Games Stolen From You

When I moved to California, I left a bunch of stuff at my parents for them to ship out. After they shipped it out, I went through it and noticed a lot of my shit seemed to be missing. My Wii, my 360, and all my games were missing. Also missing was my SF4 fightstick that was broken and I was gonna fix. We found the fightstick in my brother's trunk, apparently Gamestop didn't buy it off him.

What pisses me off the most isn't that he stole and sold my shit for ass weed, it's that he probably got a horrible deal for all the stuff at Gamestop, and the fucker didn't even sell his own 360 first.

I let a guy borrow King Kong and Megaman collection for gc and after a while I went back and asked for them. "Uhhh, I kind of sold them heh heh". Then he gave me the shit Rocky game for gc. After a while I just threw it in a bush.

When I was a kid I'm pretty sure someone stole my Pokemon silver for game boy color. Also a few years when I was randomly checking my recent card activity at GameStop and I saw there were games traded in I never even owned turns out it was a few games my brother let his friend borrow and he traded in. Then the same guy had the balls to take my brothers extra 360 and traded that in too.

Had it delivered to me on launch day. The delivery person left it on the street (didn't even call me...). Came home and it was nowhere to be found. Had to shell out $60 to get it again :/. And to top things off I didn't even enjoy it that much ;_;

Some asshole kid stole all of my Super Nintendo and Sony Playstation games :( accumulated from my brother and me. Probably around 30 games total....... 15 years later and I'm still pissed.

I had a weaselly friend that stole from me after a day of hanging out. I noticed later that day I was missing like five games, so me and another friend walked right over to his house and confronted him. I got back a few of them back, but I never ended up getting my Pokemon Silver and Golden Sun back.

My brother sold my original xbox and everything I had for it at the time. Roughly 15 games. He moved out a few years after for college, comes back to town for just a week about 4 years later. Stole my copy of Burnout Paradise for the 360.

I don't allow him in my apartment.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years it's to never lend a game to a friend if you ever want it back again. I've literally never had someone return one of my games to me.

Silent Hill 3 in high school. I lent it to a friend and he told me that it was stolen from him. I seriously doubted that but I just cut my ties and ended up buying a new copy.

I also had my Game Boy with my Pokemon Red stolen from some kid in my apartment complex. He wanted to trade so I went inside to get the link cable and left it with him. Came outside, he and the Game Boy were nowhere to be found. I knew where he lived so I went to his apartment and talked to his dad. I ended up getting it back and as soon as their door closed all I could hear is his dad screaming at him at the top of his lungs.

John Elway's Quarterback when I was 7 or 8. My parents told me to let their friends' kids borrow it for a little while. Never saw it again, might as well have been stolen.

We had a party once and invited someone who turned out to be some kleptomaniac.
He stole about 10 games, which include Pikmin, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Revenge of Shinobi, Metroid Prime and some more.
Needless to say he isn't allowed near our house anymore.

All this “my brother took”, “my brother stole” stories reminded my that in May a friend of a friend from college sold me a Vita with 6 games for a extremely cheap price (around 120 USD). When I first used it I noticed it belonged to a kid (because of the photos taken). Probably his brother.

Man, I never though of it but now I kinda feel bad.

Whhhhaaaaat. A whole collection, I would have seen if the cops would go talk to him (even if they can't really "do anything") just to make his life a little harder.
Some people are just scum. :/

The thought occurred to me, but the cops in that town are notoriously lazy and indifferent. The "friend" lives with his father, who is some high uppity-up at the local prison anyway, so I'm sure he can just laugh it off with his cop buddies if I were to make a complaint.

I do have (real) friends that live there, though. One of them recently added me to a private Facebook group for people selling things in the area. I've seen this guy's wife selling stuff there, but nothing of ours. I'm keeping an eye open. One of them makes a slip and I'm calling them out, with everyone there to see.

Even to this day I still don't know what happened with my copy of SSBM and Game Boy Player. We assume someone stole them since many people came to my family house back when I was a kid. Of course, I don't discard my brother sold them behind my back.

When I was in 7th grade, some kids in gym class got into my backpack and stole my copies of Pokémon Diamond, Kirby Super Star Ultra, and my DS Lite.

What makes me annoyed is I could have gotten the games back had I told the gym teacher that someone had stolen stuff out of my backpack and he probably would have searched everyone's backpack and locker. >_>

I had an electrician doing some work for me last year and one of his underlings swiped some of my GBA carts. Pokemon LeafGreen, Final Fantasy Tactics, Yoshi's Island, some good games that I'd spend a lot of time playing to completion.

I'm slowly replacing them via eBay but I'm still seething that they were taken in the first place.

My first girlfriend "borrowed" my gamecube and games before leaving on a "trip" to see some family. Turned out she was skipping town and just wanted to steal it. :(

I was burgled on the night of my 21st Birthday. They took my entire Nintendo DS collection of 20 something games, my GBC + games, my three month old launch Wii + games, my Dreamcast(Why?) and my birthday present a Nintendo DS Lite and a copy of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Of course they never found who did it but I'm sure it was my scumbag neighbours and their friends, bunch of cunts.

Me and my GF went into town the next day with a list of everything that was stolen to give local stores, in case someone tried to trade them in or sell them. As me and my GF went from shop to shop we noticed a guy doing the same. He was looking to buy a Wii nunchuck but didn't seem happy at the price lol. Funny thing is the burglars only took my Wii remote and not the Nunchuck. More than likely a coincidence but I always wondered lol.

My landlord's son (I could rant for years about him) stole 4 of my ps3 games. He got uncharted 3, ratchet and clank future, lollipop chainsaw, and metal gear solid 4. ._.

Was staying at someone's place in Spain, left my GBA SP with Speedball 2 in it on the veranda and went inside for about twenty minutes or so. When I came back, it was gone; some shit had leapt the railing and swiped it. It was the AGS-101 model, too.

I only bought a 001 to replace it. ;_;

I once loaned a colleague of mine Dark Sector back in 2008. He quit and moved away about a month later, and I assumed he'd just forgotten about the game in the move until I saw him sign into Xbox Live and play the damn thing after. I let it slide because it was only Dark Sector.

I had every cart Pokemon game stolen from me by my parents family friends kids. RBYGSCRSELGFR. It really upset me and still does but I can't afford to replace them. :(

If that's who stole them, why were you never able to get them back?

Surprised at the number of straight-up burglaries in this thread. Life experience has taught me to always expect "the inside job" and hearing a lot of family and sibling transgressions backs that up.

Wonder how many of the burglaries are actually inside jobs tipped off by friends or relative too... The ones listed have seemed pretty surgically efficient in grabbing either games of value or entire collections.

"This above all else, to thine own self be true. Neither a borrower or a lendor be."

@OP:

Have you ever considered contacting this boy's parents, just asking if he has said games and if so, if you could have them back? Or do you have no way of contacting them?

Colin was the least of his parent's problems, but our contact with those people is long lost. My stories are nothing like others I've read here! I count myself lucky, and the thread a cheerful success in that regard. :)

I am not sure if this constitutes as stolen, but it is pretty close to it at least.

When I moved from Nevada to California five years ago, we moved into a temporary house that was available for a few months. Because of this, my parents had the movers put all of our stuff in storage for those few months until we were in a more permanent house that we could move it all into.

The temporary housing continued to be extended by the owners that were renting it to us a few months at a time though. It was a very good house, so my parents wanted to keep it as long as was possible.

So, our stuff remained in storage...for a year. At which point the movers called and said in order to get our stuff out of storage, we would have to pay a storage fee of $10,000 or something. So, my parents did nothing...and eventually the place went out of business and they auctioned all of our stuff away.

Among the stuff in storage was...my NES, my SNES, my N64, a total of 8 controllers for them, about 10 of my old NES games, 5 SNES games, 15 N64 games, 25 PS1 games, 15 PS2 games and an entire Xbox 360 Rock Band set with two guitars, drums, and microphone.

Not to mention all 90 fantasy novels I owned, the nice bookshelf they were on, three beds, and all our old family photos and heirlooms. Oh yes...and my Nintendo DS, ten games for it, and the charger was in the storage too for good measure.

I believe I win this thread.

I didn't realise until months later as I had them in a container and never opened it.
They were the only ones who had come over in that time but my parents said it was too late to say anything.

Are... are you Mark MacDonald?

I've been fortunate enough to not have my games stolen. My cousin on the other hand has had her games and system stolen on a fairly regular basis by her mother's friends and her own mother.

It's really messed up. Her mother would steal her systems while she was in school and pawn them for some cigarettes. She's sold her PS2s, Wiis, my old NES that I personally gave to her. Ton of games as well. If her friends stole them she'd also do nothing about it because to her, her friends are more important than her family. She's a terrible mother.

Apartment got robbed my Genesis and all games :( the ones i remember were Streets of Rage, Decap Attack, and Sonic The Hedgehog 2...they were lost forever..

My older brother stole over 20 of my video games to fuel his fatal heroine addiction.

Worst part about it? I knew they were being stolen (or at the very least moved without my knowledge), but my parents didn't believe me and my brother denied all accusations until he came clean right when 2010 began. It was truly a hellish period.

Maybe it has been asked already but here goes. If your collection of games get stolen, how do you determine the price of rare games that cost a lot nowadays? How insurance companies deal with that? Thanks!

This thread makes me sad :(

The only similar thing that happened to me was when I wanted to buy Radiata Stories... I didn't have a credit card and I think that at that time buying stuff on the Internet was not that common (also, in this country RPGs are not popular at all and titles like that are more likely to be ignored by retailers, so getting a game like RS was very difficult). A friend of mine told me he could help me to get the game so I ended up giving the money I saved to him... Several months passed before I finally decided it was reasonable to ask him when I'd receive my game. I don't even remember what he answered exactly but what I do remember was his attitude: I lost the money and he didn't give a fuck about it. The whole thing was pretty dumb of my part now that I think about it.

Back in my freshman year of college, I thought I'd be a nice guy and leave my GameCube out in the common room for other folks to use. Lost a copy of RE4 and my Windwaker preorder bonus (the Ocarina of Time/Master Quest disc) that way.

I generally don't lend my stuff out to anybody who's not a family member these days. Thankfully I finally got to play Master Quest again with the release of OoT3D on the 3DS.

Damn some of these stories are making me really angry. Some people are just fucking scum.

Sounds rough, sorry for your loss.

Golden sun

Friend borrowed it for so long i started pestering him about it

He gave me a bunch of bs reasons and i never saw it again

My freshman year of high school, a 'friend' asked if he could borrow my GBA and FF Tactics Advanced game over the weekend. I had a GBA-SP, so I figured there was little harm in letting him use my old portable with one game since I could still use my newer one. I said okay. He took them, laughed at me, and said I was too kind for my own good.

After the weekend was over, he continued to claim he forgot it and would bring it 'the next day' every day for about a month until I switched schools and never saw him or my GBA + game again.

When I was a kid I had a friend come over. I caught him looking through my stuff in my room. A few days later, I was wanting to play game boy and noticed some of my games were missing. At the time, I didn't put two and two together to realize he stole them. I just thought I had missed placed them. About a year later I'm at his house looking through his games and I was thinking dang, I used to have these games whatever happen to them. As I was thinking this I flip the cart around and see my initials on the back. I was like "Oh, hell no." I pocketed them and took them back.

My ex son in law stole the following from me :

- Lunar the Silver Star
- Lunar Eternal Blue
- Monster World IV
- Lunar The Silver Star Story Complete
- Lunar Eternal Blue Complete
- Skies of Arcadia
- Grandia 2
- Suikoden 2
- Super Castelvania
- Contra 3
- Shining Force
- Shining Force 2

The used game shop he sold them to gave him between 3 and 5$ for each game (he was 13) promising him more money if he could bring him more from where he found them (in short, the shop owner knew they were stolen and encouraged him to steal some more).

When I confronted my ex about it, all she said was "so what, it's just games, get over it"

Well she's not my ex for nothing.

not quite stolen but kinda.

In high school I used to let my friends borrow a lot of my games. One day I had a really bad argument with one of these friends over something like a petty sum of money (in reality I think she had a crush on me, and was bitter that i had just found a girlfriend) and we stopped talking to each other. Forever. So i never saw again the games i lend her. That's Star Wars Rebel Strike, Baten Kaitos, Metal Gear Solid TTS, Tales of Symphonia and Paper Mario TTYD.

Since then I'm slowly repurchasing those games, i already got Rebel Strike, Baten Kaitos and MGS TTS, only ToS and Paper Mario are left.

Theft is ok then. :D

What ugly people.

our house burned down a while back and firefighters were able to stop the fire just outside our entertainment room and saved all our games. when we were cleaning and moving out everything that was still good I noticed over 20 boxes of games from Wii, 360, DS, gamecube including Metroid Prime 1 & 2 laying on the floor all empty. I think I know who it was too but I couldn't prove it
