Under Night In-birth Exe:Late |OT| Under Night In-America

I'll play some, and That didn't explain anything to me lol

Double tap DD when you have the glowing buff. You get the glowing up if you are winning on GRD bar count at certain periods in the match. So on and so forth.

Presumably if you can hold a block string long enough you should win the GRD meter race/whatever and be able to get the buff. At which point in time you can use chain shift to get out of block stun and counter the block string with something like invincible DP or special or whatever.

ggs rhap and Q, how was the connection for you guys?

Sorry for my hour 1 Gordeau, still need to learn his pressure, but from what I've played his 6B seems like a stupidly good mixup tool and 5B an amazing pressure tool. 2B makes me feel like I'm playing street fighter in an anime game haha.

I still need to learn the other aspects of the game as well, I still have no idea what grd is for or what vorpal state is.

It's ok. I got to see the awesomeness of the Gordeau combo-able command grab.

Good matches.

But seeing that command grab that you can combo into in a block string (over and over again until dead) and the wake up amounting to "press a button get jabbed/don't press a button get thrown every time" has me second guessing whether I want to play this game again.

It's infuriating and completely saps my desire to play.

Well, it's not a real command grab since you can tech it. Seems like a weaker version of Abels mixup rekkas.

As for wakeup, just dont press buttons. :P Wakeup seems pretty similar to BB, though I'd say BB's oki on wakeup seems much scarier to me imo

Keep playing man, I got bodied eating a million overheads into combos if it makes you feel any better lol

Watch the beginner's workshop in the OP, how GRD and Vorpal work in this game is actually really important. Basically, if you gain GRD vorpal by having more GRD blocks at speciric points in the match, you can dhain shift, which gives you meter and a roman cancel (a YRC that gives you meter? what more could I ask for???). The flow of the game really resolved around the GRD meter.

Everyone in the game, the ex cancel thing. Like I know when you are glowing you can do it, but I don't understand the condition to get there.

Edit: also you done playing?

Yeah, I had a long day and I'm just doing a 1v1 with a friend I know. I'll do another lobby later this week.

And yeah, that's Chain Shift. See that thing at the bottom in the middle? Each block is called GRD. The giant circle is a 17 second timer. Whoever has more GRD enters a state called Vorpal. You have a 10 percent damage boost and access to Chain Shift.

Chain Shift is a cancel. Also converts all your GRD blocks into meter.

The connection was really bad. I had to counter those netplay tactics by playing differently lol

And it's a real command grab. You can only tech it in a block string which you shouldn't really do.

Sooo can anyone get rid of Seth's black ball thing with their attacks or is it Waldstein's normals and their projectile nullifying thing

From what I saw of Seth matches (and of what I paid attention to, which generally isn't very much), the most used one is the air one that goes behind him. Although the homing sucks on that one :<. At least it forces people to do something, I guess. I don't know how practically useful it is.

Gives you extra air time too

Messing around with gordeau in the lab...and this guy is just too good. That is all.

So are Merkava and him considered top 1 and 2 in the game respectively?

GGs Q, sorry if the connection gave me any sort of advantage with the grabs. Still, gotta admit that the one time I grabbed your with reversal 360C while you were doing your dashing and slashing behind thing looked pretty awesome.

Yay, I can finally do a pretty decent gem combo with Vatista off of a 2A starter (in training mode lol). It does 2.7k, which is just fine for me!

I still suck at Eltnum's combos. Input buffer in this game feels different than BB, and not in a good way :(

And Waldstein. Those three are top tier.

Starting to get Seth's combos down a bit better. I think I should be good to go in 3 days or less then at that point its all match up knowledge :D

Which combos are you doing?
Stuff like this:
"5A>5B>2C>5[C]>421B>6>22B>66C>22B>66C>Reload"

Canceling into 22B is hard, mostly because I fuck up that input a lot. But also, I can't manage to cancel into 66C, and it sucks.

Also suck at combos where you gotta do j.[C], double jump, and do delay j.[C] before they come out of hitstun and/or you both hit the ground.

Corner only
"3C>8>J[C]>8>j.[C]>5B>5[C]>421B>6>22B>66C>22B>66C>Reload"

I really like the character though, so I'll stick with her.

And to be fair, I haven't even played for ten hours. Maybe even five.

Ah. That second combo actually works midscreen as well. I'm not sure why 22B is difficult for you, but it can sort of be difficult to do the special cancel as early as possible. Same goes for linking dash C so your opponent doesn't go too far.

Also make sure that you time your reloads with Eltnum. You want to get those flashing bullets.

I don't think you can cancel into 66C. Every time I did it, it felt like a link to me.

The hard part for me is forcing myself to not try and buffer the dash before the special finishes lol. This is why I can't do microdashes in BB either. .__.

Edit: The reload timing is actually really easy. It's probably harder to do in an actual match, but the window is big so it's easy to establish the rhythm you need to do it without looking at the bar.

I'm curious on whether the special bullets add more blockstun. I know on hit, there's more hitstun and even a crumple on standing/crouching opponents. I didn't test it out.

Edit: I might log on in a few hours for some UNIEL. If anyone wants to play, just log on or add Rhapzody_

Come blow me up

Edit: oh in a few hours xD

I still can't believe this isn't being released in the states until 2015. =\

A lot of people I know would have picked it up otherwise.

Introduce them all to Lem :lol

XD I might get on at 3 at the earliest. I need to figure out how to catch Seth eventually too lol

haha I want to learn some other characters as well, but from what I can tell from what I've tried no one fits me as much as Seth xD

Yeah. Feels like it's being 'sent to die' with that late of a release date. But I wouldn't expect a game like this to sell well anyway. Surprised it's getting a physical release.

Well, playing Akutsuki wasn't the way to overcome my reservations about this game. It feels like everyone can do what he does, but better. I don't really know what to call a jack of all trades that's a 3/10 at everything. Guess I'll try out Linne next.

Oh man, shielding an entire Linne blockstring and watching the GRD meter quickly fill up entirely with your color feels so freaking good :D

Having a lot of issues with about half of Vatista's moves (midair dive, laser, and mid combo traps), notably because I can't get anything to charge in less than around 56-59 frames.

That said, still rocking a mad 34% and climbing win rate, so could be worse.

A few days ago, I took this game to a local fighting game gathering, and everybody who played it liked it!

Unfortunately, today starts my work week, which means very little time for online gaming. Oh well, i'll unlock colors~

Starting to get more of a feel for this game. Surprisingly I think the character that suits me best is Vatista. Was able to play super-defensively and started winning matches, so I think I'm going to stick with her. Totally not my kind of character, design-wise, but I guess robo-loli it is for now.

Need to get you guys added to my friends list. I think a few people may be on my Japanese account, lyteedge, which I don't use much anymore. Add me- lyteedge2

I have a question with this combo because i am having difficulties landing the 421B after the 5[C]. Do you u only do the 1 hit from the 2C or do you do the 2 hits? I can do 2C(1 hit)>5C>421B just fine but when i add in the 5A>5B and continue the combo, the 421B always doesn't hit.

Nvm, i got it. The brackets around the C means i have to hold the button down lol
