Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

Or in other words...

haha, true.
Difference is that if they put in non-white characters or people ask for non-white characters my answer is "sure. Sounds good to me" rather than drawing a strawman picture implying people who want non-white folk are ugly and fat :P

Actually thinking about a GB music medley; if the stage transforms into various GB titles it would be cool if the music followed. If this happened it could mean the order of the transformations would be fixed to stay in time with the music. This would also tie into the removal of random elements these titles have.

Thank god Miis made it in.

Pretty much the only way to get non-white representation in smash.

plz no jokes about non-human chars with green/purple/whatever skin, you get my point.
Yeah, I get your point. We all want him to make it in:
But seriously, is there an African American Nintendo character that has a chance of making it in that I'm not thinking about?

I was just trying to think of a humanoid Nintendo character who isn't white and isn't a weird case like Ganondorf. Other than Anthony Higgs, no one comes to mind.

I thought like his people was based around like middle eastern type stuff

That's definitely the inspiration for the Gerudo, but Ganondorf himself has olive green skin - a color, as far as I know, not found in the natural world.

It had no clear info other than turning the 3D to see the Gameboy like it's actually there.
Yes, but the concept of a stage being based on the contents of a GameBoy screen isn't that confusing when we've had stages like that before.

Though, the 3D comment makes me wonder if the camera is always fixed on this stage or is this just a screenshot from fixed camera mode. If the camera can still zoom in and out the illusion of the GameBoy being there may not hold true.

I want to say yes, but ganondorf's very ...atypical for any sort of human being.

He's greener , because he is evil.

Thats it really. At least thats how I saw it, he probably started off brown, and then got evil and became green.

He is still guerdo or whatever its called.

Yeah, all I can think of are random Pokemon Trainers.
Yeah, Iris was the first person to jump to mind for me. Her battle theme is awesome :3

Doc Louis is already not playable but if they wanted there's still mr Sandman, disco-kid and a bunch of others from punch-out alone. There's a few pilots from F-Zero as well like kate alen and michael chain too. Michael Carver could represent Waverace if they wanted :3

Considering the rest of the Gerudo aside from Ganondorf and Twinrova don't have the green skin, he probably started off with this sort of skintone, which eventually gave way to his current complexion. If nothing else, it makes it easier to code him as representative of a middle-eastern fantasy culture if the green is just evil cosmetics.

Edit:nvm

After Ganondorf, Iris is definitely the second-most important dark-skinned Nintendo character. It'd be cool if they redid the Pokemon trainer concept with her dragon types (and without stamina).

Can I say , how amazing it is that the champion of pokemon new york, is a young black girl who keeps dragons in her hair and wears fancy dresses.

That is some of the best shit ever.

" Who is the champion of that region?"
" this 12 year black girl that made everyone eat shit with her dragons, and she styles on em with fantastical dresses"

Hm ... Yoshi.

Yoshi's eat fruit to change color, they never face racial discrimination, they just change to fit the environment.

Unlike Flat Zone, I think this stage has a chance of always showing the Gameboy. At least in this pic, there's little enough of the Gameboy around the edges, and the stage looks small enough, that the camera could probably stay fixed where it is. Maybe when you pause, the camera zooms out and shows you the entire Gameboy.

So how is the competitive scene going to handle customizable movesets?

We've gone over it before, but it will come down to how quickly are you able to change the customized movesets. If it's something you can do quickly from the CSS or after picking your character in the CSS before picking a stage it should be good. If it requires you to go into a separate menu then it'll probably be ignored due to taking too much time to set up every match.

So how is the competitive scene going to handle customizable movesets?
Well seeing as no one owns the game it's a bit hard to judge the impact of them. Also it could come down to the particular scene. Some may hate it whereas others love it. No one has to follow arbitrary rules.

Mr. Sandman! A heavier clone of Little Mac.

DLC character. #Believe
Oh yeah, that would probably be the most likely choice. Though still incredibly unlikely.
