I can't have been the only one who took a quick glance at the pic of the day and thought this was a stage that turned the characters into sprite versions of themselves.

What could've been. D:

That Dedede palette is always said at various sources to be GB inspired but I never associated sepia with the GB. Green (like this stage) and B&W are the usual GB palettes. Or is it based on the default SGB or GBC palette?

Perhaps it's because the Kirby characters' artwork for those games was also monochrome?

I already preordered Smash Bundle for Wii U and Smash 3DS. I'm looking forward for Smash roster to be reveal in a month.

5 more weeks, 25 more daily images, 1 more direct (hopefully) :D

Well that makes sense for Kirby. Also because he was original designed in black and white his colour wasn't decided on till later. Miyamoto thought he should be yellow whereas Sakurai chose pink, which is why yellow Kirby is often used as P2 in games.

But Dedede's colour still perplexes me. Perhaps it's related to Japanese GameBoy media and maybe they often showed screenshots in a more sepia tone. In Adventure he had red highlights, DL2 his SGB palette was pinky purple. DL wasn't a SGB title but it had a programmed default palette, but that just makes the whole game purple and pink. So yeah, its origin for me is a bit of a mystery and I feel the GameBoy idea became popular based on instinct but no one really bothered to source it.
 
It's possible that we still have Classic, Adventure and All-Stars since we spotted three different trophies of Wii Fit Trainer (Female) Unless they changed the requirement to earn those trophies.
 
hey guys....with so few weeks left until Japanese release -- what if there are no more characters to be revealed besides 2 newcomers or something? Maybe Sakurai cut them all...

If there are stage-based bosses we might still have a Boss Run mode that could be providing one of those.

Classic and All-Star are absolutely in, but Adventure seems redundant with the new more complex Classic mode available.

I don't know why people are assuming the whole roster will be shown before launch. Brawl held back tons of new characters and veterans for post-release reveals.

Probably because Brawl's entire roster was revealed by the time of the worldwide launch, whereas SSB4's release dates are much less staggered.

Well, do you really think Sakurai can get away with that nowadays? I just feel like the minute the 3DS game releases, someone is going to tear it apart in under like 12 hours.

That's exactly what happened with Brawl. The game was in people's hands at least a week before the street date in Japan and we found out the full roster pretty fast. Sakurai then dedicated the rest of the Dojo between the Japanese and International releases to unlockables.

Yeah, the situation isn't new or anything. It's going to be leaked, he doesn't really need to be able to get away with it.

I think we'll see another veteran before launch (or maybe that + a newcomer when there's a Direct), but that's going to be it. We'll have ~8 veterans and ~3 newcomers left in the game unrevealed at release.

Exactly. They're not concerned about people discovering stuff on their own and sharing it, it's a tool to keep people going to the website and keep news articles about the game going for a while after it hits as they officially show off a few more characters.

They won't just dump everything onto the website at once come launch day. It's going to be spaced out, especially since the Wii-U version comes out like two months later.
 
I personally don't really care about any of the remaining veterans at this point, but I know y'all want them, so I want them for your sake.

Also, I feel like we're getting at least 90% of them back, so I'm just not worried.
 
The bad thing about the Gameboy stage is that it will be limited to two songs :(

Both songs better be medleys in that case.

I would say 78-83% if you are looking at 14 veterans. Snake, Lucas, Ivysaur and Squirtle are more likely to be cut.
