Boss and everyone on Team A,
I have finally come to the conclusion that Kojima is totally going after 'popular' Hollywood actors. His recent collaboration for the next Silent Hill game with known actor/director is an indication for this. Initially, I thought that bringing Sutherland to replace Hayter was just a ruse and now I am 'almost' sure that Kojima has a change of direction in each and every game he is involved with.
I think Hayter is gone. He is not coming back. He is not coming back as Solid Snake or Big Boss. If Solid Snake does indeed show up it will most likely be another big actor. This is not what I want to see but it will happen. Kojima had this fantasy for Hollywood and now after 25 years he is finally realizing his dream.
I am still on Team A but my hopes have died out ever since the Silent Hill reveal. I may or not post about Hayter being involved on GAF anymore but I will definitely keep my hopes in check and be ready for a disappointment. It's best to expect the expected rather than the unexpected. The disappointment will be less that way.
Silent Hill reveal made me a happy gamer but my childhood died a bit inside. It's an indication of Kojima going mainstream, which honestly is good for the medium but for the old fans of the franchise, I am not sure. I grew up on Hayter and have been a fan since 1999. I think its time to let it go.
I guess the emotions I am going through cannot be conveyed through this post. Kojima won't even care about what I think. And why should he? He is after his dream and it's fair. Everyone has the right to achieve their dreams, even Kojima.
I feel depressed, dejected and sad. I am letting a small part inside me die. A part which was extremely special for me for the last so many years. MGSV:TPP will turn out to be great but for a series that actually has so many nostalgic moments, it will be odd that the man behind those moments will no longer be there.
Signing out.
