Yeah; as long as we don't have a glistening overabundance of shield breakers, I'm fine.

Also, can I join the Ness Desperation Group even if I want Lucas back more? I actually am kind of feeling a veteran this week, but my money's on Wario.

No, lol. All I'm saying is that the whole "he focus tested this and determined most players like X" is a flawed argument. What demographics were tested? Brand new players or old? Did they compare 64 to melee to brawls or just melee and brawl? Did they compare any of them at all? Did they see how adding and removing things effected results? Basically there are plenty of questions that are unknowable right now and we can't even begin to know the conditions of the focus testing or how extensive it was or even if it was done at all.

I'm a huge supporter for Duck Hunt Dog become playable character as you could see my posts in old threads. Yeah, I've heard of the rumor but I don't think he have a good chance to be playable character. We will see in a month and few days.

I'm in it and I want both Lucas and Ness back equally (which is pretty disparately).

So far, it seems to be that whatever we talk about gets into the game in some fashion, albeit not usually in the form we want it.

So if we talk about Snake, presumably he'll be confirmed as a playable character
with Kiefer Sutherland as his voice actor

Wizards of the coast follows a "60/40 rule" for balancing magic the gathering which basically means that a more skilled player should win about 60% of their matches against a less skilled player. This seems crazy to people who want a highly competitive experience, but it ends up making the most people have the most amount of fun. As a fan of competitive smash bros, I would definitely prefer a game balanced more like street fighter, but I also can't really fault sakurai and his team for moving away from that style of game.

Smash 4 seems like it's doing a great job of splitting the difference though. Hopefully it'll please everyone instead of pleasing no one.

I would love if Smash 4 went more offensive as to the defensive it seemed after that tournament, but it definitely seems better than Brawl. I kind of rambled with my anecdote but my main point when I originally thought of it was the skill point, along with Brawl seeming horribly slow and me hoping this one didn't go along those lines.

I guess, but when you have games like Dota & League where it's hugely competitively balanced and are the first & second most watched games in the world, I really think having Melee's barrier to entry (which is still low) wouldn't turn anyone off. Dark Soul's is hugely popular and is MUCH harder than Melee.

Honestly, I'm hoping (and thinking) that were in a small turnabout where skill and difficulty will be emphasized more, after seeing what the opposite has done to some games and genres.

Also, @Crocodile's post, I wouldn't say he actively hates a playerbase, but he dislikes how they play and puts his own playstyle above theres. He may be trying to rectify this, but it's pretty clear there's a certain playstyle he wants the game to go with.

If let's say Sakurai graces us with not just Ness and Lucas, but yet another Mother character who would you want it to be? Personally I'd love to see Jeff. I don't think it's an unrealistic choice since he'd be a gadget heavy character, I can see him being a clone of Snake.

I would rather not. The era of Big Boss as a protagonist marked the shift of Metal Gear going from a straight forward game with a mix of serious and whimsical themes to try-hard finger wagging political science narratives and convoluted gameplay.

Ditto; it's too late in production and it's confirmed we're low on newcomers (Every newcomer's supposedly getting one), so hype's dwindled on anyone but Chorus Kids or Shulk.
 
It's kind of depressing how almost all of the 3DS stages so far are based on... well, 3DS games. It would be nice to see a Super Mario Land 2 or Link's Awakening stage, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

The Mother series doesn't have a lot of good options for reps outside of party members, and of those I'd say Kumatora's the best option, and the most likely. She's got a good following in Japan, good character design, keeps Mother 3 representation, adds one to the female roster, and it actually makes sense that she'd be using PSI attacks, unlike Ness or Lucas.

Poo would also make for an awesome character.

That said I'll eat my hat if we get another Mother rep. Seems rather unlikely.

Jeff would be an amazing addition, but I'd rather see Paula. We'd get another female fighter, and she could use the moves that ness has been stealing all this time. With Paula in, they could overhaul Ness's moves to be more in line with what he actually does in earthbound. Give him a slingshot and PSI Rockin and all his other PSI moves. But that's just me living in dreamland.

I also mentioned a few threads back that I would love a touring stage for earthbound. Riding a UFO or the sky runner across all the iconic places of Eagleland would be so rad. Plus then I don't have to choose between Saturn valley, moon side, and giant's step.

Kumatora would be a great character I feel, and give her Lucas' Brawl moveset with modifications with Lucas getting one closer to his actual moveset in-game. Jeff or Duster would also have some neat movesets.

I'd also love Masked Man but I think he's a long shot.

It's been a long time since Brawl, they might have been hitting the gyms daily and hell I bet those Parkas would hide most of their tone and definition. They could be cut for all we know.

Yes, Duster.

We have no character that fights mainly with kicks, imagine a character that fights only with kicks, like how little mac fights only with punches.

And he can use the thief tools as apecials

Easily Ness, followed by Ganondorf, and then maybe Snake. Ness not being in the game would be a negative megaton.

It's hard cos earthbound has always been shafted in terms of representation in smash bros.

How the fuck does the Onett stage not have the Onett music. Why do Ness and Lucas use other people's moves? Why was there no music from Earthbound in Brawl? Maybe a new character is asking too much, but literally any party member from any Mother game would be a perfect fit for smash brothers.

Though to be fair, Smash gave Ness, Lucas, and Mr. Saturn PERFECT voices. Could have been so bad but they got perfect voices/noises for all three.

I hope that if Ness were cut, the internet would explode. Smash is all we Mother fans have got left - that and the occasional gashapon figure set.

How did they make an entire Fourside stage for Melee, and have nobody in development say, "This would be way more badass and way less generic if we retextured it as Moonside."

Why did they record new Earthbound tracks for Brawl, and then not put them in the game?
