Yeah, his boldness had been a big part of his character since he first appeared.
And to be fair, all of the airbenders were damselled, not just Jinora.
Yep felt it alot as wellAfter watching that episode, I can feel theplot twist coming. Great fights in this episode.Suyin Hail Red Lotus

So if there HAD to be a Deus Ex Machina to end season 3, how would you want/expect it to go down?

If it was just the one time, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but she has already been damselled twice. Once when the Dai Li Drill Sargeant grabbed her, and Kai was specifically the one to save her from this, and the second when the poachers kidnapped her, where again, Kai leads the assault on the guys who took his woman away.
Now it's happening again, when it really should be Jinora who confronted the people trying to kill her father. She's the one who is actually experienced in fighting and I think that should count for a lot more than 'boldness'.

true, but it still fits his character then. even if it anoys you![]()
jinora is well more reversed and to say she is more expirienced in fighting is a gues. she is trained in bending, but i bet her experience is rather lacking. kai's past seemed rather troubled so he should be more experienced. (not bending ofc but fighting in general)
and damn, think about the situation they are in, jinora is paniking and afraid. :O
that said. For her characterprogression, specially after all this "i am an airbending master too." talk, it would be helpfull and id like to see more from her.
I am really bothered by the fact that Korra lost communication with her past lives, and all she does is whine about it. How about try to find out how to regain that power, knowledge and wisdom instead of wishing she could talk to them.
At the beginning of this season, Korra showed that she is training with becoming more spiritual, and that showed character development. I wonder if Korra will ever communicate with the spirits and get knowledge from them like Aang did. She could have spoke to some spirits in the spirit world about how to regain her past lives back. Some of them might know. It really annoys me how oblivious she is to the world around her. It seems the White Lotus are useless in teaching the Avatar these kind of essential things, about spirituality, her connection with the spirits (she is the gateway between the real world and spiritual world), and about no creating a conflict. As far as i am concerned Korra declared war on the earth kingdom by taking her citizens in spite of her. Yeah, that might not seem like a fair critic, but that is essentially what Korra did.
Korra is not welcomed in Republic City, or the Earth kingdom. Korra cannot afford to piss of country leaders, or the only places that she will have left are North and South pole because of her family heirloom. She won´t be able to maintain balance if she keeps getting alienated by leaders of different countries.
Zaheer is right about how the WL have strayed from their original paths.
As far as the title of this book "Change" i want to see changes in Korra, WL going back to their original purpose, or be dissolved, character development for the rest of the Krew.
Some criticisms are about writing inconsistancies, others are whether a piece of wriitng is conceptually problematic. This is the latter. It's not out of character, but all of Kai's heroic moments have essentially been at the expense of Jinora's agency and capability. If this isn't necessarily bad writing, then it's still not the progressive, forward thinking, and empowering writing that TLA had plenty of. And it's repetitive, since this has happened 3 times at this point. If circumstances are going to keep Jinora needing to be saved, then the smart thing to do would be to just keep her in a room where she can stay away from the action. Bonus sexism points if that room is the kitchen.
i don't know if its been discussed before but whatever, the thing I don't like about korra is that she erased all past avatars. like what a fuck up. Now how will I ever see Wan again? pls writers, let her get the past avatars again and give me a wan cameo.
Getting rid of the past avatars is actually pretty bold from a writing standpoint. I hope they stick with it but if there is anything in the series likely to get retconned it would be that.
As far as character deaths are concerned out of all the main cast members it makes the most sense for Tenzin to get the axe if anyone at all. His training with Korra is complete and killing him would have the largest implications
As far as Su is concerned, it makes little to no sense she would be Red Lotus. It would be a pretty lame twist unless the Red Lotus was much much larger than what we were led to believe. She is just too new a character and the implications of her being Red Lotus does not match up at all with her putting her family and city in jeopardy.
Also, Tenzin isn't dead...yet.
Her training is complete? It took her 10+ yrs to master water, fire, and earth.

Nope. I assume he married Suki and maybe has descendants until said otherwise. They already ruined my zuko relationship.Completely random question, has it ever been said if Sokka ever gets married/has kids?

Knowing this show, he grew up to be a wife better and has kids with a bunch of women.Nope. I assume he married Suki and maybe has descendants until said otherwise. They already ruined my zuko relationship.

You know.... that's a depressing thought haha.Knowing this show, he grew up to be a wife better and has kids with a bunch of women.
They weren't as a whole, but the set ups were pretty clumsy. Yue in particular was just created to be a sacrifice the episode before. Meanwhile, the spirit water katara carried around wasn't mentioned the whole season except for in the finale, so it was just created to bring aang back. When a plot device is just there to reverse some problem in the plot, it comes off as artificial and inorganic, even if it was set up beforehand. Can someone remind me how ATLA season 1 and 2 finales were Deus Ex Machinas?Human Revolution
It's not bold at all. She barely talked to her past lives to begin with.Getting rid of the past avatars is actually pretty bold from a writing standpoint. I hope they stick with it but if there is anything in the series likely to get retconned it would be that.

I know, that's what I meant. It was given the first episode for season 2, ignored for 19 episodes, then it became relevant the moment aang life is in danger, aside from the zuko moment that happened in the same episodeActually, Pakku gives the spirit water to Katara at the beginning of Season 2's first episode.
I know, I'm just saying it would look better if it was implemented more organically. It's called Chekov's Gun. If you mention something, you have to use it.
