The Order 1886 Gamescom Gameplay Trailer

I'm saying that it needs some sort of gimmick; something to make it interesting. A mechanic that isn't pressing L1 followed by R1 over and over again. Either that or they need to make their shooting more interesting within the mechanics that they already have. In games like Uncharted you move around a lot and mix up the gunplay with melee, which suddenly makes things way more interesting. In The Order there seems to be barely any movement at all.

It has lots of things that give it a unique flavour compared to other tps. So far we've seen...

- Gritty steampunk infused London time setting and period.
- Great attention to lore and narrative.
- Third person shooting mechanics and a soft cover system with heavy emphasis on effects and dramatism.
- Diversity in weapons from the thermite rifle (change in gameplay tactics), arc cannon etc.
- Slow motion mode, or bullet time.
- Exploration, including use of binoculars etc.
- Using weapon attributes to melt obstacles in non combat scenario's (potential for puzzle use later on).
- Horror or suspense segments (lantern exploration).
- Melee combat system with branching options.
- Range of enemy types from rebels to intelligent lycans (which are hinted to come in multiple forms).
- Poignant historic figures etc playing a part (Nikola Tesla, Jack the Ripper).
- Insanely good visuals (probably the best of any game out there).

And that's all in only a very few short minutes of actual gameplay they've shown thus far.

Now this is some valid criticism, unlike your previous post.
And yes, i do share such thoughts.

I'm on the same boat.

Like, the game looks pretty damn interesting but it lacks that liiiiittle something, gameplay wise, that makes me go "oh yeah this looks like really fun" added to the already amazing graphics and (it seems so at least) good story.

They still got time and seem to have upped their game so i'm curious to what they'll show next

It's kind of strange looking at this now. Especially after Bloodborne's dark Victorian setting is honestly much more impressive.

Eagerly anticipating this one. I like a good tps if the gunplay is tight and the pace is good. I hope they don't burden this thing with a bunch not stealth sections. The weapons kick ass, force me to use them. PEACE.

Whoa just watched the trailer (missed during the conference). This is cerainly the best showing of the game since the original reveal trailer. Looks so good

I hope RAD adds some screen space reflection to those shiny floors
And they need to increase how long the smoke stays on screen
And add some blood and gore

graphically the game is up there, reminds me of the Final Fantasy XV tech demo trailer

dees graffiks tho

I don't really understand why this trailer is changing opinions to be honest. It's just a quick cut version of everything we've seen already.

I still need like 10-15 minutes unedited before I really know what this game is. The cutscene to gameplay split is still something I'm very concerned about.

You could tell me that the game is shit. But I have to play this if it has Nikola Tesla.

I can't believe more developers haven't taken him in advantage. He's amazing, and I'm glad that at least one developer has put him in the spotlight like this.

HE BETTER BE A BIG FIGURE IN THE GAME, RAD. Oh, thanks and this is awesome. Hype x100

I was very critical of this game given the previous trailers but it really looks like it might be a must play title. They need to show more diversity of gameplay soon but that trailer twisted the key that started the hype engine and its hitting on all cylinders.

i just cant get excited for this game.

Try drinking coffee then watching the trailer.

Looks gorgeous but the werewolf angle is a huge turn off of what could've been an amazing series.

Why?

He's scared of dogs.

oh no it's that concerned cinema games concern guy.

This was an excellent trailer.

The original reveal trailer from E3 2013 was also excellent, but all the trailers for The Order: 1886 since then have been mediocre.

This one returns to excellence. Well done Ready at Dawn.

Old timey button down overalls change everything.

The thing is, we've actually seen very littleof this. Weapon diversity seems to be mostly cosmetic, from what we've seen so far. I haven't actually seen any tactics in play at all from all of the gameplay shown. Regardless of what weapon you're using and wht enemy you're facing it all seems to end up in the same thing. You barely even have to aim.

By slo mo mode, do you mean that mode where you completely lose control over your character and every enemy just dies? I would hardly call that gameplay. We've not seen any melee combat yet, unless by melee combat you mean the QTEs, which is probably the least interactive gameplay mechanic ever concieved.

I don't think these are gameplay related

All of these are awfully shallow and/or nothing new.

Not even half of these are unique and the last point always depends on the current state of the console cycle.

Anyone else notice this clip featured the same moment where your attacked by the werewolf but this time he interrupted the werewolf jump towards the character with a well aimed shot, hope this means more dynamic gameplay and not scripted :)

Also loving the werewolf's in this, they feel more human and as such more dangerous. Maybe they'll work in packs to flank you in some of the larger areas of the game - hopefully!

Pretty much.Totally baffled by the reactions in this thread. This trailer neither illuminated anything new (beyond Tesla being a character, I guess) nor addressed voiced concerns. We still know nothing about this game.

I don't understand, what part of my post made you think I realized what type of game this is while watching this trailer?

So you just felt like coming into a thread for a game you have absolutely no interest in, to tell everyone you have no interest in it?

Is there a version of this game where I can just wander around the beautiful architecture and mess with gadgets? I am incredibly uninterested by the shooting game mechanics in place here, but the atmosphere and environmental design are enormously impressive.

If that was the case:
Whats the problem? Is that not allowed? "Hype or git, bitch"?

In fact:
I, like many others here, hoped that this trailer would show that this game has more to offer than cinematic third person shooting. It didn't. I was disappointed. I used a discussion forum thread about the game to relay my reaction.

Not everyone is going to like every game. Maybe there's nothing wrong with the game design, and it's just not for you. The criticisms of this game have gotten rather ridiculous, particularly coming from people who haven't played it, but have played a bunch of other repetitive, copycat games. PEACE.

Yeah that trailer was really well done. Looking forward to this game.

HHGGNN.

Just make sure to nail the controls! :P

This is objectively false. A thermite rifle that doesn't even fire normal bullets but instead a spray of ignitable and flammable thermite, which you can use tactically around, over, or behind enemy cover to set off, using a secondary spark attack, is obviously not just cosmetic. It's more of a switch up in weapon tactics and properties than most weapons in third person shooters.

What a throw away statement that does nothing to address any valid criticisms people have had. You're borderline insulting my intelligence here. I see things that seem just straight up wrong from what they have shown and said and I'm supposed to just go "oh, well it's just not for me" and say nothing.

Nothing wrong with the game design? So it's perfect?
