MGSV for PC officially confirmed

the massively less powerful GPU as you call it ran watch dogs and at the same time it was the worst optimized PC game of all time, the only way to truly know is to wait until the game releases, other than that speculation wont do any good

The Watch Dogs argument is getting kinda old. The PC version still runs circles around the consoles and it's Ubisoft.

I don't even think MGR's sales were particularly strong. Probably just satisfying enough.

True.

So if I have to guess I would say that it was always intended to be, and at most you'd have to thank MGR for not flopping disastrously, convincing them to cancel this port, rather than the other way around with them never considering it before finding themselves in awe in front of MGR's massive success.

For that I'm thankful since I'm more interested in MGSV than MGR. I never picked it up, but I might now to support Platinum and Konami.

True.

Ah, man. You missed the sale that Nuuvem had a few days ago. I picked MGR up for 7 and change. My backlog is keeping me from playing it at the moment, though.

It's been 11 years so far since the last MGS on PC, holy crap! I'm so glad that PC is a more interesting/relevant platform today than it was a decade ago.

I've never experienced MGO but can't wait for it. Also hopefully, the modding possibilities...

Que?

As unoptimized as it is at Ultra setting, a decent gpu will run it at a higher resolution and double the framerate at high settings just fine.

Oh. That's bizarre and sounds horrible for a game like this. Controller support is fine?

We're just being assholes. I would be astonished if this didn't have full controller support.

The mouse+keyboard implementation may or may not be good but I care very little about that when it comes to third person action games.

...really? I'm out. Can't play third person with mouse & keyboard.

I wish this misconception about PC gaming would end. Pretty much all console-centric games ported to PC have controller support nowadays (and just to remind you guys in case you forgot for the millionth time, PCs can in fact be plugged into your TV via HDMI).

Great, great news. Can't wait to run this at 4K as Ground Zeroes did have a bit too much aliasing. Was hoping GZ would have a "AVAILABLE NOW" surprise but hopefully soon is in fact soon.

This. I've had my main gaming PC plugged into my TV for years... I still predominantly use keyboard/mouse though. A good wireless mouse that works on any surface works great, even for FPS and RTS games like TF2 and SC2.

The definitive version is always the PC version, because even if something is wrong with it, someone will fix it.

Any game I have on console that comes to PC I sell to grab in a steam sale. 100% of the time

This will be my first Metal Gear game
in 3 years when it drops below 10$ =(

Thanks mate. I never would have known I could plug my PC into my TV. Can you teach me how to wipe my arse, too?

I misread the comment and thought they'd made a genuinely bizarre choice for the PC release.

couple of questions, pc d00ds

1. what's the minimum spec graphics card from nvidia i should look into to play this game at 60 fps?

(my monitor's res is 2048 x 1536)

2. why's ground zeroes separate from the final game? i thought it was a demo disc, but it turns out that it's more like a prequel???

muchas gracias

We have no idea.

Ground Zeroes was sold as a full game from the start.

I don't think controlling it with KB/M would be too difficult. I don't know how important are the different move speeds in the MGS series but if it really matters they would just copy Chaos Theory and let select your move speed with the mouse wheel. But then again the last MGS I played was the virtuous mission in a friend's PS2, so I don't really know :P

At first I thought you were talking about this misconception about it not being possible to play 3rd person games with a mouse and keyboard.

I play pretty much every 3rd person game with M/KB, with a few exceptions (this being the games fault, not the M/KB) I actually find controlling a 3rd person game with a M/KB to be better.

I guess I know which version I'm getting now.
:B1:

Mannnn PC gets all the action these days!

I have an i5, 8 gig ram, 670 2gb. I wonder if performance on my machine will be PS4 levels?

Yeah which is driving me nuts. I know Platinum didn't intend it to be region-locked, iirc.

Aren't there hacks or something around it? I mean, there should be an option other than trying to buy it and having pirating as your only option of playing it, right?

But then again, this is Konami...

Region locking is pure feces on any front. It's an archaic idea on a world more globalized than ever before.
