Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

This is one of the.most.active.boards I've ever seen! Y'all deserve a standing ovation *claps* :)

Riding off Mista Koo's coat tails, I'd love a Medusa cloned off of Palutena myself. Agreed with the rest of stuff you mentioned there though.

I always get excited when I remember that Smash 3DS releases on my 21st birthday.

Then I remember I'm not Japanese.

I'll be 25 a week before the 3DS version releases in the US. It feels so weird to know I'll be that old. I still vividly remember geeking out watching commercials for the first Smash game.

Personally, Lucario is one of the only Pokemon - and probably the only Smash Bros. character - that I actively dislike. Mediocre design, nonsense thematically, obviously focus-tested to death... his entire being screams "trying too hard." His popularity absolutely baffles me.

Like, I personally wouldn't have picked Greninja, but he's an fair enough choice for a new Pokemon. I would take literally any other Pokemon - hell, almost any other video game character - over Lucario.

So I guess there's no limited 3DS XL for Smash Bros.? Weird.
I would expect Nintendo to announce it later this month at earliest considering how impromptu their limited editions are

An monk Anubis with psychic powers isn't appealing to you?

I think of the Fourth Gen Pokemon, he was one of the ones that fit the best with older Pokemon.

Zoroak is trying too hard. They thought they could ride Lucario's popularity and just make a new Lucario and failed horribly.

Same here. I don't mind to see Medusa being luigied clone of Palutena. I meant we haven't not seen Medusa, Hades or Dark Pit in the game yet.

I don't like Lucario, but I respect it. If that makes sense.

But damn its Smash moveset is so good and fun. Not only that, but even in the Pokemon metagame it's a fun one to put in the team.

So you don't want it?

You have have it Heath. I already have a cool Taka avatar. :)

I want Greninja to get a Mega Stone.

Give it a Life Orb then. :P

But in all seriousness, a Mega Greninja with buffs to its defense and a small Sp.A buff would be the most terrifying Pokemon around. Especially if it keeps Protean.

GameFreak should just go full hog at that point and give it Aura Sphere and Nasty Plot.

Serious question, when have their LE 3DS models been announced in relation to when the games are released?
Pokemon X/Y 3DS XL announced September 4 and released September 27
Yoshi 3DS XL, announced March 3, released March 14
ALBW XL, announced early October, released late November
Magical Disney World XL and 2DS, annnounced April 1 , released April 11
Kirby 2DS(Europe Exclusive) (largely same as Magical World 2DS) April 2, released mid May
Tomodachi 2DS, announced May 19, released June 6
Mario & Luigi XL, announced Dec 2, released same day
Animal Crossing XL, announced April 17, released June 14
Pikachu XL, announced March 14, released March 24
Fire Emblem 3DS announced Jan 14, released Feb 4
Fire Emblem XL (Europe) Feb 14, released April 19

Okay, I will bet the fake internet money that Nintendo wouldn't officially revealed those secret characters.

here is my fake money.

Honestly, Luigi still being unlockable is maybe one of the few things I'd actually bet on.

But that still hinges on there being unlockable characters in the first place.

lucario looks like he had someone shove giant metal spikes through his torso and hands upon being told that he needs to be steel type

but other than that he's kung-fu anubis so i mean what's not to like

basically what i'm trying to say is that fighting types are the best because you can put "kung-fu" in front of anything and it instantly becomes the best

With a series like Pokémon where there the National Pokédex totally somewhere near one hundred million different Pokémon, I understand people are going to have amassed a sizable list of Pokémon they like and Pokémon they don't. This includes people who won't like Lucario.

But I love Lucario. I stopped playing Pokémon after Gen II and got back into it Gen IV. Lucario wasn't my favorite to use in game, but once I started getting into the meta game Lucario became one of my favorite Pokémon.

Him satisfying the "slot" for Mewtwo in Brawl though will always make me sad. Mewtwo is my favorite Pokémon because Mewtwo is an actual character in the Pokémon mythos.

He might just be a Frankenstein clone (ha), but he's really my favorite interpretation of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein from her original novel.

Okay thanks, didn't realize they started making LE 2DS systems outside of the pink one for Disney

Just bought a Japanese 3DS, I'm so weak-willed.

Not going to sell my limited edition one though, might end up being worth loads in the future, I'll just have to go into my overdraft.

Honestly, that's part of the problem! He's an Anubis - that's, like, Dark/Ghost, right? But he's got psychic powers, which would imply Psychic or something along those lines. But he's Fighting/Steel! I can see Fighting being justified in a general way (even if it's not really in-tune with other Fighting types), but Steel? How is he a Steel Type? Doesn't make sense! It's checking too many boxes; like I said, trying too hard.

I agree that Zoroark is just as bad, if not worse, though. He's kind of grown on me, though, since he's such a massive failure of a Pokemon that it's almost endearing.

I just realized that I was being vague, but I revised my statement about secret characters.

You mean this?

Okay, I will bet the fake internet money that Nintendo wouldn't officially revealed full roster of secret characters before Smash 3DS release in Japan.

Because its still poorly worded "wouldn't officially revealed full roster of secret characters" just doesn't flow at all. It should be something like "won't officially reveal the full roster" or "won't officially reveal all the secret characters".

Depends. Anubis might be Ground/Ghost since his skin is the color of the Nile's fertile soil and he's god of embalming (which would include entombment underground).

And yeah, Lucario's kinda a clusterfuck of design.

Oh there's still lots of time then. I'm waiting since I want to upgrade to XL since forever, hoping it's good (and that it comes to EU, obviously).

I think of Solid Snake as Frankenstein's monster. Granted, Rambo did it first where human war machines are concerned, but Solid Snake (and his siblings) were cloned from Naked Snake/Big Boss for a reason. The difference between Solid Snake and other "Frankenstein's monsters" is that he finds himself a family in the form of his friends, most notably his best bud, the lovably geeky Otacon:

Zoura is more appealing honestly lol.

I can see them giving you a special mention at the next Nintendo Financial Forecast, Pad. You're almost single-handedly increasing their fortunes with all the Ninty toys you're buying, and the Amiibos aren't even out yet! XD

I know you're joking, but the cost of entry (aka buying a 3DS and/or Wii U) is already so high that it doesn't really work like that.

Zoroark actually has a coherent design aesthetic. It's based on Kabuki theater and shapeshifting fox tricksters, and its hair is shaped like a paint brush to reference its love of illusions.

I knew about the kitsune concept and I noticed his hair looked like a paintbrush, but I never made the connection his hair evoked one because of his ability to create illusions. Nice!

A cool Zoroark ability would be a neutral B that temporarily made you a clone of your opponent, until your opponent gets a hit in and breaks your illusion.

I'd love a Shang Tsung style character, but it's probably not going to happen until Sakurai gets the tech right so there isn't a severe load time like with other transforming characters.

would lol if Europe got Smash a week later just like 3D World last year

Makes me sad how nintendo doesn't prioritize global launch for this game. There are really 2 franchises that nintendo makes that need worldwide launches, one is smash, the other is pokemon. Mainly because they can be played competitively and the people who get it sooner will be at an advantage :/

Mario Kart, Smash, Pokemon, & Animal Crossing are the ones off the top of my head that should always aim for worldwide releases. If Splatoon also becomes one of those "once a generation" multiplayer juggernaut franchises, it too should be held to the same standard.

With how much work they put into localization for Animal Crossing, I can forgive them for that at least. Agreed on all other counts though.

Agreed!
