St Louis County police say at least 10 arrests in Ferguson. No civilians injured. #kmov

Hopefully no injuries stick.

Damn, Maddow is throwing down.

didn't know about an armed protest against cops...with the cops backing down.

Yeah, it was an insurrection, but the cops, smartly, backed off. Contrast that to the response to the peaceful protests in Ferguson.

All they had to do was back off. Police are supposed to deescalate.

your proximity to st louis doesn't mean jack shit unless you're standing on that street. you have just as much access as the rest of us.

I think he was inferring that it wasn't a widespread occurrence. Just a localized thing. Still very very disturbing. Can you imagine if any part of our economic society breaks down and the militarized force is patrolling the streets. Shit is crazy to think about. Abuses of power and such.

May just be whatever. I'm in the Twin Cities and getting the trend. I switch to SL and get it. Though when I go to Us i don't. Twitter is just dumb when it comes to this stuff, I swear.
The part that got me is how it's still showing Chicken Fries, Jack's new video and Crazy Good Summer. Pretty sure Twitter only trends things for a short while, and other things would have replaced them by now. Even checking on my phone gives me all the same trends. Guess the server that serves me is broken.

I can't wait to hear what Obama has to say about this. Surely he's been woken up for this by now. Especially with the MIA governor who only now decided to react.

The ToS is pretty clear that we aren't interested in seeing a lot of meta posts. If you're here to discuss the topic, you're welcome. If you're here to discuss the other posters and their posts, clear on out.

That means both sides of the fence.

If someone comes in and says something mind-boggling stupid, the best solution is to simply not respond. Saves the thread from derailing an important issue to discuss a bunch of meta shit about GAF, and it saves people from getting banned when they let someone push their buttons.

Search Ferguson on reddit.

The most comments are about Sir Ferguson and Ronaldo (football)

Any recent updates? Its in the conspiracy subreddit.

I just saw someone tweet that their Facebook post about Ferguson was deleted/removed as soon as he refreshed his page after initially creating it.

No way to tell if it's true or not, however.

Holy shit! How disgusting are these responses? I never said any of the things I'm being accused of. For fucking shame.

This is a terrible, terrible thing. The only point I was trying to make, to offer perspective for those of you not here, is that this fucked up shit is happening on a much smaller scale than people are making it out to be.

who cares what the scale is?
the fact that this is happening right now is all that matters.

No, it doesn't look like the entire town is a warzone, but it looks like the cops are putting on a ludicrous display of power.

If they'd backed-down several hours ago and put the officer under investigation, this probably would have fizzled out.

Agreed. Completely. Thanks for the rational response.

Jesus christ, is it still just police down there?

These constitutional violations are on a small scale? Alright then. Lock the thread up, there have only been a few violations by the police force in response to citizens being displeased with how a young man was murdered while his murderer remains protected and free.

stop. posting.

log. off.

This is a huge fucking deal whether you chose to acknowledge it or not.

He is under investigation. In fact, the feds are investigating pretty much superseding anything Ferguson police would do anyways. These things shockingly take time.

Ponder for at least a few moments that many of us here are fully aware of the scale of tonight's events. But whats happening on that one street is a larger conflict working itself out in microcosm, and that its catalyst and effects reverberate much farther than that one street, in your city, and your state.

People are watching this play out from the other side of this planet because all of this is about more than one person.

This wouldn't have happened in the first place in Ladue, Clayton, Town & Country, etc. The conditions were ripe here for some racially charged killing, that's all I'm saying.

I would really like for you to expound on it, because every possible interpretation of this statement is horrible and not something to say matter-of-factly at all.

We have perspective. The scale is small. If it were the entire city of Ferguson, the scale would still be small.

There is still a militarized police force actively terrorizing a community of people in the United States of America.

That is a big fucking deal. This is a big fucking deal. So yeah, sure, it's "only one block" where citizens of our country are having their rights grossly violated.

Just FYI, apparently Police were telling reporters that they are entering a war zone*. So saying "war zone" isn't something we're making up.

*From Rachel Maddow.

Are you there? Simple question and you've dodged it already. ARE YOU THERE?

Stayed out of this thread because I didn't want to rage at the inevitable "rioters are just as wrong as murdering police" or "they brought it on, shouldn't have antagonized police" kind of posts. Has there been a lot of this or has it been mild/tempered?

Anyway, really proud of the people who are willing to sacrifice their life/freedom for some form of people's justice, since there is no justice left in the US. What bothers me most is the thought that those arrested will get no defense or sympathy from mainstream media/general public. They are totally alone, as most people seem to think taco bell windows are worth more than human beings. It's really depressing.
