Comments from Celtic manager Ronny Deila:

"First of all I feel very sorry for Legia, and my friends from Norway there.

"It is tough to think of that as a positive thing. But now we are in the Champions League.

"I am a football manager and I have to go with it and now we are preparing for Maribor."

"It is not my business. It is an issue for UEFA."

Well said I think.

Somewhere in Poland, a secretary is getting absolutely battered

Strange to think that as soon as clubs lose a match, they must scour the other team's squad list and cross-reference it with their past squad lists, signings and suspensions, all while keeping an eye on the small-print of UEFA's rules and regulations, looking fo anything that could get the result overturned
It was actually one of the assigned Swiss UEFA delegates that brought it to their attention. That is what they're paid for, after all.

Really hope Shad can keep the players fit. Between injuries and departures Wenger has had to play from weak hands. The departures are fixed, here's hope to us not topping the injury league.

Can't wait for the season. The Pool-Everton 3-3 sogood.gif

Hope Vermaelen is replaced quickly.

David Ornstein ‏@bbcsport_david 5h
Arsenal continue search Vermaelen replacement & also in market for DMF, but may sign 1 player who can perform both roles #afc #bbcsportsday.

Gotta be Big Willy.

I think we'll get a CB and DMF.

--- Jones - Evans - New CB ---

Cuadrado - Herrera - Vidal - Young

PL Winners 2014/15

The Zuculini move to Depor was a done deal, but Pellegrini stopped the operation. Fuck you Ingeniero, you utter fucking cunt. Mou was right about you.

For what it's worth, COPE are apparently reporting that "City have promised Deportivo they will work with them in future" -- whatever that means. Maybe some priority on a future loan for him or another player or something, who knows.

Chambo 2.0 can do a job there probably. CDM is more vital.

What does ArseGAF think of Agger? Wasn't he taken off or something in a Pool match (vs Swansea?) when he mentally crumbled?

He is 19 and has played 25 times in the pl.

He has played 2 preseason games for us.

If Kos or Per gets hurt I would not feel comfortable with Chambers starting against City/United/Chelsea/Liverpool.

No excuse to not bring in a CB and DMF. We have the money.

£50m for Luiz
£15m for Vermaelen
£15m for Garcia

Stunning. Tempted to put Hames in there as well, but I can't pretend to have watched enough of the Portuguese or French leagues to do it

Gonna add Cuadrado to that list soonish too.

Just thinking that we might end up selling de Jong for 10m makes me want to throw up.

Ideally, I'd like a DM and CB.

Getting someone like say, Carvalho, wouldn't be enough because we could be caught in a bad place if an injury occurred to Koscielny/Mertesacker.

Don't think it's a very good idea to drop Chambers off the deep end in his first season.

The thing is but will Wenger bring a CB who can really challenge for a starting spot or just a back up if Per or Kos get injured.

I trust Wenger's judgement on that one.

Though yes, we have the money, and getting a CDM and CB should wrap up things nicely.

No one talking abt Agger?

Game of the season tbh, much as the result annoyed me

Neither team could be bothered to defend :P

Call me suicidal but I was there at the heart of the Everton fans. Always nice to slowly nod your head in agreement with a 70+ something grinning man just to survive the moment after Everton scoring 3-2.

Arsenal can forget Nastasic though, seems like a lot of people want him on Twitter. Rekik is going to PSV so Nastasic is staying.

Great story on Sanchez http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...all-town-hero-to-Arsenals-35-million-man.html

"Four factors are understood to have been crucial in Sanchez's decision. The London location, the belief that Arsenal are better placed to regularly qualify for the Champions League, the chance to play with Mesut Ozil and also the personal intervention of Wenger, who speaks fluent Spanish, and met with Sanchez's representatives in Brazil during the World Cup."

I like reading accounts from the days where Liverpool and Everton fans would quite happily share stands. Would be nice to go back to that, last season we seemed a lot less toxic towards eachother

Martin Blackburn @SunMartinB · 34m
Offer from Zenit for Garcia is 15 million euros + 1m euros in add ons. (= £12m + £800k approx). Not far off what #mcfc want.

Holy shit so it's real, he's been the quickest all summer to get MCFC confirmation about stuff. I can't believe City are getting that much for him. Zenit have been chasing Sandro but apparently (?) they want at least £20m for him, this is a bit cheaper at least.

This basically means City has another £20m to spend on players if they want without breaking FFP, but it seems like Pellegrini is satisfied.

I really hope this happens, because if Fellaini goes to Napoli it means Sandro is probably staying.

And the opportunity to make passes to Giroud

Dc'd quite hard m8

I like Vermalen, as long as he is fit (BIG IF), he can also play as a left back which can be questionable. However,

Defender wise, Verm for 15m, Garay for 12m seem very low.

Also why is Nastasic on the transfer wire, he is fantastic imo.

Wouldn't Kompany, Demichelis, Mangala, Sagna and Boyata be enough?

Sagna is only 176cm, way too short for a CB. No one is sure why Boyata is left, but I guess he fancied to stay for another two years and City are probably glad they have a very cheap 5th backup.

He'll have two players for each position, so Kompany/Demichelis and Mangala/Nastasic.

You think a club like City is going to use a RB at CB?
They wouldn't need to for 99% of the season and are about to sign a £32m CB.

Also; we could send that £15m + their way to help with FFP.

#FreeNastasić

He would be fine for an attacking team like City, you've got lots of tall players.

Boyata is still there because he gets paid more to fulfil a quota and waste his career than he would if he moved to his level, which is League 1 at best

Nastasic isn't very good on the ball and isn't the fastest, Pellegrini favour technically able defenders who are "OK" defensively á la Demichelis. There's also Rekik who isn't as good defensively as Nastasic, but much better on the ball.

He didn't really have the best season last year either, big problems with the offside traps and high line. He almost seemed scared at times and went out injured for weeks with no one finding any problems with his body.

I guess he (and Lescott) were perfect for Mancini's tactics, where the defenders weren't expected to help offensively and speed wasn't as important with a "low" line. Pellegrini now wants the opposite.

I don't really care who we get at CB as long as they are good enough to challenge for a starting spot. Now that Per and Kos know they are the starting pair I don't want them to relax.

I think they knew it would take some royal fuckups from them in order to get dropped for Verms.

Can't wait to see Chelsea lose to both Fenerbahce and Besiktas tonight. Also means I won't watch the first Championship game that I was kind of looking forward too.

Exactly. Having only two real CB's with our backup RB and a CDM to cover in defense is kind of dumb and leaves us in a bad position, plus if our CDM is playing well, I don't want to waste him by pushing him back.

I do think jtb is right about Mou vs. Wenger this year.

At Emirates I expect a nil-nil, maybe one-nil if we are lucky.

Away though I expect us to lose by a couple. Even if we sign a dm.

The only thing I like about Mou is how ruthless he is in building the squad he wants.
