Witcher 3 Collector's Edition getting exclusive physical content on XB1 [CDP Comment]

My instinct is to say that the other versions should be cheaper, but that isn't the case for Watch Dogs or Destiny on Xbox, so I can't reasonably do so.

The game won't sell as well due to the much smaller Xbox userbase, obviously, but the extra content might tempt a few who own both consoles to buy both or even opt for cloth and cards over technical superiority.

Meh, I never buy collectors editions anyway, but sucks for the PC fans that were thinking of buying this.

Maybe I want to buy it on ps4. Why suddenly for pc this sucks and not for ps4? I understand the origins of witcher is on pc but it sucks for every one who was thinking of buying collectors edition. Not just pc.

What about situations where, for instance, the PS4 version of a game runs at 1080p but the XBO version runs at 900p, yet they are the same price. Is that alright?

I'd assume it's part of their marketing agreement with Microsoft: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...ev-vows-no-exclusive-content-for-any-platform

Normally you get this in trade for exclusive in game content. Presumably they had to give them something, which is logical when someone is giving you money.

Probably not. They said from get go that they had a co-marketing deal with MS, so this is probably what that is. I'm sure MS wanted ingame content, CDPR probably objected to that, and they settled on some crummy playing cards.
Ah makes sense didn't realise they had a marketing agreement, and with the vow of no exclusive content guess this was the only logical conclusion for added bonus to the Xbox One version, wonder if they'll also add something to their standard editions.

Exclusive physical content?

I love the people in these threads bash MS for doing this when Sony has been doing the same exact thing. The most recent example is Destiny and that's actual in game content.

Exclusive physical content now, heh that's funny.

Anyway, not really a big deal. I'd find it hilarious if some people decided not to buy the game because of a few pieces of fluff that'll probably end up stored in a box sooner than later. Exclusive in game content is way way worse (see Ubi's games, Destiny).

that content is based on Sony ips though

Not all of the features. The Avenger kill feature is exclusive as well. I also don't really see why that matters. You are still paying the same amount of money for a game with less content. The fact that you made the content look like one of your own franchises doesn't make it any better to the people who can't get them in my opinion. Honestly, I don't really care because most DLC is throw away, but I like to argue.

This is hardly them falling in the mud. They vowed that they would never release exclusive in-game content and they have stuck by their guns. Even though MS let them on their stage at E3, which is a huge fucking thing for a dev like CDPR. I imagine erawsd is right in that MS wanted in-game content but CDPR refused. Although that's 100% conjecture.

Read Nirolak's link they don't specify ingame content. They say there will be content parity across all platforms. Technically this is physical content and it is not in every version of the game so they no longer have parity. Again I don't think this is wrong and they should be boycotted and I am not screaming about cancelling my preorder. I just think its funny that they acted like they were better than other companies who do this same thing.

Cloth map is a tradition of PC RPGs, back when the regular and only edition of the games came with a cloth map (Ultima being one of the most shinning examples).

It's a weird choice, it´s a thing that is going to be really noticeable and missed by PC RPG fans.

I agree with that, but theres no way MS or Sony would pay to get content based on their ips put into a game and let that same content go onto the rival console version. Didn't Steam have an exclusive character in the sega racing game too? I can't remember. I would never expect ips like that to be cross platform. As for the Avengers kill feature, havent heard of that, what is it?

I swear there was a thread once were a lot of people agreed that this kind of exclusive physical stuff was better than in game content.

Oh yes, this is MS though so anything exclusive is obviously awful.

/s

This is only for the collectors edition as well, it's only going to affect a very small amount of people.

Oh its a lot better than exclusive DLC I think if there is any real rage about this it will be because CDPR was talking about how they would treat every console as an equal even though they had a marketing agreement with Microsoft.

I assume they paid cdprojekt extra to come up with a new CE goody just for them? I don't remember seeing that deck in the original cdprojekt reveal.

If it's stuff that wouldn't have existed anyway isn't part of the game itself, kinda hard for me to get annoyed about it. Although it does make the pc/ps4 CE's lose lustre.
It think it's this case as well.

'As reported by Polygon, perhaps the most exciting new addition to the PS4 version is something called "Avenger Kills," a feature in which certain monsters can kill a player, level up, hop into their friend's game, then try to kill them too.

These monsters will spawn during special events where the skies darken and an announcement will tell the player that "[Insert friend's name here]'s Bane" has arrived. If you manage to defeat your friend's killer, both you and your friend it most recently slayed will get a piece of loot. If the monster kills you, it will level up further and find a friend of yours to hunt.'

The MS moneyhatting never stops. I hope the PS4 and PC versions get a discount now. For collectors out there, a cloth map is a big deal. Should be a petition to have the developers give a discount for an inferior CE

I didn't realise that was exclusive to the PS4 version. That's pretty lame.

Really? Really? Come on now... this is some extra stuff that any collector CAN BUY!

I'm an absolute sucker for cloth maps, so as stupid as this may sound, it actually makes the choice of which CE pre order to keep that much more difficult. D:

Of course not but it's on the Xbox One so... it's bad.
I'm starting to believe that's most certainly the case.

I'm finding it hard to care. Sometimes, business decisions can take precedence over a company's core principles.

The physical cards are just going to either sit in a drawer or collect dust for 99.9% of people who buy the Xbox One CE.

The cloth map would've been nice in the PC CE version though, but still, it's not a big deal. Shrug.

The CEs for all three platforms are likely going to have very limited runs. This is far more acceptable than exclusive in-game content for one platform...which would affect everyone who bought the game.

I'm still very happy with my decision to get the standard edition on GOG. DRM-free and already comes with a decent amount of nice digital goodies.

Honestly, there is already a huge "parity violation" when you compare the reg editions of the game.

PC version gets:

- 20% discount on the game
- Free copy of Never Winter Nights
- Beta Access to Winter Adventures
- Digital Artbook
- Free copy of the Soundtrack w/ exclusive tracks
- Free copy of the Digital comic
- Making of videos, Papercraft, Wallpapers
- Map

If I buy the reg game on console its $60 and you only get
- A Map
- Soundtrack
- Stickers

lol comments in this thread man. Hollyshit, Sony getting exclusive content for their games is fine? but this is not? what was that playable joker in Batman game? 1hr Watchdog content? additional AC missions, there is so many things, I don't even remember now.

But they get a map though.

Yeah but money hats!!!!

If you look carefully at the wording, you'll see its actually timed exclusive.

PC and PS4 players will receive their items via mail 6-8 months after launch.

Shame to hear... I bought the first 2 games on PC and was hoping to get the 3rd on PS4 (since I'll probably have one by that time and I'm betting my laptop won't be able to run this)... I love cloth maps too. CDPR is usually really good at being customer-friendly so that's disappointing, too.

hmm, that actually sounds like a good bit of dlc, though in time when player counts go down less useful and I suppose it could even annoy some players but it's an intresting feature. That i'm surprised is exclusive, i'd have thought something like that would be on the PC version already.

xbox one gamers still don't have Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition that was released for ps4 holiday 2013

As far as I know that wasn't a deal struck up to make it exclusive was it? Like they could release that on MS if they wanted to. It came out on PC anyway, the ultimate edition.
