Twitch: Changes To Audio In VODS

Aren't you some kind of games journalist? Maybe you should try asking some questions like this rather than falling back on the usual pattern of acting as corporate ambassador?

First, no, I'm not a games journalist. Second, this literally just happened, and I was offering my opinion on streamers playing copyrighted music from Spotify or whatever behind gameplay. I still think that has always been a bad idea. No need to get all huffy about it.

Now that examples have been shown of this affecting gameplay without external audio... yeah, that's unequivocally crappy. Hope they get this sorted.

OK, OK.

So at first I thought this was something to do with voiceover stuff, i.e. if you are listening to music over your stream and it comes through...

But now...it seems like it's a loophole to avoid copyright infringement or something? Am I understanding this right?

Hey, I'm not even mad about this audio bs... because I won't be able to watch vods older than 14 days anyway.

gg no re and RIP twitch.tv

Twitch just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about internet gaming culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is on Youtube where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over on the internet, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the gaming public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to partner with Twitch for sponsorship, nor will they stream any of Twitch's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Twitch has alienated an entire market with this move.

Twitch, publicly apologize and cancel this content muting bullshit or you can kiss your business goodbye.

If Hitbox becomes a serious player from the fallout of all this Twitch stuff how fast do you think we'll see PS4 and Xbox One integration?

Should at least be able to upload unmuted footage to YouTube and let YouTube's superior content scanning handle it. If you aren't monetizing they will sometimes put a link to a song on your video instead of outright muting it.

I've been watching PCULL44444 play Fallout and he just tweeted his past broadcasts of it are muted and it's been nothing but in game radio

Lol muting in game music
this is the quickest way to kill a successful business, good job there Twitch

Considering they're migrating awful Youtube talent like Machinima, I think they're really going to try and rely on the Youtube famous on Twitch. I thought one of the biggest things on Twitch next to mobas was speedrunning, and that whole thing seems fucked by the audio and time limit on vods.

Despite the utter shittiness of this move, I rarely watch VOD's, I mainly watch live broadcasts. So this shouldn't affect me much bar any streamers that I watch, leaving Twitch.

Wasn't there a deal with Twitch on both of those? I hope there is a backlash. Someone big needs to make the first move though.

Seeing also from Evil Geniuses those guys only play dota 2. Also big portions muted because in-game music. This is beyond idiotic and pathetic.
