Ryse Son of Rome coming to PC this fall [no port begging other games]

It is, for those that have gaming PCs.

It's not going to change the mind of your average consumer who (if they even consider it) could pick between building a gaming system or buying a $400 (or cheaper) system in the future.
That's how I see it. It might stem off some people but I still think there's a good amount that's gonna pick the console. XONE owners who have completely resigned themselves to the PC will probably give you a thumbs up if anything.

Frankly I'm not sure why anyone with a capable PC that enjoys PC gaming would be buying on console to begin with.
Nintendo and the rest of Japan.

As for Ryse, probably will be nice looking as well, still not that excited about the gameplay.

don't most games make equal or more amount of money from PC than other platforms?

What? No, it varies incredibly widely. Maybe indies make equal on PC. Lots of AAA get like 2% (Ghosts, I think, watchdogs was similar) on PC. Surprised and glad they bother to port to PC. Hard to estimate due to digital sales though which no one tracks well, and lots of "wow we sold so many copies (at $1) on steam!" stuff that convolutes what the numbers actually mean.

A lot of us don't play F2P MOBAs though. Plenty of games in my Library, only MOBA is Awesomenaughts thanks to a bundle.

I always thought that the game looks repetitive, but the presentation is still impressive. The big issue for is that after playing Crysis 3 I'm pretty sure my rig isn't good enough for Ryse and that I have to jump in later.

At lesst this will finally be able to be good at something, graphics. Running at higher resolution, alone, will benefit greatly. The game play is another matter.

You could've said the same for other remastered games that didn't sell anything close to the originals and didn't noticeably move hardware. Final Fantasy X/X-2, Wind Waker HD, etc.

There's a trend here that shouldn't be ignored.

I can play wind waker with no issues. I can't play Halo 2 Multiplayer, or Halo CE multiplayer.

I think the sales of this game will surprise people but we will wait and see

Looks like evidence that MS has made an internal decision to give up on the Xbox One. They'll cash in as much as they can, make up as many losses as possible with minimal expenditure, and put on a brave face for any potential buyers of the Xbox division (although I can't imagine there would be many...or probably any), but they're no longer going to make big investments in exclusive stuff and they're no longer going to try to seriously compete in the market. If you're buying for future potential, I really wouldn't recommend getting an Xbone at this point.

Anyways, it'll mean I'll be able to play most of the worthwhile "exclusives" without buying the console. Looking forward to Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, and MCC on the PC!

Just kiddin around

Halo MCC isn't coming to PC. At least not this year. MS is going to sell a ton of ones with that game, even more than Titanfall did.

It just wouldn't make any sense at all, having Every Halo MP ever on PC.

Having a game division solely focused on trying to sell a console for TV in a mobile first, cloud first company with a core mission on productivity and platform doesn't make sense either.

I'm feeling pretty confident that over the course of this generation we'll see MS position the Xbox One as a premier device showcasing Windows for TV.

May be a step towards build once to play on PC or Xbox One (and maybe mobile/tablet), like the universal development for apps they previewed earlier this year at Build. It entices more devs to Microsoft dev tools and Windows first for widest reach on the most screens, using a common infrastructure with Azure. Certainly makes gaming fit the company agenda that way.

I think the main reason Microsoft is allowing it's exclusive games to be released on PC is to pre-emptively combat SteamOS or as a value add for those who stick with Windows. I can't see either this or Dead Rising 3 getting ported to Linux.

Well this was unexpected. Although, I wouldnt be surprised if this is why Crytek refused to sell the IP to MS. Also this is another example of why MS needs more internal development teams and less reliance on 3rd parties. Losing exclusives to other platforms doesnt help your own.

Congrats to all you PC people that get another game!

Wow, I'll wait for a steam sale, but at least now it'll run at a solid framerate and at least 1080p. I'm honestly surprised, between this and Dead Rising 3. Wonder why MS is loosing their exclusives.

This is exactly why having a strong first party is important. At this rate, the only exclusives will end up being their usual Halo/Gears/Forza cycle. I wouldn't be surprised (well, not anymore now that they've lost Ryse, DR3, PvZ and likely the Titanfall franchise) if QB hits PC eventually (Like Alan Wake before it), same for SO.

So yea, MS, get to working on your first party. It's about time.

Comes out after Ryse does.

You don't understand the draw of Halo then.
It's some of the best games ever, including the best console MP ever by all accounts, playable again.

I understand that 7+ year old games no matter how good aren't moving a ton of units.

So is this game at least fun in a get drunk and play it in one go type of way? The videos make it seem so... Boring.

It is pretty bad.

lol at the spoiler

In all seriousness, Nadella acknowledged that gaming is king in time spent and revenue in a mobile first world. He recognized the Xbox division for advancing technology in a number of ways that impacted many of their productivity and platform achievements.

I don't think the gaming division is going anywhere, but their ultimate purpose now is to advance and showcase Microsoft productivity and platforms for universal game development as a no-brainer.

Devs win. Consumers win. Microsoft wins by having more devs and consumers use their platform. The only losers are the console warriors.

We needed a new gif-game that Durante could go nuts on. Unexpected as hell as I'd expect this to never see the light of day except in list wars. Going to pick it up once it drops cheap to see the visuals shine.

QB is first party, MS owns the IP, it isn't anything like Alan Wake

And nice of you to conveniently ignore all of their other first party games when saying they will fall into a Halo/Gears/Forza cycle.

Although I wish I could say I'm surprised to see you doing this lol.

Good to see a release for those who are interested, I may even grab it even though the game was turd when I played on the Xbone.

Microsoft published, correct? Less than a year but a good amount of months after release seems like a release schedule I could get behind if they continued it.

Well this was completely unexpected.

I do like the whole Roman setting even if the combat looks extremely dull. So I'll probably get it cheap during a Steam sale. Shouldn't take it too long to drop in price.

Halo MCC is going to be fall's best selling Xbox One exclusive game, mark my words.

FTFY
