PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Well, today I finally purchased a Vita. I've been planning on it for the past couple months and today I pulled the trigger. I got the last Slim BL2 bundle around here. I gotta say I'm very impressed with how it feels, very comfortable. Also, I've never actually held a Vita in my hand (2000 or 1000) so I was surprised by how big the screen looks, very impressed. I also have to mention how clutch PS+ is, I've got a bunch of games waiting for me, including retail games like Virtue's Last Reward, Gravity Rush, Murmasa and Uncharted, as well as indies like Hotline Miami and Limbo -- and there's a lot more than that saved up.

BTW, if anyone wants the BL2 code you can make me an offer of some sort. I've played both BL titles and while they're fine, I'm just not a huge fan personally, so I don't really have an itch for to play any more.

I don't know if I would call Hotline miami a top down shooter, but it is a fantastic game. I have not played the 3ds game though so I can't say anything about that.
In the end I decided for Hotline Miami and yeah, since the first couple of stages I realised my mistake by calling it just a 'shooter'.

Seems absolutely brilliant (I had some troubles to install the patch tho, but I read it's quite a common issue for Europe).

I've noticed that some prices on the Swedish SEN Store has been changed, games that cost 349 SEK now costs 369 such as NISA Vita games, FFX/X-2 etc, Rorona Plus now costs 359 when I paid 369 for it at "launch" and Totori now costs 369 (previously 349).
I assume it's some adjusting for currency exchange rates or something, but does anyone know if this stuff happens regularly? It's turning my world upside down.

Just finished Akiba's Trip. Now, I'm torn on whether I should get Disgaea 4 or Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1. I assume Disgaea is a much better game. It looks like a much more fleshed out RPG (and has a legacy of being a good series). Hyperdimension seems more like shallow/fun fan service.

I guess I could always just wait till next month to get Re;Birth1 since it's out at the end of August Whereas I can jump in to Disgaea now.

lol soo I basically answered my own question. OKAY well, is there anything else new coming out before Re;Birth1 that I should consider over Disgaea? I only have money for one more Vita title this month (had to spend a lot of my paycheck on a new tablet, since my old one broke. Will have a lot of money in Early Sept).

Play it how you want, but I just want to tell you that square is lock-on. :)

Disgaea 4's really good. I like me some Neptune games but would easily recommend Disgaea over it. I played the PS3 version, but the portable ports always, somewhat surprisingly, have solid improvements gameplay wise, extra characters and stories at the very least.

So my PS+ is up in 7 days. Can you all recommend anywhere I can get a discounted year subscription code?

Not sure what to tell you for immediate purchase, but I'd say get 1 year and keep an eye out on/around Black Friday, I got 2 years last year for $25 each. Might go ahead and add 2 years this year too, not like my PS consoles are going anywhere.

Change the bolded into a Persona 3 Remaster and I'm game :D! While I would love for Persona 5 to be on Vita, I just don't think that will happen due to the game not being able to run on Vita (they are using an in-house engine for that and so far it is only on PS3; there is a good chance that it will be a really looker for the PS3 :D). Still, would love to see Persona 5 happen on Vita :D.

Personally though, I would love Persona 3 to get a remasterd/golden edition for Vita :D. Mixing the best parts of FES and Portable versions, new content and social links + all the gameplay improvements and engine from P4G = one of the best remasters on Vita XD!

I love Persona 3, so revisiting that with perfected gameplay would be really nice :D.

Persona 4 The Golden turned me into a Persona fanatic, so I want remakes of the entire series on Vita! Give me an updated Persona 1 and 2 (which I've never played), using the P4G engine and mechanics, then give me Persona 3 remaster/upgrade (I own FES on my PS3, but am playing through P3P right now), and give me Persona 5 one day as well (although I'm still buying the PS3 version day one). I can't get enough Persona now, and am also amassing a collection of the Shin Megami games on my PS3, and I bought Shin Megami IV for my 3DS, but am saving it for after I beat Legend of Zelda and NSMB2 (I don't own many 3DS games, but I own an asston of Vita games I'm working my way through; currently Rogue Legacy, Akiba's Trip, which is so fucking odd and charming, and Soul Sacrifice Delta; I'm playing Dragon's Crown with my wife, so I've moved from Vita to PS3 with that one).

Maybe it's because I grew up in the 80's and 90's, but I love all of these Japanese games for the Vita. I guess it can suck that Western devs have dropped the platform, but as a fan of Japanese game design also, and these indie games as well, I can't say I feel the same negativity surrounding the Vita's future. The list of games hitting it that I'm very, very interested in, from indie to bigger, is rather extensive, not to mention my absurd backlog.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment next Week (?) :)

Already have that imported (Honk Kong version w/ English subtitles). But thanks for the reply.

Thanks. I think I'll just go with Disgaea. Unless something else is out next week. I'll get Neptunia first week of Sept.

Hi folks. I've got a question. Back in April, Amazon was selling PSN versions of Fatal Frame 1 & 2 super cheap, so I bought 'em even though I didn't have a PS3 at the time but knew I'd have access to one in the future. Cut to today, where I finally have one, and I tried entering in the codes for the games but it says the code is incorrect or no longer valid. Did I miss my chance to redeem the codes? How long do they usually last? Is there anything I can do to get the games, since I never redeemed the original codes? It wouldn't be a huge loss to buy them again since they're still cheap, but I'd rather not pay for 'em twice if I can help it. Thanks!
Anybody know? Thanks.

Don't think the old VitaGAF PSN ID google doc has been posted in a while. Quote to reveal the URL. Feel free to add yourself to the list, or send friend requests to anyone on the list.

Added, Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds is possibly the only Vita game I'll be playing online atm though

I like you, i share your exact sentiments.

The Vita <3

I bought Soul Sacrifice, and it simply wasn't my type of game, let it go

Two different games.

I haven't played this but I want to recommend you this

I honestly forgot about that Call of Duty game.

It is an amazing console quality Cod game that fully copies the formula that everyone loves from consoles :D!

It is an mediocre shooter that doesn't have a ton of content. If anything, its voucher for the PSP Cod game is the best part about it XD!

Isn't that awful? I thought KZ Mercenary was basically the first and possibly the last "proper" FPS that feels truly at home on Vita.

When good people frequently pass up on good offers on good games that are meant to be played once in a life, they deserve to be recommended worst of all games at worst price ever.

Man I am finding delta really hard to pass up at that price. But there are so many other things I want to buy/play, and I would have to play through the original game again because I don't still have my save. And while I really really wish there was a japanese voice pack for Delta, I would honestly settle for a DLC that muted all of Librom's english lines. Why did the japanese voice have such a cool male/female combo voice but the english version went with a nasaly annoying guy?

Edit: Praise the lord almighty looks like they added a japanese voice pack for delta! Bought and downloading without a second thought, hopefully I can play online tethering my phone connection!

Pray tell, Gaffers in your opinion should I bag SMT DDS 1, 2 and P4 at their current price or wait for a flash sale like with P3FES?

Know this that I will not play them prior to Dec at the earliest.

Got a PlayStation 4 today! The Last of Us Remastered bundled.

And EBGames had a sale, anyone buying a PS4 could choose between:

- Far Cry 4
- The Order: 1886
- Driveclub
- Little Big Planet 3
- NHL 15

And get 30$ off for pre-ordering it. So I'm getting The Order on Day 1 for almost half the price.

Man , I'm actually getting kinda depressed. Tapejara hasn't bought P4G or Tearaway, but he has bought Angry Birds Star Wars for Vita.

We're talking about Persona 4 now?
I'd like to reccomend this English dub of Never More (credits song) then.

And you guys shit on me for MONTHS about Tearaway >__>

I'll get them eventually. And then I'll play that VN Flandy keeps bugging me about.

Lol, I haven't seen this doc in a long time; I should update my played games.

Atlus stuff goes on sale every other week, and they'll definitely go cheaper between now and then. I'd wait.
