While I don't consider Missouri or more specifically Saint Louis to be part of the south I think that the argument isnt even applicable to the current situation. Ferguson and the surrounding area are not really representative of Missouri or St. Louis as a whole. The area this is all taking place in is a sort of wasteland wrapped up in an enigma, even by St. Louis standards. Not just the city of Ferguson but all of North County. Im not sure how it happened but the whole of North County has become this place that the rest of St. Louis ignores and/or avoids. There are no notable restaurants or businesses or anything of note. It has always been a really depressing place to me in that it just feels like it is dying a slow death. People stay away from East St. Louis because it is dangerous. People stay away from North County because they like to pretend it doesn't exist. Basically if you don't live in North County you don't go to North County, unless you have to go to the airport.
But what if a riot group is throwing bricks/bottles/etc at officers injuring them while they are just protecting private property and maintaining order what do you think they should do? I would say tear gas to get the group to disperse and have police presence on every corner of the rioting area.
Oh look, some good apples engaging the community in a way that will deescalate tensions, Clearly theyve been well trained in public relations, courtesy and service.

Being pregnant isn't going to dictate one being "softer" on her if she refuses to follow commands.Pregnant protester claims police maced and threw her to ground; incident caught on video
FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A pregnant protester claimed she was maced, thrown to the ground, and held at gunpoint by police during protests and riots in Ferguson.
Cellphone video allegedly captured the incident Sunday night at a parking lot at W. Florissant and Lucas and Hunt. It shows police officers in riot gear rushing a vehicle and pulling the people inside to the ground.
They was just like if yall dont shut up, were gonna mace yall and take yall to jail, said Mikiesha Wickerson, whos six months pregnant.
Wickerson claims her two cousins and their friend in the car were yelling at police with the doors to the car closed and not moving when the officers rushed the vehicle. She said no one inside the car had weapons.
Everyone in the car was arrested and taken to jail, said Wickerson.
I was like can I please get some air because I started contracting and I was sweating and had the mace running through my eyes, Wickerson said.
She was taken to a hospital after the incident and checked out, and said she was told the baby should be fine.
When made aware of the video, St. Louis County police officer Brian Schellman said police officials will review the video as soon as possible. Unfortunately due to the nature of this current situation in the county it may not be immediately, said Schellman.

Why are you brainstorming fantasy scenarios that might justify the police almost killing a civilian with a rubber bullet?
I haven't followed the story. The consensus went from STL cops execute boy to ???Accuracy.
Rubber pellets are fired from a 40mm. They're painful, and are a fine tool. I got to fire one a couple months back.^are those rubber bullet in their rifles?
Not likely in all rifles. The guy on the right seems to be holding a paintball gun or beanbag gun? The guy on the left seems to be holding an AR-15. Usually police have some people with live ammo on hand just incase they need to use it. The rest usually use rubber bullets, bean bags, batons, and stun/tear gas grenades with pistols holstered.^are those rubber bullet in their rifles?

Yep on the Paintball gun, but with OC balls. Able to disperse small clouds of pepper spray into crowds - can be very effective. Not likely in all rifles. Ah, so that's what they use. Simple but smart, smarter than buying expensive grenade launchers and grenades that do the same.Yep on the Paintball gun, but with OC balls. Able to disperse small clouds of pepper spray into crowds - can be very effective.

The hell are you talking about? I'm not brainstorming to justify brutally assaulting private citizens. I was asking a question. About what the response SHOULD be if rioters are attacking police while rioting/looting/protesting.
You really want to defend this?Being pregnant isn't going to dictate one being "softer" on her if she refuses to follow commands.

Yep, but it doesn't have the awesome factor of seeing a 40mm firing a rubber bullet. Hearing that "thump" - especially since the rubber bullets are conveniently re-useable. But the pepper balls make eyes cry in a hurry. OC is my kryptonite... I hate it with a deep dark passion.Ah, so that's what they use. Published by them a while back and he started receiving death threats after it was posted.Anon is involved and apparently has the Police Cheif address and number.'

I have no idea, but it's easy to jump on the pregnant card just like it's easy to jump on the unarmed card - all I was stating was that there is a proportionate response given to scenarios that require it. Being pregnant isn't going to give her a free pass to not get OC'd.Did she break any laws? They are cops are not prison guards and she was a pregnant women who was not armed but, lets treat everyone we see like criminals. Do you treat every citizen you see like a criminal?

Have you experienced the CN gas fired from the 870s? Flowery smell of eye death.I've been hit with of and it does sting like hell. However I have only seen rubber bullets fired from 870s.

You're really putting on an impressive defense here, basically cops can't do anything wrong is what I've gathered from your posts.
God forbid I ever see myself on the opposite side of the barrel of any 870.Have you experienced the CN gas fired from the 870s? Flowery smell of eye death.
Ah, outside of training, indeed... Indeed.God forbid I ever see myself on the opposite side of the barrel of any 870.

Why not? Is this a job for robots? Or should a mind, empathy and wisdom actually be employed depending upon the situation?Being pregnant isn't going to dictate one being "softer" on her if she refuses to follow commands.
Wait, did anonymous get the police officer's number before the station released the name? How?
No, but I do enjoy discussing firearms - I've never fired any of such at anyone nor do I have any desire to do that. I have however been on the receiving end of the OC and CN. I was smart enough to not volunteer to be shot by a rubber bullet, mind you.You get off to the thought of using these weapons on people, don't you?
Get a room you twoGod forbid I ever see myself on the opposite side of the barrel of any 870.
Only thing I have seen is of the police chief.
Yes, which is why policing is 95% communication. Goal is always de-escalate with the least amount of force required.Shouldn't the idea be to de-escalate matters?
Definitely agree. The unfortunate thing is cops aren't trained well enough in non violent solution.Yes, which is why policing is 95% communication. Goal is always de-escalate with the least amount of force required.
