks to Ghosts awful maps.

Yeah, that's the thing. I couldn't stand for example Aftermath in BO2. But thinking back it doesn't seem to terrible anymore after seeing some of the absolute diarrhea piles served up in Ghosts. Aftermath was my least favorite in BO2, but at least half the Ghosts maps are worse imo. As soon as I can find it used (or new) for $10 or less I'll probably pull the trigger.

This is my first time playing Blops2 (skipped it on 360) and I love it. It's better than the first, and definitely better than MW3. Plus, free online play just feels right.

So I finally got my hands on a Wii remote.

What are some good Wii games for someone who never owned a Wii? I know stuff like Mario Galaxy, Zelda, DKCR, Xenoblade, Metroid and smash are good... anything else that I shouldn't miss?

I've seen Red Steel 2 used for next to nothing in several places. From the vidoes I've seen it actually looks quite fun, is it worth it?

PS: Also, any good sites (with international shipping) to find used copies of xenoblade (NTSC) at a decent price?

Saw Fire Emblem already mentioned, so thats good. Also I really enjoyed Zak & Wiki. Both Kirby games are good/great, though Epic Yarn can be nauseatingly "cute". The Last Story is good as well if you like RPG's. Dead Space Extraction, very fun "lightgun" type game. Sin & Punishment as well. And if you can get past the unpleasant graphics (TBH the last "Masters" version isn't bad) the Tiger Woods golf games are really enjoyable, even if you don't normally like those kind of games. I've never played Red Steel 2 but it is AFAIK well received, unlike the first one.

Theres probably more, Wii has quite a good library.

Soooo gaf, i want to buy a Pro Controller, where can i check the compatible games?

Im buying it for bayonneta 2 and smash, i would use it on Mk 8 but man, knowing what item is holding the guy behind you is godsend.

Basically every retail game not named Zombi U works with the pro controller either by default or via patch.

The catch being that games like NSMBU or 3D World will prompt for the gamepad if you select a level that has touch screen elements.

Just bought guacamelee, 1001 spikes, NES remix 2, and one piece today. That should keep me pretty busy until hyrule warriors and bayonetta 2 finally drop.

Just got a pro controller from the BB sale. TTT2 is soooo much better without the gamepad. MK8 too. I just wish you could put the gamepad in sleep mode or something. It bothers me to know it's just sitting there draining it's battery lol.

It's fucking crazy that the Gamepad can't do this. When I'm watching Netflix it just sits there with its screen on. Insanity.

In games you can, home button->controlls configuration(something along those lines, mine is in spanish so idk lol)-> gamepad options-> turn off gamepad screen.

It would turn on back once you hit any button.
