PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

It's actually not, I just thought they looked kind of similar. Tadeo Jones was done by a studio called U-Play. Virtual Toys is behind the Muppets game.

Has anyone here played Akibas Trip before? Was curious if the game is shallow gameplay/content wise. I know the ridiculous concept and have seen the trailer. It looks like stupid fun. Just curious if it's worth the full price. Was planning on getting it next week digitally. Figured id ask while waiting.

It's stupid fun. Not for everyone though.

Got it, sorry for misunderstanding you.

And just to reiterate, Tadeo Jones is terrible. In case anyone was thinking about importing a kid-oriented game that was only released in Spain.

Do all PS4s come with that crappy mono headset? My friend just bought one new and said there isn't one in the box.

Edit
He found it :/ I knew he would

I'm prioritizing limited editions this month, so Disgaea 4 and Neptunia Rebirth are the ones I won't miss. I already have money for Phantom Breaker on my PSN wallet from last month and I might get SAO if I can get a cheap $50 PSN card. Unfortunately, AT:U&U will have to wait.

Get Disgaea 4.

Got some PSN credit loaded up on my account. Let's go Phantom Breaker!
Maybe Akiba's.

I'm actually not sure about Akiba. :(

Everytime I see the August Lineup for Vita I get the feeling that I should work on my backlog to justify buying new games but Dragon's Crown is just too addicting :(

Conversely, I've been spending this month cancelling Limited Edition orders. Only one I'm getting is Neptunia Re;Birth. I did have to cancel my CE pre-order for Xillia 2. Kind of wish I could get it, but I barely played the first one and can't really justify it.

No LEs for me. Only LE that I have pre ordered this year that I can remember is Persona Q and that's on the 3DS, I'm a sucker for Persona. However this month I will be getting Akiba's digitally, Xillia 2 and Neptunia. I already have SAO and believe me people, I've been playing that for the past 2 months, buy the shit out of that game!
It is so far my favorite game of the year, it's brimming with content (72hrs clocked in and counting, not finished with either of the 2 main arcs, and haven't even touched the patch content either that adds a whole lot more to it, 30hrs I believe) and the gameplay is sublime. Don't just think that it's a cheap cash in because it is an anime licensed game. I would go as far as saying that this is one of my most favorite games of all time. Yes I said it, and I consider myself to be a person of good taste ;P

You guys are supposed to be encouraging me to remove games from my backlog instead of adding to it. FFX/X-2 HD is going to take me so long that it'll be at least a month before I can invest time in another RPG. :(

Worry about backlog, you must not.
Pressure on you, it only puts.
To enjoy games, blood you pay.
Play, as your heart pleases.

I can't decide whether to wait for Phantom Breaker on Tuesday or just get the PSP Dracula X Chronicles now. I'm a big Guardian Heroes fan and PBBG looks like it might scratch that itch on Vita.

What is this Phantom Breakers I keep seeing referenced?
PSN Digital only? Retail release? How much? NA on Tuesday, EU on Wednesday? Can someone point me to a good place to look up some info, please?

gahhhhhhh so many games....

At first I was like "huh, whatever."
But then I saw it was good old Larry Hyrb boring the shit out of Conan... and I had to laugh.

So after finding the time to grind for 8 hours and then spend another 2 failing the fight against Shadow Teddie twice at the last 10 percent of his health because I didnt realize Heat Wave actually did have a telegraph and wasn't random, I've finally rescued Rise and can progress in P4G. This may be the point where I finally break down and start reading a guide on this game.

Please tell me this isn't representative of the rest of this. I'm no longer sure I find the game interesting enough to endure another hundred hours of boring grinding and bosses without weaknesses you have to chip down for 45 minutes.

Also, finally tried Proteus. I was asleep in 15 minutes. I wish I was exaggerating. Glad I didn't pay for it on PC over a year ago.

Actually for me, after that fight the game becomes a breeze for me. As the skills with "Mega" prefixes starts to appear (hitting all enemies at once) or skills with "laon" or "dyne" (a more powerful attack) suffix appears. It doen't help the enemies if I got the persona "
Alice
" as I'll just make them "die for me", unless they are resistant / reflects dark 1hit kills. So even if an enemy appears with no weakness / strength against a "mega" skill but most of his / her teammates are weak to the skill, I usually end up stomping over them without them hitting on my team.

And LOL, almost all of the reviews / opinions about Proteus I hear on the 'Net are similar to yours. I should try that when I need to sleep.

What level and difficulty were you at?

Finally playing that Legend of Dragoon I bought when it was on sale. Damn good so far, and I thought the graphics would kill it for me. Contemplating buying one of those FF games on sale now.

Yet Bamco can give to somebody the .hack// IP in order to create a new game T.T

At least that SAO game ignores the second half (Alfheim arc) of the first season, which is like a blessing, because it was pretty much shit. The first season, weird pacing and some eyebrow raising moments was quite decent.

I've had a problem while playing Sleeping Dogs. I post here too hoping that PSN GAF can help me a little :)

I'm playing through Sleeping Dogs (got it a really long while ago when it went for free on EU PS+) and while I'm really liking the game (for reasons most people has already said) I'm having quite a big problem.

The two latest times I've played the game it has frozen my PlayStation 3. I can't switch it off using the controller neither the button. I have to switch it off unplugging the console (which can be harmful).

It's a SuperSlim model, with good ventilation. No problems with any other game, to be honest. As much as I'm liking, if it freezes again I'm probably going to delete it and look for a cheap retail copy.

But I'd like not to do so. Is it a known problem? Should I reinstall it? Delete it?

TL;DR: At least read the bolded XD

Still don't know what to think about Hohokum. The locoroco style makes me want it but I'm not appealed by gameplay. Is there actually something to do or is just another "wandering around simulator"?

PS: buy Quantum Conundrum

Are we ever going to see this gem released as a PS2 classic? I'm tired of waiting :_:

I feel your pain, bro.

Luckily I still have a PS2...though I think I don't have this game anymore :/ I wanted to replay it

I'm curious. Where does Vita fit in to this? I imagine Vita having a very high ratio especially if you factor in digital sales.

Hard to tell. We would first need to know HW and SW numbers, then we would need to know digital software numbers. We'll probably never going to know

I'm not banned anymore. Odd, thought that ban was going to extend through to when Destiny came out. Must have misjudged. Hope you all enjoyed that 3 hour video, made my throat real sore. PushSquare even did an article on it! http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2014...me_this_three_hour_video_will_prove_you_wrong

Welcome back :D

Is anyone here familiar with the area near Narita International Airport? Any places where I can do some last minute video game shopping?

Just checked some info and footage of SAO and it looked better that I thought it would. Bummer that it is digital-only in Europe and that there isn't any confirmation on whether the West will get that big content patch as well.

I never had played Fez before, and I'm not a real fan of indie games (save things like Guacamelee and Hotline Miami, that are really polished and fun) but I'm really digging it. It reeks of "something special". It's probably going to be the next PS+ game I complete.

Also, cross-play-cross-save is so fucking good. Love being at lunch break at work, playing in my Vita, getting home, switching the PS4 and continuing where I left off.

I was very underleveled on this fight and your experience matches mine. After that the game was a breeze. Mamudoon and mahamaon seem really overpowered - especially with Mudo Boost and Hama Boost.

Gameplay wise the game without the patch is great, I put like 65hr into the vanilla version of it with no problems. However I do have to admit, the patch is pretty substantial and totally changes the game for the better, it also adds a lot of content and after spending 10hrs on it I wouldn't go back.

The game became faster, more efficient and easy to play, the level cap was raised, companion AI was refined, battle mechanics were made to be faster and smoother, frame rate became more stable, etc, etc. The added content gives you 3 new areas as well as complete new missions with each Heroine and all together it gives you about 30hrs of content on top of the 80+ from the main game.

I seriously hope that the folks buying the us version get this patch, it is big, like half a Gig big, but it turns a beautiful game into a masterpiece aha!

I've been playing fez on my vita and didn't sync my trophies. Starting playing it on ps4 through cross save and I've been getting trophies I've already gotten before on my vita. What will happen when I sync my vita up again? Will I get the vita trophies back or are they gone?

I'm having trouble getting into Dragon's Crown. I actually bought it when it first came out, but only put 4 hours into it before moving on to other things. I recently got Muramasa through PS + and fell in love with it. Thought it was absolutely addicting. So after that, I gave Dragon's Crown a second shot (since it was free on PS+, and I was hungry for more of that style of game).

WELL, I think my issue is the gameplay. I just don't find it as fast/fun as Muramasa. I also find party members distracting (too much shit going on screen at once, and I often find higher level AI do most of the work killing enemies, that I feel useless). I've tried 3 classes now, and none of them have really clicked with me. =/

I would say there is a good chance that another episode comes to the west, especially if Danganronpa 2 does well which seems likely.
Ditto.

I had a similar thing happen with Rogue Legacy. I think what happens is the trophies on both systems you earn are separate and as such don't match with eachother, but the Vita has ones earned in offline mode until you sync them with the server, whereas the PS4 takes the one on the system and uploads them to the server (seeing as how you can't view them offline)

So when you sync your Vita trophies to the server it should include both the ones you earned on Vita and PS4 (if you've synced them on there) I'm not 100% sure on it but I think that's how it works.

It might not be for you then. At higher levels there is just more stuff going on on the screen. Specially playing with other high level players or even just npcs. Make sure you are constantly upgrade your gear and repairing when you need it. That can drop your damage a lot.

Have you tried to play solo or just with one companion?

I removed the AI since it felt it was making enemy scale with how many i had. And they have the bad habit to kill themselves on top of it.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've actually been loading up my entire party when going into dungeons. Can you go into a dungeon with just 1 ally? Is it doable?

To be clear, I'm not saying Dragon's Crown is a bad game. I think it's amazing, really. I just, am not feeling satisfied with how I'm playing the game. I always feel like I'm just a third wheel (and the AI is quickly killing things before I can, or doing most of the damage). Maybe scaling back the AI so I can be more up front will make it better.

Then again, maybe I just suck at this game. Totally possible. I love everything about this game, just feeling frustrated with my execution of the gameplay I guess. Hard to explain.

On the tavern, when selecting the AI, press triangle - it will block that party slot, so neither AI or another player will join, effectly reducing your party's size.
Then, on options, you can block AI from joining, so only other players will be able to join your party.

Well i only did 2-3 dungeons at the start of the game with a mage ally and i felt like i was doing no damage while the mage was destroying mobs here and there without a sweat, maybe it gets better at one point but i felt so much like a third wheel i just ended up going solo.
The worst was when he went into flames, extremly readable boss patterns or random traps like some kind of masochist and died, leaving me alone with a scaled level. Urgh.

Thanks, knowing me I would have just ran into the dungeon, and wondered why they were joining my party lol You guys have been a lot of help! I'll try to jump back into the game later today (with a reduced party size) and will let you know how it goes.

I feel dumb, but I didn't even realize real players could join my match. That could actually be fun? Although I would probably weigh down the group, still kind of suck lol
