PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Game is absolutely fantastic. Brilliant and intriguing story mixed with deep sad atmosphere and smart puzzles. There are couple tough puzzles though, at least I had to look into solution a few times. One of the best games I've ever played, period. I say you can safely pre-order it, if you're into this kind of games.
Yea it looked awesome from the start and impressions and reviews sealed the deal, i like puzzle games and this one seems to have some interesting mechanics and a great atmosphere, Surprised to hear from you that there is a good story as well, Hope i wont have to use the guide too often, Thanks for the impressions!

Portal isn't known for portals alone, but for characters as well.
The Swapper raises the question of the nature of human soul and what is it actually to be.

I found a couple of cheap Japanese and North American PS4/Vita games in Hong Kong, but there weren't anything I really wanted. Ended up buying K-pop merchandise instead.

Why isn't IA/VT out yet? That's my most wanted import game, and I'm leaving Japan in a week and a half. :(

Tell me it was GG.

So the items in Treasures of Montezuma Arena seem poorly thought out. The blocks that can cause damage are skulls, blue, red, and white. You can buy items that block all damage from skulls, reduce blue damage to 1, and reduce red damage to 2. They didn't seem to think about how long a match would take if both players had all those items equipped.

I had to fight one of those guys, sadly I don't have these items. Needless to say I lost that match big time.
The game is incredible slow and boring, comparing with Blitz.

Honestly I think losing is the best case scenario in that situation. After thinking about it some I'm not sure a match between two people with all those items is even winnable. I think quitting the match is pretty much the only option, but I don't know what the penalty is for that. Another thing that annoys me about the game is sometimes the game will tell you that you have already faced the other player and won't give you a new opponent. You have to spend crystals to skip to the next player.

I've noticed that going back to the tournament/story selection screen and then back again to challenge, gives you sometimes another challenger.

Thank god, finally completed my no death run in Dark Souls II to get this dumb ring, now I can move on to other things. Trying to complete a Souls game without dying a single time was one of the most stressful things I ever decided to do, and honestly not as rewarding as the first time I killed Quelaag when I was new to the first game, but still feels really good.

Very interested in Disgaea 4 on vita, but had a questions for anyone who has played it already. Got D3 for free on PS+, but couldn't really get into it at the start because of the overly non serious plot/main character. Is D4 similar or does it have a more serious storyline? (honestly, D3 could have a serious storyline too after the beginning, I didn't get far at all) I would look it up myself but I'm worried looking into something like that would be full of plot spoilers. I'm not really describing my problem with D3 well, but I hope you get the idea.

The mobile version is still just called Chaos Rings III

The Vita version is more expensive, packaged, and called Chaos Rings III Prequel Trilogy

If the game was 3 brand new, unreleased parts, why would they not also call the mobile version Chaos Rings III Prequel Trilogy? Why would the Vita version be so much more expensive? There's no way 'trilogy' doesn't simply refer to the previous games being included. There's also likely no screenshots from the previous games because they're probably a straight port with minimal graphical tweaking/changes.

if this is true then im praying for localization

For folks in the know with IA/VT can they tell me what to expect in terms of gameplay? I watched some of the trailers and aside from being incredibly stylish I sort of got a Gitaroo Man and Hatsune Miku vibe.

Gitaroo Man is the most popular comparison.

The remake of James Pond 2 Codename Robocod will come only for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Xbox One and maybe iOS, while Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Android versions are canned.

Is that a good James Pond game?

The Swapper is downloaded/preloaded on my Vita.

^Swapper discussion thread, if the mods still let it stay, please use it to discuss the game =)

I'm trying to stay all digital as long as I can. Are there any plans for a sale or price drop for Infamous Second Son since the DLC is releasing this month? I just completed Infamous 2 which had been on my backlog for over a year and want to get the the sequel while the story and control layout is still fresh in my memory. Trying to hold out for a deal, but if not, I'll pick up a copy from Amazon.

Wow, Vita in favor of PS3, Wii U, 360 and Android? Impressive.

Just being a bro, to all of my fellow Canadians on amazon.ca most upcoming games on the Vita, PS4 and PS3 are now discounted. If you have any pre orders, you might want to change those, as for me none of the prices changed from the original ones.

The Amiga version was very good, the PS1 version apparently not.
Anyway i'm pessimistic that the remake will be a good game, Amiga is a 25 years old machine and its games didn't have an evolution in the meantime, like Nintendo games for example, so faithful remakes/ports will feel archaic and limited.

Given that the previous iOS games already are localized it would surprise me if the Vita version wasn't localized (probably digital only)

A good sign is that the japanese PSM version of the game also includes the english script so that may be some evidence that the game is pretty easy to localize.

Any reason I would want to get Phantom Breaker on Vita instead of waiting for the PS4 version? Still no release date on that one. I like my Vita but I like PS4 with optional remote play more.

I don't know why but Destiny of Spirits suddenly started to click with me today. I think having a lot of spirits helps a lot. I still HATE the limited collection slots that makes it impossible to own every spirit in the game.

I assume this is the best place to ask this...

Why aren't PS1 Psygnosis games on PSN? I wanted a bit of Overboard and Rollcage on my Vita and they're nowhere to be found.

I assume it's some sort of licensing issue but it seems strange in this case as Sony were the company that bought them out.

Hopefully there'll be a drop to coincide, but it's pretty fresh so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I will say though, you don't need the story fresh in your head for SS itself.

Could you tell me where you found them? I'll be in HK next week and am looking for a few video game purchases. I'm also planning on buy a ps3 or ps4 depending on the HK price for ps4 not being too expensive.

Sounds like we're now entering the beginning of the end for the Vita in NA.

It had to come to this eventually, retailers are getting fed up with the Vita not selling enough. And then it's only going to get worse from there.

That is a shame :(; if Sony would of just shipped more Borderlands 2 bundles to retailers, the Vita might of had a chance of selling some more....

I think a good bet is to really ride off of the PlayStation TV this fall; if Sony could sell a ton of those, then they unofficially 'sold' Vita's (as the PS TV is a gutted Vita without a battery and screen). I think if that is who they sell the Vita to people in the future, retailers might be more welcoming of the original Vita hardware being sold, notably is there are some PS TV games that require the gamer to own the Vita 1000/2000 to play some games (a very real possibility; games like Tearaway, Gravity Rush and LBP Vita require extensive use of the gyro/touch screen/rear-touch pad).

Either way, I hope things get better for the Vita :(; such a wonderful piece of hardware doesn't deserve to die like this X(.

is the rogue legacy vita port working fine and dandy?

Nice! Updated my Shinovi Versus Legs Get Physical order to get the $44.99 price.

One of them releases next week. The other one haven't released yet in Japan.

Shit. Doesn't affect me too much though, mostly indie and JP games I'm interested in anyway. Hope Vita TV does better in the west than JP. I wonder if Vita's high digital attach rate doesn't have something to do with retailers not liking it too. Even if you buy a Vita at retail, the crazy memory cards are almost the only reason to prefer physical, collectors aside.

Wow that's true, all 3 games I currently have on preorder are discounted. Guess I should cancel and recreate them all then.

Do we know why it's currently like this? And for how long?

But if the Vita dies here, that will definitely impact the flow of localization and indies.
