i think a lot of em are fine some are weird but i think most are fine the ones that took me a bit of getting used to was ellencia, ike, micaiah and the lord from sacred stones (i keep forgetting her name) and that one lord with blue hair (thats not lyn lol)
 
Yeah, y'know, I've gotta wake up kinda early, and I don't really lose much by waking up to the pic (or not, who knows) instead of waiting for it to go up.

I went back and counted up the DLC art that I found acceptable, and found slightly more than half.

Okay, I didn't know that character was cavalry. I'll give you that one.

I'm looking at most of Red Arremer's examples and I'm still not seeing 'over-designed'. Or rather we're using different standards because he complains about over-design when he's really just pointing out practical concerns (but the 'winged head dress = spears' thing is kind of a stretch). Because yes, there are very few FEA designs that are actually reasonable armour designs, but you can lack visual noise and still not be 100% accurate to combat standards or whatever.

Over-designed means that your design is bogged down by too many extraneous details. Sumia doesn't look particularly practical, but she's not lost inside her own design. She has a recognizable profile and her armour doesn't grab unwanted attention.

Alright. Maybe I used the wrong word. It's 9:30 AM and I've been up for about 12 hours or so across the night and my English skills are failing me worse than they usually do. I apologize. Not practical, then.

Marth: Simple/practical enough, although I dunno what's up with that striped design.
Est: Pretty much exactly the same design as the original, except with added details on weaponry/belt. Alright, even tho I already don't like the original design.
Catria: Are you fucking shitting me.
Palla: ALL THE STRAPS! \o/ Also what's up with that weird bulbous arm armor.
Alm: More detailed version of the original. I don't like the weird design choices, but I'll allow it.
Celica: We've been over that.
Seliph: C'mon.
Eldigan: Can't find full body art of his Awakening design, but the upper half is alright.
Leif: Could do without the flappy brown parts on his cape, but he's okay.
Roy: Now you can't tell me that THIS isn't over-designed. That's like, the definition. There's so much shit going on holy cow.
Lyndis: Dem Liefeld feet. I guess this one is alright, though.
Eirika: Not even trying.
Ephraim: Looks decent enough, although I prefer the leather with a few steel guard pieces from Sacred Stones.
Ike: lolnope.
Elincia: Her original design was already a bit over the top, but this is even more ridiculous.
Micaiah: Been over it.
Katarina: That one is super borderline, but I think it's a bit over the top as well.

Okay, so out of 16 DLC characters, 9 characters are hell naw, 2 are borderline (Katarina and Alm), 1 already started out pretty bad (Est), and 4 are actually practical. Still not particularly convinced me of Awakening's designs being great.
