PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Think I'm going to grind out the platinum in P4G. I love the game enough that Hardcore Risette Fan won't be enough to make me hate it. The rest of them are relatively simple. Can't decide how much of the compendium I actually want to tackle in my first playthrough since grinding money is a lot easier in NG+ when I can increase how much I get.

I'm used to doing dungeon grinding with sound turned off so going for HRF is going to be a new experience.

Make sure you don't miss the Book that the Sports(Strength I think) Social Link gives you like I did! D:

After getting around to lvl 90 with Arashimaru MUCH quickier than with Gonbe, I'm led to believe that the latter had either enemy scaling or xp earning bugged - I can powerlevel quickly with Ara in Hida (same as Momo and Kisuke), but gave up with Gonbe since it was so. slow.

Might get Ara's second ending today, and then comes the waiting for the 4th DLC~

Any chances we'll see Infamous at a decent discount during Summersale?
Now with the Neon standalone being released it would be a good deal, especially at 50% or higher :)

Anyone else really hyped to for The Swapper?

Kind of. I don't know if I'll drop 15€+- on it knowing that it's Curve game (so it could either be free or less than 5€ in less than a month after release).

I'm realising I have too many game sitting here for both PS3 and Vita and need to stop tossing money at games I'll play some years from now... :/

As I said before I preordered it from the EU store for about 10€.

I'm getting Akiba's Trip in September.

...need to grab Drakengard 3 soon. Surprisngly my local shop got a copy, hope they still have it...

Having subbed for 2 years it is something I'm used to now. But whenever I buy a game and a week later it is available on PS Plus I feel like a right idiot.

That nearly happened to me with Hotline Miami for the Vita. I was like "whew, dodged a bullet there"! Generally, I think you've just got to accept that it's going to occasionally happen. You can't let it stop you from buying the games you want.

If you've got more than one device (I've got PS4 + Vita), Plus still makes a ton of sense and is definitely good value.

Most of my Vita games are PS+ titles, i think the only ones i've actually bought are Terraria, Tearaway, Metal Gear Solid Double pack and Borderlands 2. The rest either came with the console or were PS+ titles. I don't tend to worry about the whole "if i buy it now, will it be free next month" idea.

Rogue Legacy is the perfect side game. I have some time before leaving for school/work? I do a quick run. Got free time before bed? Another quick run. Game is fantastic, it plays amazing and is very well suited for quick burst of play.

Most of my stuff is from ps + too, but I have some chunk I bought, like Tearaway, Toukiden, P4G (those retail) and Rayman Legends, Unit13 and at least 2-3 more I can't remember right now. Plus all the PSP and Ps1 stuff I've gotten since I got my Vita.

I was eying the copy in my own store incidentally. One needs to be familiar with the series to play it right? Not a self-contained title?
Disgaea, Xillia 2, Akibas's Trip,and Re;Birth....man August is a great month.
Crap. Xillia 2 is this month? Nooooo. My wallet. My free time ;(

For some reason my Vita's internet connection is really weak. It has been like this for the past few weeks. Internet connection test results are as expected and I don't have problem with any of the devices at home but anything internet related is a no go on the Vita. Does not connect to the store most of the time and when it connects it stops loading a few second later and pages come up empty. Anything I can do?

You're right... that's definitely a good price. Glad to see they're doing actual $->€ conversions
(though I still don't know if I'm getting it...wednesday I'm gonna have 2 more games in my already big Vita backlog)

Vergil's Downfall is awesome, they finally get rid of color coded enemies and playing as Vergil is a lot of fun, he feels faster than Dante.

That's cool! I'll get it as soon as it goes on sale, thanks!

You should totally play DMC4. You get to see certain...things....how they were meant to be...but then again certain...things...only made myself (and many others) mad about other...things....that I can't quite say without spoiling. But the combat in DMC4 is great, I've been really wanting to give it another play. I'd almost say to go and play DMC3 fully first, but that all depends on your time. DMC3 was a masterpiece of a game, especially the special edition with the combat enhancements. I feel DMC4 expands on those to some degree, but not as much as I would have liked. DmC was definitely fun, and the combat was really cool, but I felt it was too easy, there wasn't enough mayhem for my liking. I'm a longtime DMC fan, and was initially outraged when they premiered DmC, but overall it's pretty dang solid. I loved the environments, and the colors, and the story telling in it. I definitely plan on going back to the DLC one day.

I don't have DMC3, I should get the trilogy someday if I can find it for dirty cheap... I'll try to play it before 4 then!
Meanwhile I wanted to see Ninja Theory's first attempt at the genre and started Heavenly Sword(got a year ago for 5€). I think I'm halfway thorugh. The combat is definitely reminding me of DmC as you can switch in real time between light/normal/heavy attacks with L/R and combine them... I'm liking it. There are a couple things off though, like framerate and inputs and the Kai sections (too many and not too good).
I remember people calling it a GOW clone back in the days, but it's nothing like that...the game is all about action and the combat it's deeper than GOW's. It lacks the epicness and the overall refinement of the God of War games, but it's still a good and underrated action game. A PS4 60 FPS re-release with tighter controls would be very cool, they could pair it with that HS movie announced not so long ago.

edit: double post, sorry. Didn't realize it was the same thread lol

What a great day for my gaming ego xD. I've just beaten 3-2, 3-3 and 1-3 in Demon's Souls (boss 1-3 was an adrenaline rush for me, you really need to know how to use your rolling skills to defeat this guy) and I've played some extra levels in Jet Set Radio.

I'll say it again. This game is great. It has some of the old clunkyness from the 6th gen (weird hitboxes and some weird camera angles) but it's pure charm. Great music, graphics that have aged quite well (everything is low poly, most stuff are plain surfaces with textures, but it's not noticeable unless you're on a first plane), gameplay is great. If it wasn't for all the love this game gets on GAF I'd have never given it a try.

Make sure "Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode" in Settings > Power Save Settings is unchecked, it'll take your wifi chip out of power save mode and strengthen the quality of your connection for faster downloads over a distance.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of such an option but it is already unchecked. I don't see anything else in the settings that might be the cause. I guess only option left is restoring the system which is quite a hassle.

Try rebooting your router.

If you're unsure how to do that, the easiest method is to unplug it, wait ten seconds, then plug it back in. Could be something to do with the way it's connecting currently, and your router needs a reboot to fix it (this is a common issue, unfortunately).

I've only bought one game for my PS4 (TLoU) and I still have plenty to play. PS+ made buying a PS4 a much easier choice. That, and I got it for a great sale price.

The indie hate I see on the PS Blog always depresses me.

Never change, man :P.

I am! Patrick Klepek sure has talked enough about it. Preordered that and CounterSpy

personally it has the potential to become my game of the year :)

Good. Good.

No...because I played it on PC and it was one of the best games of 2013. You'll like it. Don't worry about controls either, I played it with a gamepad.

I've already played the first forty minutes or so on PC actually. Loved it, but I never got around to finishing it. I was wondering how well the controls would translate to controllers, but glad to hear it still plays well!

Just recently finished 999 ("safe" ending on first play through). Am I weird that I vastly prefer Danganronpa? Is VLR a lot different?

Until you hit the true ending in 999 you've only played half the game. You'll probably change your mind at least in terms of plot, not necessarily gameplay.

Keep going, you haven't reached the best part of 999 yet. I thought VLR was quite a bit inferior to 999 in terms of story and atmosphere. Still, you should give it a shot.

Got the second ending on the 3rd Muramasa DLC (Arashimaru). His last ability makes him invincible while his air secret art is active, lol. But he's a beast before that already, really liked playing with him.

Well, you only properly finish it when you get the true ending. Keep playing - you'll get really hooked to it soon enough.

There's a true ending. Get that and then you win 999.

Then play Super Danganronpa 2 in September and have your mind blown at how much better it is than Danganronpa 1

999 and VLR as a whole have one of my most favorite narrative centered plots from any game I've played. You will only truly appreciate them once you get that True Ending. DG is good, but it is no 999. Idk about DG2, but I just don't think you can even compare both in terms of what they do, and how they do it.

Quick question and something I probably should have asked looong ago.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0072A4JVW/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Is this considered the hand grip add-on for the Vita? I remember a while back that there was one that scratched triggers or ruined them in some way. So I want to see if there's anything that's considered the best. I have an OLED Vita, not the new one.

I have this one and it feels good but the triggers get sort of stuck on the shoulder buttons, which is really annoying. I switched to a different grip that left the L and R buttons bare.

Am I weird that I vastly prefer Danganronpa?

Don't worry, you're not the only one.
One is in danger of not getting a sequel while the other had a enhanced port collection with very good sales, and is also getting a spin-off. Well, at the very least the word of mouth on DGRP is better in Japan.

And I'm going to buy that spin-off. I mean... who else would refuse to shoot Monokuma?

On the other hand, it's probably better not to compare them. Expectations (especially in games) are the last thing you want to detriment your enjoyment.

When people talk about 999 and VLR I wish I could erase my mind and play them again. Absolutely my favourite stories in any game ever, potentially in any form of media ever actually. They're wonderful games.

Wish I could have played 999. I have VLR, but I haven't played it yet as I wanted to play 999 first. Only thing is I don't own a DS or 3DS. Guess I better get on that.

The mobile version is only on iOS correct? No Android version?
