Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

Awesome! I love 'Bad Apple' so seeing a smash adaptation of it would be awesome XD

EDIT: Oh! Someone really did try and make a full version! Those gifs are from the vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0olVA8PHjM

Yeah. Technically it's not full version since the creator decided to drop the project, and leave it as what it is. It was just too much for him from what he's saying.

...yeah, I have bad news for you...I give up.
This is too much work. XD
But hey, all that matters is that I made Pit look awesome. :iconpitxdplz:

This is my progress so far. I didn't add Link up there because he is a bit of a loner (I haven't made any characters before or after him. XD)

If you wanna see a full version, you can either wait for someone else to make a full version or make a full version yourself. XD

No, this is not 3D. Yes, this is hand-drawn 2D. Yes, this was all done with a mouse. Yes, I did end up drawing all 1,632 frames you see here. (Do you see why I give up? XD)

And yes, there are plenty of mistakes in this (Like how Ike's head turns awkwardly and how Lucario's left hand sorta "glitches" and how Peach's hair has a delayed effect when she turns around. XD)

Programs used: Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Sony Movie Studio 12
Song used: Bad Apple!!(Cover by Draw the Emotional)

I need a link to that thread.
It was padwarrior who found it, but luckily my google-fu is strong so I located it for you: http://smashboards.com/threads/do-you-think-greninja-deserved-to-be-playable.352128/

Shame. It blows my mind that's all hand-drawn 2D though. That's just straight up amazing o.O

Ridley can find someone else to copy. >_>
I just think the hover would make sense for Ridley.

I don't think he should be throwing Zebesian turnips and hitting people with Space Pirate frying pans and using his followers as shields, though that mental image is hilarious enough that I actually kind of want it.

On the other hand, Lucario's popularity baffles me. The first time I saw it, I felt it's design was so uninspired and bland that it had to be from a cheap pokemon rip-off game. I was pretty surprised when I discovered it was from the actual series and extremely surprised when I found out it was actually well-liked. Everybody's different I guess :s
Well Lucario is whored out. It's one of the earlier Gen IV Pokemon the Pokemon Company was pushing for in popularity and got a massive push. It even got its own movie, absurd since it's a non-legendary. Even though he's still prominent especially with Mega Evolutions and the Pokemon competitive scene, I'm not sure how popular Lucario is outside of that.... I mean, who's gonna buy his plushie and merchandising really? He ain't cute!

I'm not sure what the general consensus of Lucario in Smash is. It feels like people don't have strong feelings one way or another or were totally happy and okay if it got kicked out for Mewtwo or a Gen VI Pokemon before its reveal.

I hope he uses random space pirate lackeys as a shield
Maybe he tosses Space Pirates at his foe, since they aren't very good at growing turnips.

He's a unique character. I don't like seeing characters cut unless they seriously seem redundant (see: Dr. Mario).

Have him throw screw attacks.
Well a lot of people suggest that he should be Mac's opposite

Jigglypuff clone

The irony of this is that ridley would get a final smash that literally makes him too big...

pls, Lucario is awesome

to be fair Zoroark received similar marketing and had its own movie as well. It sadly didn't catch on though.

I'm in the boat that wants Lucario and Mewtwo though :)

Oh, it definitely gets pushed alright. In X/Y the way they cram it down your throat makes it come across less cool and more like a creepy stalker. The bits where it just stands there silently staring at you randomly... I've not had a game make me feel that uncomfortable since the Aliens vs Predator marine campaign :P

As for actual popularity? I dunno. I doubt they'd keep pushing it for as long as they have if it wasn't finding some purchase and while Sakurai has mentioned his dealings with the pokemon company are the most awkward I doubt even they could force him to use a pokemon he didn't think had some kind of fan following :3

Then again, I was surprised that my beloved Mawile got a mega-evolution. The merch for the little killer is so bad/non-existent that I thought it must be unpopular or something. If there was some decent Mawile merch that was easy to get I'd probably actually buy it XD (that said, a friend recently sent me a pic of a pretty cool looking mega-mawile toy they spotted in an anime shop they were in, so maybe the mega will be the goodies finally comes from? :P )

Okay, somebody needs to do this with Brawl box.

And mod in Slowbeef and Diabeetus Ridley sound effects.

I'll love Ridley no matter how he's in, even if he's that disgusting Other M abomination. But it'd be really special if they hired Slowbeef to do the voice.
"*SQUAWK* IT'S A LIVIN', SAMUS!"

As for Greninja, Hawlucha's the one I hands-down wanted, but fan reaction makes me think it was the best choice for fans... Despite not being a Luchador who is also a bird of prey. At least Hawlucha has a good chance to be Pokkén's grappler while Greninja doesn't even really have a chance in that game!

And slightly off-topic, agreed on the whole Goodra/Aromatisse not being Poison-type; I honestly forget the former's a pure Dragon, and I use one on my team! Noivern's in a similar boat because I legitimately thought we were finally getting the long-since unused Sound Type when I saw it... It definitely has enough Mons/Moves to justify it now.

Well I caved in and bought a 3ds xl with mario 3d land and zelda. Looks like Ill be getting both versions of smash now. Cant wait to try Fire Emblem and see what all the fuss about these boots and waifus is for.

Fire Emblem awakening doesn't have any boots... nobody even has any feet to wear them on in the first place :P

Yeah Lucario was pushed. Though the most pushed Pokemon as of now are probably Pikachu and Charizard.

Lucario was "pushed" because it was popular back when its movie was first released, and has grown more popular in the decade since. It makes sense that TPCi has supported a pokemon that the fanbase has taken a liking to.

No idea where all this bitterness about Lucario came from, or the idea that Lucario booted Mewtwo.

If you're anything like me, playing Awakening will just make you wish Chrom was playable. Although I guess being in a final smash is really fitting too.

Saying that Pikachu and Charizard are pushed are a no duh comment. Of course they're pushed, Pikachu is the mascot of the franchise and Charizard is one of the most popular pokemon ever.

Yeah I wasn't saying it in a bad way. I remember when Lucario was confirmed for Smash again and people were shitting on it because that meant no Mewtwo to them. Charizard seems to fill the poster boy thing now ever since its Megas were revealed.

Is it worth selling one of those limited edition club nintendo 3DS's for £350+, to get a japanese 3DS for smash? Or should I just hold onto it considering it's so rare?

I'd have to buy a plain old regular 3DS to play all my old games as well, so I might not have much money left over.

I don't know whether this sounds like a sane plan or whether I'm just getting desperate.

If we're questioning any Pokemon's appearance in Smash, it should be Jigglypuff. Her only real reason for sticking around so many games is because she was in the original Smash.

Not that I'd ever want her out of Smash. There's room for slightly less popular Pokemon in Smash.

So guys let's talk clones.

The reason for clones existence is to represent more characters that probably wouldn't have a chance otherwise, as is the case with Lucina/Roy and Falco (as well as the semi-clones).
Now Dr. Mario is an alternate costume and Dark Pit an alternate color, I really don't think they should be there. Dr Mario would only be there to please Melee fans. And while I don't think Dark Pit is a good idea, it would make more sense to make him a Luigi like character (or even Wolf/Lucas) instead since he looks near identical in model and wouldn't provide any visual variety.

I think Dixie as a Diddy clone would make more sense.
Heck Ridley as a Charizard clone might as well be!

It was canon in any game you had a second Kirby like Dream Course.
So it actually predates Smash! I had no idea since Smash introduced me to Kirby.

I love how they just switched red Kirby and pink Kirby in the American artwork.

That's why I posted the Japanese box art :p

Oh, no bitterness from me at least :3
I may not think highly of Lucario's aesthetic design but I don't 'hate' it or anything and I don't really care about Mewtwo either so even if I had believed the idea that they had been jostling for the same slot on the smash roster (they weren't) it wouldn't have cast Lucario any less favourably for me.

I was just surprised when Lucario turned out to:
a) be a pokemon
b) be popular
Greninja wasn't a real surprise on either of those.
I know it's odd because the pokemon designs are so divergent in the first place but Lucario just didn't look like a pokemon to me on first exposure. It's no big deal though and people are allowed to like whatever they like; it's not going to inspire any negative feelings from me towards either them or the subject of their admiration :3
