WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

Was this the Raw after Wrestlemania? guy is a ratings disaster.

the animations are fucking horrible

Yup. Looks like every other Yukes WWE game animation and bug wise. Think between the control changes and seeing the usual Yukes quality, I'm skipping this one like I have since 08. Someday there will be another good WWE game though. Someday.

Do we know anything about CAW yet? They can't possibly port all those PS2 textures and hairstyles again, right? It has to be new stuff... but that makes me worry it will be pretty barebones..

Loved seeing lawlers arm clipping through the laptop in the 2nd video. 2k were straight up full of shit it seems. It looks just like a typical yukes WWE game other then the models for the wrestlers.

I also find it funny that they give random wrestlers the Van Daminator. That move should only be exclusive to RVD. My mind was blown in SYM when you were able to finally do the move.

Collision detection and weapon physics, man.....*sigh*

I can't believe they're still using the canned contact points on move animations. That's one thing I always disliked about the Smackdown games that's been held over all this time. It makes it so that moves don't hit right and don't look right unless you hit someone exactly where the move is supposed to initiate the full animation. That's in contrast to AKI's system where you could hit people from the front, back, or sides with strikes and have an equally strong looking feedback animation no matter what, and KO animations that felt amazing when they happened.

The games have lost all sense of impact or speed ever since they went to full mo-cap. Such a difference from Lesnar or Goldberg's moveset in HCTP which rightfully looked and sounded like bombs going off in the ring.

Was it ever confirmed why THA dropped AKI?

I always thought it was because of the infamous save glitch No Mercy shipped with. Must have cost THQ a lot of money replacing all those carts.

One thing this series has always been lacking are chain reversals like the AKI and Fire Pro games. Its kinda annoying seeing a reversal being a low blow or a back elbow. I mean WCW vs NWO World Tour came out in 1997.

Wow that looks horrible. Really had some high hopes for this one but if that footage is any indication of how the final game is going to look then...pass

Wow looks fucking horrible. Same fucking shit. The wrestlers teleport into different moves and look at that replay glitch in the no holds barred video at the end lol. Please get rid of Yukes.

P.S. that pin bar minigame is fucking horrible.

This game looks like fucking shit. The devs should be ashamed. I'm not even joking. If you're reading this, your game looks like garbage and a game that came out 14 years ago plays better.

Don't care if it's mean to say this. Some people grew up playing great wrestling games and to see the only popular one stuck behind Yukes is so depressing and infuriating.

I'll go a step further. Yukes should be out of business. Pretty much any other studio could make a funner wrestling game. Even that crappy AAA game was more fun than what Yukes puts out.

Ridiculous responses here.

Here's positive observation--Notice in the Cena/Cesaro match how Cena pulls him to the center of the ring to do his suplex. Never seen that before in a wrestling game, it's a nice touch.

Damn, I'm glad I don't have standards like you guys. Looks fine to me...

You must have liked the previous games. It's more of the same shit with PS3 era graphics instead of PS2 era graphics we got on PS3. There don't seem to be any changes here to improve collision detection or the core gameplay except for more bullshit meter mini games.

I don't hate the previous games. I think that 2K can only do so much in one year's time, and they chose to go with a major graphical overhaul this year. Animations don't look great, but they are noticeably better than 2K14. You can still see some relics of old animation, but there are also new ones in there that look nice. I'm giving 2K the benefit of the doubt because it seems like they are on the right track. I think core gameplay is hard to judge from videos of people playing who don't know the systems. From all reports, they have changed it somewhat with the grappling and stamina stuff. As for collision detection, it definitely needs to be improved, but it isn't a game-breaking thing for me.

I'm going to be honest. There's about a 90% chance that I'll buy this year's game. Why? Because I've been binge-watching old wrestling programming via the WWE Network and want to play a wrasslin' game on my PS4.

That being said, after this year's game, I will undoubtedly go back to not purchasing WWE games because this crap still reminds me of the PS1 games. I don't think people's complaints are out-of-line. Yuke's is bad at making wrestling games. How they take steps forward and backward simultaneously, year after year, to come to a net of zero is baffling.

The collision detection is better though. In 2K14, ground strikes didn't even make contact yet it registered as a hit. Now they connect. It has looked terrible for years and now its fixed.

All the standing striking moves look considerably better as well with the recipient reacting to wherever on the body they were hit. Watch the Cena/Cesaro video.

It might not be groundbreaking stuff but it's a big improvement.

lol so much vitriol

making it an even more accurate representation of the current television product!

He is? Cause I recall the ratings for his segments being the highest every night leading into Wrestlemania and after.

triple h's segments

92 roster spots PLUS seperate tabs for downloadable, CAWs, divas, AND a blank (NXT?!) tab.

Let's figure this out...

After a rough count there's 78 guys (and 10 Divas) in the SuperCard game they just released. If we add in retro/classic versions of guys like Triple H, Taker, Cena, etc (Edit: also Punk who we know is in the game but not the card thing) it would round up to 92 pretty easily.

Of course that would mean Virgil is in the game and no version of Foley is.

All the new animations are impressive they are doing a good job of making this the most realistic wrestling game ever. They do need to work on the striking impact, though it is better even in 2k14. for example dropkicks and some clotheslines when hit from behind just as good as the AKI games. Ground strike impacts look great now,tho all of them werent terrible in 2k14 either. They are definitely improving . I do think AKI game had some great fluidity in spots but overall it lacked in other areas that Yukes excels in. Now that the gameplay is just as deep as the AKI games theres no going back for everyone but the very vocal minority that hates Yukes.

Why not download saves for Returns? The community actually has 2014 rosters of WWE and all of Japan's major promotions.

Is there a way to download a save for PCSX2, and merge it with your regular save? wouldnt want to lose my CAWs

The three visible tabs say "Created Superstars," "Downloaded Superstars," and "Managers." Based on the last few games, the blank tab is for Divas.

Hahaha I just noticed in the Orton vs Cesaro match a piece of the chair just starts floating in the air. By the way the weapon strikes are not connecting to the body at all, yet he is acting like he is getting hurt. Guess it does imitate real life.

Yep.

There's plenty of work to be done in the coming years, but for the first next-gen edition it's a much bigger leap than all the sports games bar, perhaps, NBA 2K14.

Dude, I don't hate Yuke's. I would love it if they made a great wrestling game and would give them credit if they did. But to me personally, there games play like crap. I wish that wasn't the case.

I saw the floating piece of chair immediately and was distracted by it for the rest of the match. >_>

Hahaha no. They finally made it look like a PS3 era game. That's a big leap? How is that an improvement over any other sports game that's out on next gen? Well, every other sports game on last gen didn't look PS2 level graphics wise, so I can see how you might think the leap is bigger.

Damn. Those first shots of the game with Cena and Orton made me believe. Now, after seeing some videos, I can see Yuke's dirty work all over the place.

I want to believe. I'll keep my pre-order for now..

Yeah that stuck right out to me, not only does it happen in the first few seconds of the video, it REMAINS floating there in mid-air for the duration of the match, even after the pinfall.

What the fuck?

Someone .gif that and make this go viral like the "Jesus Bynum" from NBA Elite.

ChairLegs Sees All.

The first time I watched, I was on my mobile phone so it wasn't as noticeable. Everything looks worse on a 27 inch monitor though. Jerry Lawler and Cole look really bad. This is PS3 level graphics. UFC on PS3 looks about as good as this and it has better hit and collision detection.

Hyperbole.

I think some people underestimate the complexity and amount of animations and development needed for a wrestling game far, far exceed pretty much any other sports game, so it's not fair to compare the animations here to, say, NBA 2K or UFC. And that is just with two guys. When you bump it up to 5 or 6, it gets that much more difficult to render and squash all the bugs. And develop systems. And make sure it has enough content. And decent online services. And fill out the modes. All of that on a one year dev cycle. Just because AKI made No Mercy, that doesn't mean they could make a great wrestling game by 2014 standards. Not saying what we've seen is perfect, but I think people drastically oversimplify the process of making a wrestling game.

Bullshit. Allstars was a great game and that studio's first attempt at a WWE game. It also had a funner story mode than any recent WWE game. They also made the TNA game before that, but even the TNA game was better than any recent Yuke's title. A good base can be built upon to get even better and better. Yukes is building off a pile of dog shit that has been sitting in the summer heat.
