Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

LMFAO well...actually, now that you mention it as kid I did hate Peach with a burning passion to the point where during my imaginative concepts of an N64 game based on me, my friends and I would tie up Peach into the core of a volcano and wait for the lava sharks to eat her until she was just a skeleton.

Eventually when I was eleven, I realized how fucked I was when I was younger and played as her for the very first time in Mario Party as a truce. She is quite peachy, that Peach.

I was wrong about you. You weren't a misogynist, but something far worse.

Sakurai purposefully made Ganondorf a horrible character in Brawl so no one else would use him because he literally loves Ganondorf and wants him all to himself.

I'd really love a future game that could translate the style of some of SM64's concept art.

It's not gritty, but it's still relatively mysterious and melancholy. Perhaps something like it could be a planet in Super Rosalina Galaxy?

This is what I want the next 3D Mario look like like.

So for the first time since about middle school I'll be able to play smash on the reg, since my copy form Amazon will be arriving tomorrow. I owned it a while ago but never played it super competently, so do you guys have any tips or advice for brawl?

I didn't realise he was that stereotypical a yandere...

"Ganondorf-chan...I want you to be mine...forever..."

*insert some irritating onomatopoeic laugh here*

Someday we'll discover Sakurai programmed an intricate 50-button code into Ganondorf that unleashes his true power, and told no one about it because Ganondorf is his main

Tips for Brawl? Do you have an SD card? Then have I a Project M for you.

I'm kidding (although you should give that a try down the line as well), just have fun with the game. Go through the Subspace, do all the minigames, fight your friends, etc. Play Metaknight too.

It's not as bad of a game as some people (myself included kinda) make it out to be. It's actually solid. Sooooo just have fun with it, and if you wanna change it up, try out Project M sometime. You don't even have to mod your Wii for that, so it's a safe alternative.

Going back to Brawl, I find the game plenty fun, but the visual style is so off-putting now. Gritty realism really does not suit Nintendo's magical universe of whimsy and wonder. Even the grim-dark-iest of Nintendo fare is a FAR sight brighter and lighter than what Brawl depicted.

Link/Zelda/Ganondorf in Brawl: the trio of suck

lmao at Toon Link being the best Zelda character in Brawl, good times

Yeah, the Triforce of Jank. I used all 3 of them too. Ignored Sheik in brawl, and still ignoring Toon Link in Smash 4, lol.

I started playing Olimar back when he was considered bad actually since my luck with the Triforce was so bad, lol.

Oh I'm totally going project M on this, but the SD card (and the wii, for that matter) don't come until later in the week. Brawl and Metroid prime tirlogy come tomorrow, so i'm using my sister's wii to play brawl for a bit with her and my brothers. I'm also going to homebrew the shit out of it, just so I can play the entirety of skyward sword with link's starting outfit.

Oh, well have fun then. Project M is a blast, and Metroid Prime Trilogy is my favorite collection of all time. I think you'll have an amazing time with it!

Seriously though, break out metaknight on your siblings, lol.

Edit: Skyward Sword is amazing as well.

strategy whenever I'm stuck with a Wiimote: spam Tornado and D-smash
it works well enough against randoms

One of my best friends and I went to Cedar Point last fall for Halloweekends. I forget the name of the ride but there's one rollercoaster where after many, many corkscrews, the ride enters a dark tunnel and slows nearly to a stop. You think it's over, and you expect to coast back to the start, but then the ride fucking blasts full-speed ahead at the speed of light, and there's an entire second half to the ride.

I wonder if we're in the tunnel right now, on Sakurai's Hype Train Rollercoaster. Lulled into a false sense of security -- "Oh, an AT de-confirms a characters, how interesting" -- only for it to ramp up with a bombastic onslaught of veterans, newcomers, stages, modes, etc.

Here's hoping!

Speaking of Assist Trophies, now that FE is getting more love, I hope we get a few more new Fire Emblem ones other than Lyn, who I love, but who was already in Brawl.

Someone like Hector, Eliwood, Soren, Tharja, or even a manakete.

It's not with you, I'm just saying. You'll get to see a good one.

Oh yeah, you made a bet with Batty. I can't wait to see what it is. I still have a bet with Batty.

Did you WANT to lose avatar bets?

To be honest, I felt that I was on good streak but bam, Takamaru got disconfirmed. Now I have 13-2 record. There are several easy bets that I snatched. For example, I bet that Ridley would be in Smash 4, and someone took that bet. What I meant, Ridley itself in Smash 4. It don't have to be playable or whatever. A trophy would be sufficient enough.

100% agree. So glad they moved away from the "grittier" style.

For me, bets are about quality not quantity. I want a nice good long chunk of time, not something that'll be gone in a week.

I've been meaning to tell you thanks.
\s
BTW, am I going to be done when the 3DS version launches in Japan, am I going to have to wait for the US launch, or are you sick enough to make me wait for the Wii U version?

My enjoyment with Brawl depends on the character I play. I main Wario, a character that absolutely benefits from Brawl's mechanics in a lot of ways. He's floaty by design, and his aerial mobility is easily the best in the whole series so I don't feel like I'm playing on slow mo (even after playing Melee extensively). Also considering the character is heavily aerial-based, tripping with him is reeaaaallly rare. Snake is another one I really enjoy, and considering he's designed to be slow and campy he really benefits from Brawl's mechanics just like Wario.

When I play someone like Fox and Pikachu though...yeah, no thanks.

We are almost a month out from the Japanese release, if we're gonna hit the hype state now would be good.
