Games Stolen From You

I never got my copy of The Last of Us back that I lent to my buddy who left to go on his mission (he is a mormon and won't be back for another year and a half).

Some family came over so my dad could do their taxes forever ago. TL;DR: my little brother made the little kid cry, some of my GBA games near the room vanished (LOTR: Two Towers, Tekken Advance and I forget the other 2 or 3) and the only things my parents could say was, "Oh well." I was like 11 or 12 at the time iirc

I've had loads of games stolen over the years.

I had a SNES with Mario World, All Stars, SFII Turbo and Secret of Mana stolen by a kid I swapped with. I gave him his Genesis back but he refused to give me back my SNES.

Other games that have been stolen over the years are RE4, Metal Arms and Viewtiful Joe

Never had games stolen but....
This kid down the street from me when I was about 13 was a huge douche. He bullied the little kids on the block when I wasn't around to stop him, he was a spoiled brat and he had a horrible temper. Long story short I took his Halo 2 and never gave it back. Still have it to this day though I only own a ps4.

A friend of my got from a friend of his (that I also knew) Metroid Prime Trilogy. I asked him if I could play for a day since we were 10 houses away and said that took it and play it since he wasnt going to play it.

I kept the game like 5 years until some weeks ago the owner asked me to return it. I gave it to him and was glad that It was like new. ( never played more than 3 hours)

I used to be really cool with letting people borrow things. I would sometimes get nice stuff, and I wanted people to talk to about how cool game XYZ was so hey why not?
Of course it seems like most people don't give a shit about returning things or making sure they don't dirty up your stuff.

In elementary and middle school I had people "lose" things I let them borrow all the time. An entire two plastic sheets of holographic/rare Pokemon cards mysteriously vanished from my backpack. Once this POS dude who was a bully came and rang my doorbell and asked for Spyro 2. I was really scared of him so I handed it over, and as he walked away I just thought "I'm never seeing you again, goodbye old friend, we had some fun together." A really nice shiny red cd player that was apparently taken up by a teacher but the teacher had no idea what I was on about when I asked. I eventually started saying no to requests to borrow things, and of course when you do that everyone thinks you're an asshole. v(0_0)v

Once in high school I let a "friend" borrow Stella Deus. I didn't really like this game at all, but I had paid basically full MSRP for it, so I wanted it back. I pestered him for a while and eventually he said " Let me borrow Tales of Legendia and I'll bring it back."
WOW, the nerve. I basically turned around and walked off, never spoke to him again.

I'm also pretty sure one (or both) of my nephews decided to walk away with my copy of Kingdom Hearts and a memory card. They were always playing it any time they were over, and once while alphabetically sorting my games I noticed it was gone. I don't mind the game so much (more incentive to get the HD remixes) but the memory card really hurt. Had save files for tons of RPGs on there, .hack//GU 1 and 2 clear data, etc. Since they go over to their dad's house I don't expect to ever see it, due to family drama. Basically they're not allowed in my room unsupervised now.

There is only one person who has ever returned a game I let him borrow ASAP, when I asked for it. He has my confidence for life, this happened in middle school and I didn't meet him again until college, and I still felt safe letting him borrow stuff.

During the move, I had to leave a chunk of our personal belongings. Simply not enough room in the van for everything. So I arranged to have a friend keep it in his place until I could make the return trip to pick it all up. Among the things left were my entire NES, Genesis, Sega CD, and Jaguar collections.

Of course it didn't take long for this friend to reveal his true stripes and claim that since I wasn't there anymore, he was taking ownership of everything. I'm in the process of trying to replace the collections, but it isn't cheap and it's been piecemeal at best. Still fewer have any materials like boxes or maps/manuals. I had complete boxed copies of stuff like all six Mega Man games, all four Dragon Warrior games, all three TMNTs, all three Ninja Gaidens, all three Castlevanias, Contra and Super C, the original Final Fantasy, both Lunar games on Sega CD, both Mutant Leagues, Warriors of the Eternal Sun, Gunstar Heroes, Castlevania Bloodlines, Contra Hard Corps, and many others. Some 100+ games total. Just thinking about it fills me with rage.

Whhhhaaaaat. A whole collection, I would have seen if the cops would go talk to him (even if they can't really "do anything") just to make his life a little harder.
Some people are just scum. :/

Took Ninja Gaiden for the NES with me to school in 6th grade to trade it for Dragon Warrior. Before me and buddy could make the swap someone stole it outta my binder. I'm still a little raw about it.

Not me, but a close friend's brother would frequently steal his shit and pawn it off at EB Games and Gamestop. Most recently (recent being relative, this occurred 3 years ago) he had the gull to take my friend's only PS3 controller, 3 JRPGs and some collectors edition figurine bundles. Get this, he pawned this to buy flowers and shit for his girlfriend (who was also living with them at the time) because she was threatening to break up with him. The family had a big falling out with him a year or two ago and he isn't living with them anymore. But they really appeased him for far too long these are adults in their mid twenties I'm talking about here.

Some people are scum. You don't get much lower than extorting your own family.

My folks' place was robbed when I was away at school. They took my entire GB, GBC, GBA, PS2 and PSP collection along with a bunch of sealed GBAs (suicune and celebi new!), X360, GCN, PS2, Xbox, and N64 games (along with my surround sound system). Probably around ~$1500 of stuff which I've spend like twice as much over the last couple years to replace it all :(

Pokemon Sapphire along with my Gameboy Sp which I suspect were stolen by my cleaner at the time & Pokemon Crystal which was apparently stolen form my cousins windowsill because he left the window open, but 12 years later I still think it was him :l

a long time ago a so called friend of mine (we played basketball together many times )
I was 15

he stole my gamecube, og xbox, all the controllers and games (had over 30+ games , resident evil 4, hitman, smash etc)

and stole a suitcase full of information (he probably thought it was money or something) but it was my parent's marriage certificate (+20 years), and other information.

I went to school the next day and people in the back of the bus were laughing about the robbery. They told me who robbed me and I was shocked.

I confronted the piece of garbage the next day and he had new clothes, new pair of sunglasses, shoes etc. Of course he denied it and later my father talked to him (all my dad wanted was the marriage certificate). That scum still denied everything.

we got money from insurance for all the physical stuff stolen

the next day I confronted him again (ready for a fight if something happened) I asked him again for the certificate , next thing I know im staring at the end of a glock.

he started waving the gun , threatening me . I backed off and never saw him again
a few days later I heard that he robbed a pizza hut or a gas station/something that same day he pointed the gun a me. He shot the poor cashier and later he was caught in another county trying to rob somewhere else, probably in jail for life or at least 25+.

Wow.

I've only had two games taken from me.

Once was at a family get-together where some kids took my copy of Donkey Kong Country 2.

The other time was in junior high, when I let a friend borrow my copy of Harvest Moon GB.

I've also had my fair share of other bad experiences letting people borrow my games - deleted saves, cracked discs, etc. Needless to say, I'm now very protective of my game collection.

You know what guys, the worst part about all of it is the lost saves. I managed to backup many of my GBA games (I was in the process of consolidating all my saves onto a M3 Lite Perfect so I can carry just one cart around), but still many didn't get backed up and the loss of all those hours and saves hurts the most, even now many years out...

I never had anything stolen since I didn't own a lot of games, but I did lend my friend Legend of Dragoon way back (think in middle school). He ended up losing the first disc and bought me a new copy which was cool. Long story short, his family is selling their childhood house and he said he found the 1st disc underneath a china cabinet after moving stuff. Super crazy

One of my then friends at high school borrowed Majora's Mask off of me, a month goes by and I ask for it back, she says she'll get it, she then blanked me every time I reminded her, and reporting it to the head teacher did naff all. It eventaully ended up in her and her other circle of bitchy friends telling me to go fuck myself, a swift hair pulling, a hard punch to the nose, and a stern reminder that she'd better give it back sped up the process of getting it back, that's for sure. The very next day I got it back.

I got my GBA + Ruby + Sapphire stolen from me when I was younger. I think it was by this one older douche who I thought was my friend. I was around 8 or 9 and this guy was 13. I asked all of my friends that came over and no one confessed lol. I got a GBA SP that same year on my birthday so it worked out I guess

About 15-odd years ago, when I was 20, I had three friends over to play some N64 games after a few beers. Some of them brought their own games, as I didn't have a copy of goldeneye. We had a big pile of carts, and the next day, when I was tidying up the pizza boxes etc, I found a copy of an off-road racing game. The next time I saw my mates (we didn't all have mobile phones then), I asked each of them who it belonged to, and each of them denied it. Very strange. All I can think is that someone else left it at one of their places during a multiplayer session and then it migrated to me! They weren't the types to have nicked it from someone else, but I did ask one guy's little brother and he also said it wasn't his.

If someone out there in Hertfordshire, England is missing a copy of Off-Road 64 you can have it ba... No, wait, it got lost in a house move years ago. Sorry fella. :D

i let my friend at the time borrow san andreas when it was just recently out. then his house got robbed and they stole it along with other things. he got insurance money to buy back the stuff that was stolen, but never paid me back for san andreas.

Pokemon yellow. I let a friend borrow it and he never gave it back. I think I asked him for it back every day for like 3 years. That was 13 years ago and I'm still pretty pissed about it.

Heavy rain was mysteriously stolen from me and ex while her sisters and my cousins were over and it has been one of the greatest mysteries of my life as to where the game went.

FF IV (SNES)
Final Fight Guy (orange cart...that one really stings)
Zombies ate my Neighbors

few others...i keep a list now

I was a dumb 7th grader, took my PSP with me to school, got it and MGS Portable Ops stolen. And that's why I never took my portables out in public anymore.

I let my cousin borrow Suikoden II, FF9,FF7 and he never returned it back to me. He also took my brothers Gameboy SP and what ever pokemon game that was in it, and pretended that it was his even though it had my brothers name etched into it lol.

I also had a friend that I let borrow X-men children of the Atom for PS1 and DBGT Final Bout(first english print) and he never gave them back to me.

straight up!!

There's a modded Dreamcast sitting somewhere that's mine. It has a switch on the back to perform the swap trick. I'm assuming it's either been dumped or left to sit. I remember bringing it over to a friend's house, but that's been so long ago. Might as well forget it ever happened. The store was called "Game Doctors'', they got busted by the feds for doing it too (Sony apparently told the FBI because I heard it from a local store owner's son on their now down-forum because he answered my question about them) This happened right when the GBC came out too. They closed shop when that happened, but I still remember where they use to be. You'd walk in their store and they'd have burned copies of Sega GT laying out to buy. I was young, so I paid the man $50 and he did it. I just ordered my imports from GameCave. I didn't know any better.

I was a dumb kid in HS and I lent a few guys my PS2 for a while. They eventually gave it back, but man I was dumb. I also lent someone in my study hall my Dreamcast and a few games like ShenMue and a couple other I've forgotten about. I got all that stuff back, but at the same time I'm never doing it again. Sure people who don't have much want nice things from time to time, but I always regret doing it. I don't think giving material objects helps people if it's not clothes or food. I think money is the only thing that should go to charity.

Back in HS all the guys got new games, but when they turned to drugs they opted out of giving two shits about their games. They needed money and they got it anyway they could. God I'm glad those days are behind me. I know it still goes on, but I'm happy I'm not forced to be around them anymore.

My brother was bad into drugs when we were in school. My tub of over 50 ps1 games and Dreamcast were stolen. I had several ps2s stolen.

While throwing a party, someone stole a few of my collector editions, gears of ear, mass effect 2, and demon souls.

This is why you don't have strangers at your place unattended.

my original SNES stuff from my childhood was stolen by friends of a sibling while I was living away from home.

recently my 3DS XL and Order of Ecclesia were stolen from my car. I left it inside the armrest. The fact that the game was paused while I was totally mid-game, grinding XP, when it was stolen made it feel extra personal. Innocence lost.

I probably won't be replacing it unless they put a Metroid game on it or put out a sleek new model.

When I was a kid I stupidly carried a stack of SNES games with me and I put my favorite game at the time (Tom and Jerry). 2 black teens came up to me asked me how I was doing, before I could respond one pushed me down and my stack of games flew to the concrete. They were only able to take the Tom and Jerry game before they ran off. Years later I played it again and couldn't believe I was so upset about losing a piece of shit game like that.

My older foster brother, who had moved out of the house a few years prior to this, visited with a friend. I was around 15 when this happened. This brother was always somewhat of a troublemaker, but he had evidently went very downhill after moving out.

The next day, after returning to the house, my Xbox 360 and twelve games for it were missing from my room. I naturally assumed it was him and this friend that took them while we were out. My parents said I shouldn't jump to conclusions and tried to call him, but he never answered his phone again.

He ended up in jail a few months later for unrelated reasons and my parents finally got the truth from him. He said he took them, but that it was his friend's idea, and that they pawned it all off at a pawn shop. I never saw any of it again.

My parents still remained on good terms with him and even continued to invite him over to the house, much to my annoyance. My parents mean well, but they are far too kind and trusting.

On the bright side, I received a new 360 and a few games on my next birthday.

Some now ex-friend borrowed C&C TIberium Wars and never returned it, but then again I still have his copies of The Force Unleashed, Gears 2 and Halo Wars.

@OP:

Have you ever considered contacting this boy's parents, just asking if he has said games and if so, if you could have them back? Or do you have no way of contacting them?

Was in school once and we were allowed to bring in our Nintendo DS's and play together for the last day of term, and I left my case on the table and turned around to play MKDS with a group only to return and find my copy of Phantom Hourglass to be stolen.

Later in the year, a kid gave me an unboxed copy of the game I was 100% sure that was mine.

Pretty much every Nintendo 64 game I ever owned - forty games, anything with the word "Mario." Also, my entire Metal Gear collection was more or less stolen from me. Included original versions of every title, limited editions and Premium Packages, Japanese versions, etc. My limited edition MGS4 Gunmetal PS3 - gone. Limited edition Big Boss PSP - gone. :-( I hope to rebuild the collection one day, but unfortunately, it won't be anytime soon.

Some one stole Blazblue from me I think. I was never able to find it after going back to Street Fighter. When I was younger I had RE2 for N64 stolen from me.

Oh yeah, had someone brake into my house and stolen my Wii and PS3 only game they took was the games sitting on my entertainment center, Tekken 6 and Street Fighter IV.

Now this is a good story. I too have a game I hope to have the owner ask for someday to return it. We out of contact now.

This is sort of the reverse.

A friend back when I was in high school lent me Shadow of the Colossus, and then I just sort of never gave it back and he never asked me for it....

I'm not sorry, either

Back when I was in middle school my kirby tilt n tumble game just went missing at a hotel when on a school trip. I'm sure some stole it.
