Panel was okay. Felt a bit disorganized or repetitive, which is no big deal. The Blur stuff was a bit fascinating and its interesting to see how they've approached that. Biggest thing I took away from it though was how experimental the original Halo online was. Max Hoberman really made several swings for the fences there, so it's incredibly impressive how many of 'em stuck.

It has me excited for what he's attempted to do with the H2A maps.

Maybe they can get Marty and Max back. Let Max replace Kevin Franklin.

A New Challenger Approaches!

Personally, I'm down to give Kevin Franklin (and 343 in general) another shot with Halo 5. If they mess up that game, though, then I'll really be a naysayer.

It is funny, if Microsoft had managed to do the always online DRM then this would actually be really easy (although I wouldn't have bought an Xbox One) but thankfully we don't live in that world.

The Rock Band exporting model is one which I think could work with a little tweaking. MCC comes with a unique code which does nothing at first. Once Halo 5 releases you can use that code + $10 to export your MCC maps/campaigns into Halo 5's shell. You pay the $10 for the convenience of having all the maps and playlists in one location - then you can sell your MCC disc if you want to, but everyone will be selling it so the trade value will be really low and people who buy your used copy wont be able to export because the code has already been used.

People who buy both digitally don't need to mess with the codes and don't have to pay the export charge.

When Halo 6 comes out, you use the code which came with Halo 5 and pay another $10 to export Halo 5's maps/Campaign into Halo 6's shell... and so on for every release.

Stupid idea, but it's 5:15 in the morning and I love the single UI for MCC - I don't want to see it left behind. ($10 is just a random amount I chose based on the RB export cost)

Not a stupid idea at all, this would actually be a great way to implemt this. Please 343, please do this!

Played some Halo 2 on XBC last night.. I was a legit 39 in Slayer before quitting, and this was way before the double and quad shot. Last night, all I played were legit button glitch pros. I was dead from the quad shot before I could move. I have a feeling I won't be ranked high in H2 against a team of people who can do this glitch consistently... I can't get it pulled off once alone in a custom, let alone in the heat of battle.

Here in Spain this year's E3 conference of Sony ended up 5AM... I'm glad we can have a decent conference schedule for once thanks to Gamescom.

Yeah I'm in the UK so it'll be nice to have a decent time for once to have some tasty news and info...

Every E3 by the end I hate myself for staying up so late with work the next day.

Yep, same here. Every singe year I swear to god it's the last one I'll stay up at night watching ludicrously boring press conferences, yet every single E3 I forget about that promise and still watch all of them.

This is madness.

yeah, many of us europeans have missed many nights sleep for them freakin e3's

but what is this stream you are talking about? and more importantly, when?

There are some press conferences planned. EA has one (2 hours long), although I don't know when, and maybe Microsoft or others will do the same (I think Ubisoft have confirmed theirs as well).

Dual wielding was fun and the only reason I think they have removed it, is to make the guns feel more real I guess? I mean Master Chief did look stupid holding two SMG and reloading with one hand lol But I never thought it was powerful enough for them to consider taking it off.

It was removed for balance reasons, I believe. Dual wielding essentially created a bunch of half weapons that were mostly useless on their own. Even the more powerful combos like Plasma Rifle/SMG weren't worth using. I think the only time I ever used a dual wield in a competitive game was the occasional Brute Rifle/SMG combo on Turf if combat was focused on the tighter half of the map.

Halo 2 launch melee.

The melee system was absolutely wrecked when desolation/tombstone shipped... so in terms of MCC... halo 1 melee >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> halo 2 melee

The Halo 2 melees were pretty much useless before 1.1 came around - you were looking at up to five melees at times to drop an opponent. You were always better off using the time to back off an engage with your primary instead.

1.1 and up melees were some of the best. They were momentum-based, fast, and lethal. It made close quarters combat much faster and more intense, and with BXB especially it was very skill-based.

Stream was cool, that is a great group of guys and this game is looking HOT...except for a couple things:

-no actual footage of coagulation or zanzibar
-confirmation of no collector's edition
-confirmation of no custom controller configurations

It will be neat.

On the topic of developer-customer relations, is there any chance of 343i getting their own developer web site, or is everything going to continue to be done through the Halo Waypoint page? I liked in the Halo 2 Bungie days that I was getting information straight from the developers from their own web site. It seemed like the community was more involved, got more and better info, and the whole thing felt a bit more "personal."

Waypoint is 343. But we have some tweaks coming. Big and small.

Hoping for the best. I know 343i is involved with Waypoint, but I get the feeling that corporate MS has a lot of sway over it. It feels a lot more like a "sales" site than bnet did during the H2 days. At any rate, it feels a lot less independent.

I second this.

EA starts at 4AM EST on August 13th, so that is already a no-go for me. I will have to watch it later in the day.

You know watching the panel finally and I wish people would ask questions that weren't answered when announced and that have been answered multiple times.

I know I'd love to know the answers to these questions myself.

1. Is the audio mix fixed for Halo anniversary and are they doing anything to avoid the same issue with Halo 2's mix? (Issue where music almost drowns out voices)

2. Are some of the graphical issues that cropped up in Halo Anniversary fixed? Example the shotgun graphical glitch, the texture pop in, etc.

Might we see some footage of the Halo 5 Beta? Pretty please.... I swear I've been extra good this year!

Hopefully not.

Strange that we haven't seen a single realtime image or trailer of the Hal 5 SP, and yet there are talks of the multiplayer beta.

I mean, I know we got the CGI, but I need to see what this SP looks like on XBO!

They said during this panel that they will have A LOT more discussion about audio around the time of Gamescom. I wonder if that means they are going to dedicate 15-30+ minutes of their Gamescom panel to audio talk (kinda like they did this time with the Blur guy) and still not talk about/show much new gameplay or if it means they will announce this new info separately from their panel.

Wait Jessica Shea is no longer the community manager? And Bravo is it now? I've been out of the 343i employee loop for a while.

30 skulls? Oh my.

The CGI cutscene O_O

Damion Poitier you lucky sob.

Serena Cortana respect for doing that. (Apologies if I got the name incorrect)

Can't wait to see the hidden details in Halo 3.

Talking about glitches? Stinkles going to get his own show: Glitches with Stinkles at 5.

Please include dual wield in future Halo titles, pwetty pwease *puts on puppy eyes* (Even if it's only for custom/forge/firefight)

They are going to have a Gamescom panel? They never did this before right?

I guess I could be getting ahead of myself here. Now that I think about it, I don't think they have actually confirmed they are. I know Microsoft has been confirmed to have a prescense/some sort of presentation at Gamescom but not sure about 343. They did, at least, specifically mention Gamescom during this panel so hopefully they will at least be announcing stuff around that time.

Would be nice if they offered more audio options ala Halo PC (Master, Music, SFX), and if they brought back the audio speaker check too (Grunt & Hunter skit) or modernized it.

... and EAX-equivalent effects as well? Been a long time since I heard the EAX in Halo PC.

I've been seriously tempted in the past to build an old PC with Windows XP running just to have EAX back in all its glory. The solution to get it back from Realtek is awful and it would cost less for me to just piece together a PC from spare parts than buy a Creative Labs sound card for ALchemy.

(I work on PC all the time and have spare parts lying around.)

I don't think they will have separate panel for Halo. But judging from history, they showed lot of Halo Reach during Gamescom 2010. New trailers, walkthrough, interviews and ViDocs. So I think we might also get those stuff this year.
