Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

Is she solid snake?

If not, then what in hell are you even talking about?

I'm pretty sure she's actually Naomi Hunter.

The fact dynablade isn't a boss in any of the smash bros games is an injustice.

speaking of dyna blade remember that one video where a guy claimed a nintendo rep at e3 told him smash run would have boss events like air ride did and would have bosses like dyna blade, kraid, and a kremling boss

i don't know if a nintendo rep manning an e3 booth would have access to that sort of info so it's very possible he's talking out his ass but it sounds somewhat plausible and could be neat

I really feel as though Nintendo is taking the time to at least give the competitive community a chance with the Smash Bros franchise while spreading more awareness to casual gamers who just play for fun. They're looking to find the "Happy Medium" so to speak. I got this when I actually had a little conversation with JC from Treehouse.

Whether or not this will affect the physics or gameplay to supplement their melee fix...I honestly wouldn't get your hopes up. For now. I could be wrong though.

I think right now, NOA and NOE (Probably NOJ as well with their recent convention in Japan) are showing Sakurai that his Action title can also have elements of fun through competitive metagames because he strikes me as the kind of developer who doesn't try to take a lot of fan input into consideration when making a smash bros title.

I can believe that Sakurai and Bandai Namco are at least doing some tweaks to the engine and character balance since E3 so there's that, but I wouldn't say it'll be completely different by release. If anything, Nintendo might just be showing fans how competitive both titles really are (whether you like items or not), and i'm thankful. I am in no way a competitive player but I enjoy watching and conversing with the community and playing with friends and family.

So yeah, go ahead and take a little dip in the water first Nintendo.

I think this all was coming not all too surprisingly, even though it certainly was pleasant to see Nintendo finally starting to act after over a decade of the competitive scene being neglected.

And, I really don't wanna give too much credit to the Melee community, but their plead and donation drive for EVO, and the huge media buzz that the one stunt with that Nintendo PR dude telling EVO not to stream Melee, was what led Nintendo to develop an interest into the competitive scene.

They then tried to see how much buzz they could produce and made that invitational for E3, where they nabbed some well-known players for competitors and narrators, and the feedback was staggeringly positive. So they threw together another thing for SDCC. Obviously, if you checked the stream even once, all the technical problems they had was hard evidence for how little they prepared for that. I'm pretty sure that the SDCC tournament was super short notice. And they've only started looking for the narrators for Gamescom about a month before the event as well, so that also is fairly short noticed all things considered.

I think that Nintendo just did not expect such a positive response from their fans in regards to hosting tournaments and dipping into the competitive scene, and I think the fact that they're starting to realize how much power is behind it and how much they can gain from supporting it is absolutely amazing.

Smash Bros. has been one of the very few fighting game series that never got any recognition for their competitive scene from the respective developer, but now it's happening, and for me, as a tourney host and long-time player of the series (both casually and competitively), this is probably the biggest turn of events of all time. I really hope Nintendo starts to actively support the competitive Smash scene.

not at all! she's awesome. you're awesome!

there's a reason why I recently ranked her at like 305 in my game. lol
Lucina is definitely my favorite time-traveling cross-dressing brand-eyed hero-king doppelganger

If nothing else, definitely in my Top Five favorite time-traveling cross-dressing brand-eyed hero king dopplegangers

Have you guys figured out the final roster yet?

If not, why do I continue to pay you all imaginary money?
Have you figured out the final roster yet? If not, why do we keep paying you attention?

But seriously, weren't you supposed to be leaking the full roster soon?

Absolutely great insight here. Going to all 3 events, and meeting all kinds of people who normally wouldn't even hang out with each other shows how powerfully social this game really is. That's why I love it. I mean damn, I know some fairly well known people (including personal friends of mine) in the music industry that I work in that love this game!

In any case, I believe Smash 4 will succeed Brawl at least in terms of the competitive community. I'll have fun with this title but i'll be the spectator at events.

This is a given honestly.

Nintendo showing some amount of support for the competitive community is definitely appreciated but I think it's far, far later than it should have been and they've missed out on a lot of potential business and marketing opportunities over these years.

No one's perfect, especially businesses. Melee and Brawl could've definitely used more fan related input/events but that's the past now. Smash 4 is a step in the right direction for them though. Keep doing this if you're reading our posts, Nintendo!

...since when was Ruto blond?
If you guys are talking about that MGS x Zelda pic, Ruto is probably the blue-haired version of Sniper Wolf. Note the fin-like protrusions at her waist. And the hairstyle is shaped like Ruto's head. And, well, her hair is blue.

Better start uploading pictures of every possible alt color to imgur before the next official texture swap is unveiled.
Does anyone here have 3D modeling experience? I want to prove I'm legit by showing mockups of Boots Mode, where all characters wear Lucina Boots, before Sakurai reveals it on Tuesday.
