Oh holy shit we had these in our classroom too, like, just for playing games (with modern computers on the other side of the room). This was like in 1998. Someone must have donated them to the school. We had two of them and used to race towards them at break time to play zalaga. I think there was a floppy with a snake game too, and a whole bunch of other crap that would require you to have the manual at hand to know what to type.

As a kid Dan had perfect vision but he thought that glasses were cool and he liked the idea of wearing something that enhanced your vision. So he purposely bombed the eye test at his school so he could have glasses. Wearing glasses when he didn't need them actually fucked up his eyes. He has since had LASIK surgery which helped, but his eyes are continuing to degrade over time so he still has to wear contacts and glasses.

I drew what you'd now call Sonic fanart as a kid (though I kept it to myself because I had some damned sense about my actions). I didn't make up characters but Sonic is easy and fun to draw when you can't draw for shit. And the first few Sonic games still are really good.

I loved Sonic CD too but I think it doesn't hold up nearly as well as 2 or 3.
