Ferguson: Police Kill 18yo Black Male; Fire Gas/Rubber Bullets Into Protesting Crowds

Seriously though, if the Chief hasn't be briefed on the attacks on Al Jazeera and other reporters then he needs to get fired right now.

This is a complete 180 from his attitude yesterday here on local news in St. Louis. Yesterday he was defiant that his officers are handling this "to the best of their ability". Today its nothing but his voice cracking.

I'm guessing it has something to do with this story blowing up over night

Wooow.

He just said everyone in a crowd of protest is seen, as a whole, as hostile if one/two people throw something. Guilty until proven innocent.

Not exactly the same concept.

If someone is attacking from inside a group the group becomes complicit if they remain with that person. Also, the risk of a mob mentality (which is how a lot of riots/looting/etc get started becomes an issue.

If he budges an inch the headlines are going to be "do we really want an angry black man running our country? I mean, just look at how hard they took slavery. It's one thing having a person of color run the land of the free - but an uncontrollable savage?"" full stop.
You mean the liberal and right-wing headlines? I guess.

Anyway, just finished watching the speech and...welp, it was a joke, just as I thought it'd be. The contrast between the Shinjar bit and Ferguson bit is like night and day (granted the former involves mass murders, it's a bit more grim over there). If I could travel back to 2008 to renege my vote, I'd do it. It's that bad.

It has been fascinating to see him basically become Bush in a different skin. Champion of a few social causes here and there, as a ruse distraction from the championing of big business corps, banks and the military establishment in the other corner. I understand a lot of this isn't necessarily just Obama's fault, but he's like the good cop to the bad cop that is Washington DC.

And if people criticize the good cops for not pressuring the bad ones to stop with their bullshit, I see no problem in criticizing Obama and his ilk in failing to act out more in ways that make other politicians and citizens a bit unease if it's for perfectly good and right-minded principles.

The specific mention of toxicology report makes me think he's praying that the report shows Brown was on a drug when he was murdered.

Yes, feign ignorance on the situation and reports of your own goddamn police force. That's certainly going to make you look better...

Not exactly the same concept.

I know, it's a poor choice of words from my part. I'm just talking about how they're not bothering to display actual judgment on the state of the crowd.

He already has the FBI and DOJ investigating, so I don't know what other actions can be expected of him. The state is already taking over the policing functions.

Then re need to reiterate this, or just give a status update. Anything of value, even if it's already been said, would be better than just making a bland idealistic statement. He didn't do anything wrong, but that was not a good use of his time.

Has there been any evidence that a cop in a similar situation has been harmed after their name and information was released?

Seems like a bullshit reason

Get him up out. He's fucking clueless and rightfully so, no idea what his dept is doing.

This.

This guy looks legit shook.

Its only a matter of time before Anon gets it right. But they need to be 100% certain they have the right name before releasing it.

It seems someone was just too eager to out somebody. Apparently they had about 4 names and were trying to narrow it down, but someone thought it'd be best to move ahead.

I love seeing this chief sweat bullets. He probably knows something was wrong on the police's end.

"You'll see a change in tactics."

Good to hear, though I hope with increased tensions in the past few days, people try not to be opportunistic and retaliate. Give one night of good, honest protesting and that'll spit in the face of the local PD more than anything.

He knows what Anonymous is doing but doesn't know what his own police force is doing?

Exactly. If he's asked a question about Anon he's direct and fluent. Any other question directed at him or the police tactics and he sweats bullets, stammers, and "I don't know"s.

Oh, could someone please re-cap this for me. I can see it but I don't have a way of hearing it right now. I'd love to know what's going on.

they are trying to get info for who arrested them and why. The cops are not giving them ANY information and basically are telling them to move the hell on.
