WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

This sounds great my one wish is that you cant start a match with chokeslams, spears and stunners. I still think that you should be able to attempt those big moves, but the chances of them actually connecting should be low. I love that stamina runs actually plays a part, unlike 2k14 where asshole run around the ring and spam run grapples all damn match. also, pleeeease make the lt+rt grabs counterable. how that wasnt ever patched makes no fucking sense.

And stop bringing up No Mercy and older SvR games. I'm the biggest wrestling game nerd you'll find and WWE2k14, when played with people who don't cheese, is better period. more gameplay possibilities, more moves, better caw and better graphics. let go of the past ya'll.
 
Man, remember HCTP, where the only wrestler with a score of over 90 was Brock Lesnar (91), and guys like Shawn Micheals (80) Undertaker (85) Kurt Angle (89) were all in the 80s? Hell, even HHH was only a 90
 
They need to ditch the sim gameplay route and make the games batshit crazy.

-Hogan gets a 2nd health bar and becomes stronger after he Hulks Up
-Taker takes 1/3 damage of everyone else unless you attack Paul Bearer
-Ric Flair gets stronger the more he bleeds
-Macho Man's strength increases the closer an opponent gets to Miss Elizabeth

They need to make more games that take gimmicks seriously.
Yeah and when Daniel Bryan does his taunt the crowd pumps up so loud you have unlimited finishers.

If John Cena gets beat the entire match then he automatically wins by default.

Stone Colds punches have as much strength as The Hulk's when he's extra angry.

If you're going against classic hbk, you're automatically buried no matter how much you try to win.

Ultimate Warrior injures every opponent in universe mode.

If you do springboard moves with Rey, you are injured on point.

Old Ric Flair comes to the ring drunk with only 1/3 of his energy.


And you can only use John Cena, HBK, or The Undertaker to beat HHH.
 
Some more really ill-timed potato screens. Wouldn't put much stock into how the game will actually look in person based on these.

You do realize that when we bring up No Mercy, we don't mean we want the exact same game with a different roster, right? We want a similar grappling/fighting system. Nobody would argue that No Mercy had better CAW/graphics.

-- Stone Cold has a secondary "pissed off" meter that fills when he takes damage.
-- Ultimate Warrior regains health by shaking the ropes, but loses stamina in the process.
-- Goldberg is invincible for the first 90 seconds of every match. After 90 seconds his stats decrease by 10% every 30 seconds.
-- Rock's stats are based on how loud the crowd is
-- Bret Hart gives a 15% boost to all allies an a 5% boost to opponents, because Bret Hart makes everyone look good.
-- CM Punk's stats increase/decrease based on the quality of opponent
-- Razor Ramon has a 33% chance of slipping out of any grapple due to his greasy machismo.
 
2K will be making a big mistake if they let the first gameplay footage of this be from a potato cam at Gamescom! They should release something official asap, as we're guaranteed to get video of it from the show floor.

I think people who say this didnt really give the 2k series a chance All the things that I wish the Svr series adopted from No Mercy have been implemented in 2k14, most of them better. The strikes have a lot more impact. they took the grappling mechanics and added more depth. apron springboards as well as turnbuckle and inside the ring ones. groggy states to set up other moves/finishers. multiple counters to punches and kicks etc. Its just a lot of nostalgia going on, instead of really giving the new games a chance. at first i played 2k14, said fuck it and went back to firepro and no mercy via emulation. cpu crashed forcing me to give 2k14 another chance and i cant even go back to them right now im enjoying the game so much.

Yet when me and my friends play, we play No mercy with a texture pack and Day of Reckoning 2. 2k14 is good to laugh at, but it's not fun unless you're fucking up tabnles off ladders and the like.
 
It seems everyone gets wrapped up with the cosmetic stuff, including the roster, which is hyped ever year with the assist by IGN and the gameply skates right under the radar. These games are shallow and as basic as you can get for a fighter. Half of the action seems randomized.

I would love to see the AKI system retooled for a modern game.
 
Meh

Models look great, but it still resembles the current games too much. Guys still bounce off the ring upon impact as if its a trampoline. Much of the animation and movement just looks so similar to last year

I don't agree. I still prefer Revenge/No Mercy.
 
good god i do not ever want a 'kayfabe/meta' wrestling game

unless it was a spin off like all stars, just keep that shit away from me

also footage looks good, really impressed with the new animations/mo-cap (even have Cesaro's warm up rope thing in there) - but it'd be much easier to judge how this game played if it were played by someone who knew more than 2 moves

they have 2 months still - having QA not being outsourced should be a huge asset - hopefully it's utilized fully this year, but with a cross gen release who knows

And how could I forget, Cena never loses an i quit match.
 
I don't want to sound like I'm blindly defending the game, but I do think the gameplay looks improved from last year. What isn't doing that video any favors is that the guy playing really seems like he has no idea what he's doing.
 
Hopefully we get a new Wrestle Kingdom or King of Colosseum game somehow.

What makes 2k14 laughable...there are flaws and exploits but overall it brings everything No Mercy did to the table plus more. Complaints about 2k14 remind me of people complaining about Halo 4. Apparently that game sucks compared to Halo 3 because you can run (because why should you be able to run in a war game?? blasphemy!), and because there are ordinance drops (even tho you can play matchmaking without them). Meanwhile, I cant go back to Halo 3 at all. And whos to say AKI would still make a better wrestling game. THier last wrestling game was shit. Let go of the past ppl, 2k is your new king just deal with it.
 
Looks likes a way prettier version of 2K14. The animations are somewhat less rough, but, I mean, I've watched enough VGCW to spot 2k14 when I see it,

I do agree with that, even tho the current system works fine i preferred the 2 button revesal system.

Ah yeah, a two button system would be good. One for strikes and grapples maybe. Maybe even instead of just pressing RT you'd have to modify by holding RT and pressing A to reverse a grapple, or RT + X to reverse a strike.

I just really like the dynamic of one player going for a finisher that gets reversed. It's a hype moment
 
Models look great. Now I won't laugh as hard when Jerry Lawler says "Wow, these graphics are so realistic... just wow, Amazing".

Gameplay wise, I need to see more but at least it looks like a huge jump graphically. Hope Booker T is in it to compare. :)
 
That video reminds me of WWF Raw on Xbox for some reason, I'm guessing perhaps because the presentation is closer to a television broadcast. Looks good irregardless.
 
Gameplay looks exactly the same as 2k14. I'll still get this for my casual WWE fix but my birthdays October 13th so I'll likely ask for this and save some money.

21 years old and still playing fucking WWE games when I don't watch the shows anymore.
