EA announces Subscription Service for Xbox One ($5/month or $30/year, get game vault)

Oh look, EA still going Pro Microsoft, what a surprise.

for those of you having problems with code, do not click the redeem code in the email, go to the home screen and say Xbox use code enter manually and it should work, it took me a couple times but it finally let me enter the 25 digit code.

It's an interesting bundling move, and it's one that could be a good deal for players that don't already own any of the offered legacy titles. But a lot of the long-term value will depend on the specific implementation going forward. It's currently unclear when EA will add new games to the Vault, for instance, and it seems unlikely that brand new releases will be given away for "free" until they stop generating significant sales to standard purchasers (EA just says that the Vault will see "more titles being added soon").

And while EA says it has "no plans to remove any game from The Vault," there's no guarantee that a game that's accessible via EA Access today will still be available years from now.

have they announced how often new games will be added and if you will keep the games when they get pulled from the "vault" ?

Same as PS+ and GWG. As long as you remain active member. You can play those games.

So wait? Buy one month EA access for 4.99$ and a new 60$ game with the 10% discount for 54$, and you save 1$...thats if you only buy one game. Why wouldn't you just do this every month you want to buy an EA game and then cancel?

Just signed up for the year as well. Gonna give Battlefield 4 a spin since I've never played it before. Looking forward to the early access of Madden, FIFA, NHL, etc....

This will be my last post on this, but what are the step by step instructions for getting this service?

I see no adds on the X1 for it, I had no messages regarding the service, and I couldn't find it in a search or in my apps.

EA should change the name to Salty Vault.

I don't even get it, people are saying it's a shitty deal and EA+MSFT are milking gamers, at the same time they bitch that it's not available elsewhere.

For me it's a good deal, I buy at least 3-4 games from EA each year, not including any spot titles. So I am sure I will get my money worth.

If you are on Xbox One preview program then only you will receive the message. You wont' find this in store.

You have to be in the dashboard beta to have access right now.

Right now this just sounds like an awesome deal. Can't wait to get more info, like, how can I get in on this beta.

Dragon Age demo, 5 days early...yeah, I am ready.

For now only way to get it is through Xbox Live Preview program.

Are you in the preview program? If not, then you're probably not going get a code in the message inbox.

If you are part of the Xbox One dashboard preview then they sent you a message to your XBL message box with a code in it to redeem to get the app.

Redeem the code (sometimes it has a leading space and then leaves off the final letter/number from the code, others have had other issues) but once its redeemed you download the app and open it.

If you're not in the Dashboard preview then currently you will have to wait until its full release which is pegged at "soon" I would guess

You have to be in dash preview program to get the code, or you have to get the email from Microsoft/EA to get the code to download the app.

It's not available to everyone for now, it will be soon, but it's not right now.

what ever happened to the EA season ticket for xbox 360 and ps3 is that still happening :/ because, i renewed my subscription for that.

US UK

All Zone ????

Where else can I purchase an EA Access membership?

Coming soon, GameStop fans will be able to purchase an EA Access membership at their local GameStop retail store. In the UK, gamers will also be able to purchase their membership through GAME stores.

US can purchase their membership through GAME stores.
Good job EA.

I take it you haven't been invited by anyone into the preview program on the XB1? For early access you need to be part of that program.

That whole shiny dollar you save is peanuts compared to the resale value of the physical disc (which you don't get).

Well, just got the code. Cant believe im getting 4 games (in fact 2, because i already bought fifa and peggle) for 5.43. Yesterday i was thinking on buying BF4 for almost 5 times that money!

Looks like you totally skipped the free games part. FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Battlefield 4 and Peggle 2. There are free games right now once you sign up. And more will be added later.

I may have missed this, but do you get full, uninterrupted access to those games and all their features?

Can you play all the Battlefield 4 multiplayer maps, all the multiplayer modes, and the single player mode? The same exact things you could play if you bought the disc version of the game?

Can you play multiple seasons of a Madden franchise, or just a single season mode? What about online multiplayer or even online franchises? The same exact things you could play if you bought the disc version of the game?

Do you earn achievements on these games?

But I get to keep the game, personally I don't like selling games AND I prefer digital copies as it gets rid of clutter in my appartment.

Until EA says otherwise.....YES!!

These are the full retail games.

Between this and Games With Gold, Xbox One owners need never buy a game. Personally, I don't think that's a great situation and fear the dlc and in app purchases of the future.

I blame iOS and PS+ for blazing the games should cost nothing trail.

I've signed up, set all the games downloading, had a quick go on Peggle and Madden. I'm not going to beat 'em, may as well join them. :(

Madden seems cool. :)

Hope they add need for speed.

Hope they don't add PVZ.

yes, yes, yes and yes. You get everything as a regular game. It is like a "price filter" over EA content on the xbox game store (if you try to buy the game without the subs, you get the regular price, once you are signed up, price automagically change to free). So they are the same games, with different prices.

Because that's a ridiculous amount of effort to go through to save $1?

Actual answer: You have no physical discs and can't trade anything in, which is a problem EA faces more than anyone else and one they're dying to try to get rid of. Paying them $54 for a digital version nets them a way bigger margin than if you bought $60 retail.

Full versions. Also the 5 day trials of the new releases allows you to unlock achievements and continue your progress moving forward if you go on to purchase the game.

BTW, for those downloading the games... seems that games from EA Hub are boosted to the top priority. I mean, I was downloading a patch of Wolfenstein, and when i added BF4, Wolf patch got automatically paused. Also, Im not seeing progression bar (just "installing" message on my games and apps).

$2.50 a month for the year is nothing if the selection is good.

If they push new releases to the game vault 2-3 months after release then this would be amazing. Never need to buy retail games again unless I really really love that game.
