Well, it was obvious the FOX Engine was at play. I know Kojima will probably take a producer role. Not sure I'm interested in Silent Hills.

I don't know, man. It might not be as far along as you think.

I guess we can only judge by what we've seen, but I've got to imagine that MGSV's development is wrapping up at this point. They've been working on it (alongside the Fox Engine) since Peace Walker's release. We'll see.

I'm pretty sure this will be Kojima's next game and he will be heavily involved in it.

.

If I'm not mistaken it was his dev team that cried for it. Honestly, Kojima is at his best when he does what he wants & ignores his team and his fans.

Not just that. His entire team said that the survival aspects of MGS3 were a bad idea and they urged him to take them out. He refused, thank god.

Yeah, I understand why Kojima has a hard time passing the baton of MGS to someone else.

Right, the whole survival aspect of 3 is classic!

let's not get ahead of ourselves here folks. surely MGSV is nowhere near gold. at best it's 6 months away from that and we've only seen the intro and the very first mission. i hope it's that far along. but we really don't have any idea at what stage of development they are at other than the "early 2015" target

We should know by tomorrow :D besides with that 10 million install base on ps4 (and growing by the time of release) it's safe to assume the game is closer than we think.

Btw guys seems like uknighted at request of konami is streaming the event tomorrow.

Is it bad I decided my next gen console is going to be da bone? I was originally going to get myself a ps3 copy of TPP, but couple that with the Master Chief Collection, I've finally found a next gen console with lots to look forward to.

Well the PS4 version of MGSV looks better.

Judging from Ground Zeroes, the Xbone version will look a slightly worse (720p vs 1080p), but it's nothing major.

Well the PS4 version of MGSV looks better.

I agree, only marginally though. I really don't see anything in the near future for PS4 that interests me though. Same could be said for XBone, but two solid titles that have me genuinely excited is better than one. Especially since one of them will be available on a platform I already own.

uhh no. not even close. games don't go gold until usually less than a month before release.
Brain fart over there, I wanted to say nearing the final stages but somehow thought final stages = ready to release lol

I really hope they show us the release date tomorrow. I gotta know what days to take off so I can go to the inevital L.A. release event.

Man I really can't wait for this presentation holy shit, it's gonna be mindblowing.

FUCK I CAN'T WAIT I'm ALREADY BREWING COFFEE.

Right? man i can't fucking sleep. I'm so hype for this event it's ridiculous.

initially I wasn't really impressed by the cardboard box gameplay, but I am assuming that if Kojima's team had spent so much time and detail into cardboard box gameplay tricks, that they also spent a crazy amount of time adding detail to other parts of gameplay...

Honesty though, I would trade all the cardboard box gameplay with some sick Knife CQC moves (think Kali knife fighting).

Who knows maybe there will be some sick Knife CQC in the game, I forget which interview it was but he said that in the Phantom Pain the gameplay systems and CQC is even more in-depth. If the cardboard box gameplay we've seen is any indicator, I'd say we're in for a serious treat overall.

Not really. I just don't find there to be that much of a difference between 1080p and 720p. Not to say there isn't one, I certainly prefer 1080p content, but it isn't a massive deal-breaker or anything like some people tend to spout.

any chance you could edit this into one of your posts on the first page?

or better yet, if OP could add it

Sure thing. Well yeah it seems OP is too lazy to put even a source link in the OP.

I had to look up the Konami link a few times from somewhere else, pretty annoying.

Since it seems Kojima is working on Silent Hills, could that mean MGS V is wrapping up and we get a November release date announced tomorrow? Or even better, just like the Silent Hills demo came out of nowhere, maybe tomorrow MGS V is actually released?

Seriously if they reveal a 2014 release date tomorrow i have no idea what i would do. (GET A PS4 ASAP!!!1!) But it's more realistic that the game is very close to final status and we'll probably get it like the leaked release date said March 17, 2015.

whats the link to the stream?

Boss and everyone on Team A,

I have finally come to the conclusion that Kojima is totally going after 'popular' Hollywood actors. His recent collaboration for the next Silent Hill game with known actor/director is an indication for this. Initially, I thought that bringing Sutherland to replace Hayter was just a ruse and now I am 'almost' sure that Kojima has a change of direction in each and every game he is involved with.

I think Hayter is gone. He is not coming back. He is not coming back as Solid Snake or Big Boss. If Solid Snake does indeed show up it will most likely be another big actor. This is not what I want to see but it will happen. Kojima had this fantasy for Hollywood and now after 25 years he is finally realizing his dream.

I am still on Team A but my hopes have died out ever since the Silent Hill reveal. I may or not post about Hayter being involved on GAF anymore but I will definitely keep my hopes in check and be ready for a disappointment. It's best to expect the expected rather than the unexpected. The disappointment will be less that way.

Silent Hill reveal made me a happy gamer but my childhood died a bit inside. It's an indication of Kojima going mainstream, which honestly is good for the medium but for the old fans of the franchise, I am not sure. I grew up on Hayter and have been a fan since 1999. I think its time to let it go.

I guess the emotions I am going through cannot be conveyed through this post. Kojima won't even care about what I think. And why should he? He is after his dream and it's fair. Everyone has the right to achieve their dreams, even Kojima.

I feel depressed, dejected and sad. I am letting a small part inside me die. A part which was extremely special for me for the last so many years. MGSV:TPP will turn out to be great but for a series that actually has so many nostalgic moments, it will be odd that the man behind those moments will no longer be there.

This, right here. MGS1 throws out the window pretty much everything from MG1 and MG2, reusing many characters and events for the plot, yes, but twisting them left and right, all for the sake of the new storyline that Kojima had in mind at the moment.

MGS2 is the most obvious example of this, the game feels like a complete, separate series of its own in comparison to any other game in the series.

MGS3 was more tame in this regard, especially when one takes into consideration that this game was made to appeal to the fans who were pissed off at MGS2, but it still focuses on its own plot at the expense of canon consistency in regards to what came before it.

MGS4 was funny. It tried so hard to patch up everything up until that moment, which made it lack an identity of its own in a big way, but at the same time it had its own storyline which contradicts things right down to the hugely popular MGS3 ending, effectively changing its meaning into something else, all for the sake of the storyline that Kojima felt like writing at the time.

Peace Walker was interesting, because here we see a huge change in focus from narrative to gameplay; one that is also unique in comparison to previous entries in the series, with the base managing and all. Now MGSV is following in on Peace Walker's footsteps in this regard with a gameplay focus, but in the storyline side of things we see this change of style into something more serious and gritty, partly due (but not limited) to Hayter's replacement with Kiefer Sutherland, the attempt to tackle on the so-called taboo subjects, etc.

Overall, it's always been very clear to me that Kojima makes use of his permanent status as MGS director (a self-imposed decision at least, granted, but still a status that he'd like to break away from, as we all know) to make with each MGS the kind of game that he would be making if he weren't chained to the series. The man has never really cared much for consistency whether in terms of canon or plot style. He kind of rebels in the fact that he has to keep making MGS games, throwing everything out the window for the sake of what he wants to create *in the moment*. He's not building a series, he's making individual games as he goes which just happen to be titled the same.
