PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

My wife came home with a with a $20 PSN card. That makes about $24 with what I already have sitting in my account.

I'm just rolling a few ideas around in my head.

How well do Neo Geo Station PSP releases play on the Vita? I miss Shock Troopers from my PS3 library (no cross buy, thanks SNK) and I was considering buying it again.

Oh, and if I get a Vit*cough*Playstation TV later this year can I share the game between it and my Vita and play ad-hoc?

All my NG Station games works fine on vita. Some of the later NG games (like KOF96) have a short loading between stages that the PS3 version don't have. And the opening animation is way better than the PS3 version.

Frozen too expensive?

Reminds me of that Tadeo Jones game from last year. Maybe it's a reskin?

.....That sure is something :l. I'm sure it will be a fun 2D Platformer, so it would be nice for younger audiences :). That being said....what is the point of this? Doesn't Disney Infinity 2.0 and Minecraft cover this base already? .....I guess this was an extra deal Disney made with Sony, so either they had to make this or figure it is a decent idea to make this in an attempt to appeal to younger gamers :D.

Also, how can this be a Tadeo Jones re-skin? That wasn't developed or published by Sony...

Decided to act on that Square Enix sale and picked up FF 7 and 9 :D. Never played any game in the series, so I hope the hype behind these games is real :).

These games are praised a ton, so I guess I will finally see why that is the case after playing these games :).

Grabbed the Neo Geo Station Shock Troopers for PSP with part of the $24. The Vita d-pad is godlike for this game. I'm going to try to coax a Vita owning friend into picking it up for some co-op. It's really a shame it doesn't support online play like it's PS3 twin.

This is also my first time playing a Neo Geo Station PSP release. For some reason the control feels sharper and the emulation more true. And I used to play Shock Troopers and other Neo Geo Station releases on a CRT with my PS3.

I think I'm going to hang on to the rest of my credit for Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds... if it ever comes out.

Probably not the right thread but I figured enough PS4 owners pass through here that could help me out and it's somewhat relevant.

I downloaded a game to my PS4 (great feature, worked perfectly) but when I got back I noticed the system was still on. Does it not put the PS4 back in standby after it finishes downloading? Are you just supposed to have it stay on til whatever the auto shut off is set to? I'd rather my PS4 go back into standby but I didn't see an option for that anywhere.

Wait what? You make it sound like a perm? Is he not going to be back? D:
I'm not sure. It didn't seem that wait when he posted on Reddit about it.
Whoa, didn't know about that. What happened? Is it permanent?
I forgot which thread it was but I think a mod said something about the Vita and he was banned for talking back.
I gotta find that thread.
QUOTE=Tapejara;124551857]Apparently he's not banned anymore.[/QUOTE]
Nice, hope he post here sometime.

There's a difference between being affected by piracy (not that the other piratable consoles weren't affected as well) and dying because of piracy, which is what a lot of people think happened to PSP

It depends on the place. Some place are really really lax on enforcement.

Currently, Sony seems to be going strong for China. And if piracy comes, then I'd expect Sony to lose very big from it (including their vision for it AKA future plans).

(I think recent Chinese ver. releases lately seems to be strongly linked to Sony/PS.)

The thought that the Vita "will be able to do lots of things if hacked; thus people will buy it" is kinda on the iffy side. Sure, back then when we didn't have smartphones, a hacked PSP was "useful". But now we have smartphones and they're quite widespread.

Steam remote play? Isn't there that fugly steam portable thing, and a new steam tab and shit coming as well? Correct me if I am wrong, but those are Android, too, right? Either ways, Sony won't be able to advertise a steam feature to sell Vita, while those can.

He got into a shitflinging match in a Criminal Girls thread with Aeana because GAF can't have a reasonable conversation about the game, so discussion was banned. Bluemaxima called her a biased Nintendo fan for saying CG was suited to the Vita audience and flipped out a little.

Wish I could have seen that :lol Heard some of the posts in that thread were deleted so even if I went back to read that thread I wouldn't be getting the full picture

I'll admit, I would play a Muppets JRPG.

Swedish Chef would be my party leader.

SCEE and Disney have a pretty long relationship together. It usually resulted in SCE published ports of Disney Interactive games on Sony handhelds (Cars 2 + Phineas & Ferb on PSP/Epic Mickey 2 on Vita) but I guess DI doesn't make much outside of Infinity now. Since Infinity 2.0 is getting a Vita port in 2015, I guess this fills in the gap.

Oh, and you're right about Tadeo Jones, my mistake. I thought Sony published that.

I would platinum the shit outta that game. Is this coming to NA?

It's not been announced for a release outside of Europe, but I wouldn't be surprised if it pops up on PSN one day over here. SCEA has published all of the previous SCEE Disney handheld games.

I have Metal Slug and it's great on Vita. Shock Troopers is fun. I have the PS3 version, too, and would to have it on Vita. I bet if SNKP came out with NG Station today Sony would urge them to do cross-buy. They would have been much more successful if they had.

What killed NG station, beside it was on the expensive side, was lack of trophies. A terrible netcode on the first games didn't help either.

I bought almost all NG games for the PS3, and then double dipped some of my favourites for the Vita. Still waiting for another sale to buy the other ones.

Speaking of P4G save data, I just noticed that the Japanese version saves to the game card itself, whereas the English version uses the memory card for saving data. When you try to delete the bubble for each without a game inserted,

You can use the same save file on a different Vita and account, but you can't earn trophies. I'm curious how many other games are like this.

Edit: Top of page recommendation- Get Akiba's Trip and Phantom Breaker Battleground (crossing fingers) on Tuesday.

I think you cannot earn trophies for any Vita game with preexisting savedata, although I'm not sure.

Would you recommend it to someone who loves RPGs but doesn't know crap about the series?

SUPER Late Reply. Sorry about that, Had class / work combo yesterday from 7:30AM - 9:00PM so I didn't browse GAF yesterday.

Definitely, it will narrate what happened on some parts of the story later on. It feels like a mini-MMORPG game AND it is not a turn based game if you're iffy about it. You should have a tolerance on Japanese anime style hijinks though. They are not that bad but they will happen. I am more tolerant of that instead of the gore, violence full Western games so it fit well on me.

I haven't bought anything from the PSN Store for months now and just focused on trimming my backlog, and yet I'm actually more happy now. I think I'm getting older.

5pb. will be having a Steins;Gate 5th Anniversary Summer Sale from August 13 to August 27 for their download titles on various platforms. Many of their PS3 and Vita titles like Steins;Gate series, Memories Off series, Disorder 6, Phantom Breaker: Extra, Eiyuu Senki are only 1,000~2,000yen.

Hopefully I'm not out of line here but man, some of those mobile sales are insane. It's a shame that I already purchased and completed Jast's release of Steins;Gate because I would have much preferred playing it on my iPad in bed.

Ok, so I just finished making a spreadsheet listing all my Vita games between digital purchase, PS+ and retail (damn you PS+ for making me do this!), and I have 18 games that I don't have downloaded because my 64 GB memory card is full.

First off, is there any way to download these to PS3 and to separate them out into their own folder or something. As it is now, when I download a vita game to PS3 it comes up as one of those "you downloaded this but it isn't installed yet" bubbles in my games list. I would like to have my games downloaded to PS3 to easily move over to my Vita if I want to play them, but I don't want 18 bubbles to scroll through when trying to find PS3 games (which I organize into folders by genre). Couldn't find an obvious way to sort them, pressing Triangle over the bubble doesn't do anything, but I might be missing something.

Second, is there a way to back up full games to PC, so as to reinstall them to my vita later without needing to download them or use a PS3? Recently reinstalled windows, and I don't want to redownload the content manager windows program unless I have to, but this would do it.

Lastly, 18 games is a lot, so I'll probably get a second 64 GB card soon. To me, the entire benefit of a digital library is being seconds away from any game in my collection, and that is probably worth another ~$100 to me, but there is the issue of carrying around an extra memory card. Does anyone have a good case suggestion that has a secure slot for extra memory cards? I've seen the hard case has this, but it is too bulky as where I keep my vita in my bag is not a huge space, so I would really need something fairly small.

Thanks for any help! And in case anyone is wondering, the number is 58 Vita games between PS+, digital and retail in my collection. Soon to be more!

I tested it with the Madoka game, which saved purely to the memory card. No prompts to delete existing data when I played it on my JP account Vita, and I could earn trophies. Just seems to be the ones that save any kind of data on the game card itself.

Edit: Crap, top of page recommendation again. Buy Neptunia Re;Birth and Sword Art Online in the coming weeks.
