PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Started playing Jet Set Radio on the Vita too! I was a little afraid since reviewers said the game hadn't aged that well... but I'm not having any problem with the controls, tbh.

I thought it was a great port, and that was before the performance patch which improved the game further. I played the crap out of the game and ended up doing everything there was to do (trophies as well) and loved almost every minute of it. The soundtrack is bloody brilliant as well. I'd love to get a Vita/PS4 port of the Xbox sequel (Future) one day.

I guess I'll pass then. I enjoyed SS but I really don't enjoy wandering around between different missions and suddenly hitting a brickwall of difficulty, then finding easier Avalon/etc quests to do, then going back...all gets very annoying. Been stuck on the final boss, I'll probably finally shelve it after I beat that.

Having played both, I was worried Delta would be too much like the original. While I did like SS, something about the gameplay didn't seem too appealing to me. Delta changed that.

In SS I couldn't do some of the harder pacts, in Delta I almost killed Magusar being level 15/25 and unprepared (which for some reason I was unable to do in the original).

I accidentally started an 8 star pact being much lower leveled and while it did take over an hour to kill I managed just fine (Having a companion certainly helped). Delta also has more story related pacts and much better offerings.

This close and still no specific date for Minecraft PS4?

4J must be too busy pumpin' out skin packs for old versions. :/

asked this a couple of times in last months thread already, nobody seems to know :I

Phantom Breaker: BG will last you a good long while.

I forget how many stages there are but there's a good number of them(average playthrough is around 2 hours?). They're also pretty varied with some decent (though cheap) bosses. At the start there are four playable characters, and four that can be unlocked (plus two variations iirc). Throw in co-op, experience-gaining, and the arcade/time-attack modes and you're set for awhile.

The one major concern I have about the Vita version is how it performs. I can't tell how the frame-rate is.

Man, DmC is incredible.

Gameplay-wise could be amongst the best games of the generation. The light/dark powers give so much to the gameplay, both platforming and fighting feel great. Admittedly my only prior experience with the series was DMC3 and I've played little of it, but I think that DmC is a step forward for the series, gameplay-wise. There's a copy of DMC4 which has been sitting here for a while and I don't know if I'll ever play it...

I'm on mission 18, I think I'm almost done. Is Vergil's Downfall worth it?
You should totally play DMC4. You get to see certain...things....how they were meant to be...but then again certain...things...only made myself (and many others) mad about other...things....that I can't quite say without spoiling. But the combat in DMC4 is great, I've been really wanting to give it another play. I'd almost say to go and play DMC3 fully first, but that all depends on your time. DMC3 was a masterpiece of a game, especially the special edition with the combat enhancements. I feel DMC4 expands on those to some degree, but not as much as I would have liked. DmC was definitely fun, and the combat was really cool, but I felt it was too easy, there wasn't enough mayhem for my liking. I'm a longtime DMC fan, and was initially outraged when they premiered DmC, but overall it's pretty dang solid. I loved the environments, and the colors, and the story telling in it. I definitely plan on going back to the DLC one day.

Wow, can't believe I was number 2 on the Wall of Shame XD! I knew I posted a lot here but...damn, didn't think I did THAT much :). I guess it was due to my excitement around the Vita's sales last month and the Ratchet Collection being a good port that caused that :D.

This month looks to be great though :). Between finally getting the Ratchet Collection for the Vita and the killer line up PS+ is having this month, this will be a great time for gaming :D!

Out of all the PS+ games, Dragons Crown really looks the most interesting out of all of them. While I didn't love Maramusa, I did really enjoy it, so if DC is a lot like that, then I should have a blast with it :). Besides, Gaf praised the game a lot and if Gaf hype taught me anything, a good deal of the time it is right (again, gotta thank you guys for getting me into the Persona series; love P4G and P3P :D!).

Metrico also looks really cool too (and the best part that it is a Vita exclusive and it is going to be 'free' day one :)).

Also have a lot of unfinished games to play to (Wild Arms 1/2, Legend of Dragoon, Batman Blackgate, Dino Crisis 1/2, Klona, Crash 1-3, Spryo 1-3.....lots of games to play though XD), so that makes this month even better :).

Hello Vitabros! I'm wondering if i can redeem dlc codes from UK retail copy of Borderlands 2 on my EU account. I was convinced that codes from UK are not redeemable on EU accounts but i somehow started doubting that in the last few days and i can't seem to find a definitive answer. Sadly my googlefu has failed me :(

I don't have an EU account (only made one to play an early Sonic Generations demo a few years back :D) but isn't UK have the same PSN as EU? If that is the case, then I think it should work :l. I am really not sure, so I don't know if that helped you but try entering the code on your EU account. If it works, then that is great :D. If it doesn't.....I don't know :(.

Sorry I can't be much help with that stuff :(.

Oh!
It's worth mentioning that anybody interested in Phantom Breaker: BG should pick up Vanguard Bandits off of the PSone JPN store.

It's by the same developer and is similar/different in a number of ways, also it is quite good.

hmm thinking of selling my PS3 retail collection..
lol but not sure whether to sell those games that I got free with PS+

since I may just stop subbing PS+ but hmm

You can. At least I could redeem UK Borderlands 2 codes on my BE account, I would assume this works for all EU accounts then.

I don't have the game yet so I can't check and I will wait untill the end of PSN summer sale to place a possible order. I was just wondering if someone has similar experience of redeeming UK vouchers on EU Vita accounts to be sure beforehand.

Thanks for kindness anyway :) Even if I don't get a definitive answer I might order it anyway, since the dlc is nice to have but won't kill me if it turns out I can't access it. It would be a different story with collections that have full games as vouchers tho...

EDIT - prgrs yeah I would assume the same. Thats nice to hear! Thanks :)

Thanks.
I've bought the game.
Same impression as you.
The game IS a simulation, so no help at all, you cannot see the table from above and so on. It looks gorgeous and it plays well. I cannot play online yet, sadly. It doens't find any opponent.

Oh, I know it's a simulation. I was just throwing it out there for those who may not.

One nice touch is being able to use the touchpad to look around the table, although I do wish it would allow you to look a little further over your shoulders.

I still haven't tried online play with it but I've noticed being unable to connect to the Pure Pool servers off and all for the last hour or so.

Wow my wallet is going to be destroyed this month. I want Akiba's Trip, Disgaea 4, Sword Art Online, Hyperdimension Neptunia, and Minecraft. Hopefully I'll be able to buy them all!

My games are either digital or imported from UK and I never had a problem redeeming any of the vouchers/DLC codes that came with games.

There is no 'EU' account, its country-specific. Having said that, most (but not all) codes work EU-wide.

Late to the party, but did anyone get Neptunia PP? Does it play kinda like Project Diva F or something? I'm awful at any rhythm game not called Patapon 2 or 3

Just finished Killzone campaign in normal mode.
I cannot understand the hate this game receive. I like this franchise a lot. ^^ I noticed the difficulty has been incresed compared with the other killzones.
Great experience and awesome graphics.

Happy new thread day!

Looking forward to Road Not Taken, The Swapper, Hohokum, CounterSpy, Metro Redux, Minecraft, Metrico, Akiba's Trip, Gravity Crash Ultra and my most anticipated game: Neptunia Re;Birth.

I was curious about the Neptunia PP game. Any impressions from GAF?

I haven't played it yet (it's sitting on my shelf though!) But someone in last month's thread was saying that it's not really an enjoyable experience if you don't like the series. I'll see if I can dig up the post.

Edit: Here's the post:

Finally beat Hyper Dimension Neptunia Producing perfection. Beaten being getting all good endings. Since I have no drive to even bother with getting True for anyone even if I have all their affection maxed.

Game was a absolute bore and chore. Blame myself for thinking we were finally getting something akin to idol master. Though this is the farthest thing from it. All of the dialog while the VAs did good work isn't worth pressing the same jobs on a day, and performing terrible dance sections where wagging the camera and activating a stage effect at the right time is all you need.

Definitely not worth the 40 retail whatever it is on psn. If you gave already been waiting on it you're better off waiting until this hits the 15 price. Especially since getting the good or true ends doesn't take long at all. Plus not a lot of meat here to justify a price more than that.

TLDR: HDNPP is neither a good VN due to all the management that adds nothing to that expierence. Nor a good Diva game since its so light on features and the main gameplay element is boring and broken.

That seems like a terrible idea. You'll likely regret it down the line and due to your location it'll probably be harder for you to buy your collection back

It's rare that I've ever sold a video game on any platform and haven't regretted it. There are exceptions, but those are cases where I had a game worth $150 or something and didn't like it.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely wait for a low price on Neptunia PP then. $40 always seemed a bit steep.

While I'm asking for info about old games, anyone get Battle Princess of Arcadias? Another game priced just a bit above what I'd impulse buy.

Just finished Killzone campaign in normal mode.

I liked it too. I don't think the series will ever be forgiven for the "halo killer" branding press tried to give it. Mad props to them for doing free map packs too, paid DLC multiplayer stuff is horrible for what it does to the playerbase.

Oh, crap.

I just realized that Cellar Doors added some Steam Achievements to the Steam version (duh) of Rogue Legacy after I had S-Ranked the game. I really, really liked it when I finished it the first time, and the Achievements seemed easy enough, so I downloaded it again to try to complete it once more...

... but the game on PC doesn't use Steam Cloud! All my progress is gone! All those unlockabled! Everything!

Should I double dip and buy it on Vita, since I'm starting from scratch again? Pls only completely unbiased personal opinions, pls. Thx.

Not at all, it's more of a visual novel with some stat management. The concerts are really flawed because it may send you to the end once you get enough shares and it can mess up a playthrough before you even get the chance to activate the true end and that you can get max rating on a concert by
panning the camera left and right constantly to fill the meter.
It's really all about seeing the events by doing certain activities and having the right stats for some. I found some moments pretty fun and some tracks are somewhat catchy, but as a game it's pretty bad. It totally depends on the persons kind of humor and if they like the game universe and such.

And does Sony honor price mistakes? I want to play Phantom Breaker Battle Ground but the price is still wrong.

Not even releasing for another week, right? I'd definitely wait and see if they fix it at/before launch.

Still no release date for Phantom Breaker PS4? Would prefer that one

5pb sale on JPSN starting on the 13th. Some ridiculous discount percentages here.

Right after I just bought a physical copy of phenogram last week for full price (ヽ´ω`)

I'm in for Hohokum (already preordered), Counterspy, Diablo 3: UEE, and Infamous: First Light along with the PS+ offerings. Plus I plan on picking up Oddworld from last month. What are the chances of a Gamescom-related sale? If Media Molecule is there, I hope there's a Tearaway sale this month!

Ah, I referred to the European version that released this Wednesday. 5pb Games USA said it would be 10 or "10.7" euros but it apparently released at 14.49€. The only response I've seen has been pretty unambiguous. I'd have no problem buying it if they would refund the difference somehow later. But that's if.

Ohh, weird. Yeah that's not really clear if it's going to be fixed or not. Never heard of PSN doing a refund except for stuff like TLOU Remastered where the price was officially adjusted and before launch.

Whenever they give a game on PS+ that I already have a retail copy of, I sell it on eBay (as fast as possible while it's resell value is still decent). It just seems redundant to keep it.

The day I unsubscribe from PS+ is probably when I won't own any PS consoles anymore.
