PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Yes, I have a review copy.

I won't go into detail about it regarding something not already mentioned by someone else 'til Tuesday, if that's what you're looking for.

Not sure what you mean, I was just wondering how you guys could confirm the picture above.

Can you confirm if the line near the start, from the asian version:

This will confirm if it is the same as the asian version or not.

Didn't the Asian Version recently get a patch that changed some of the translation? It's still bad but fixed in some places, you'd need a line of dialogue from that update to compare.

Kayos has been playing a review copy in the OT and said the translation is fine, no penetrations in sight.

From what someone else said, penetration is still used plenty like this, the patch just fixed some grammar errors

Then we know that the script was cleaned up. Just not enough.

Pretty sure it didn't say penetrations, but as I didn't screenshot it I can't be 100% positive. I can confirm that there are differences however.

Played some Soul Sacrifice Delta and it seems kinda shallow and boring. Each mission lasts literally 3 minutes and all comprise of the same combat, which is a bit dull. Monster Hunter this is not. Does it get better?
I don't know, what you described can also apply to early-game MH (except for the 3 minute missions, which do get longer).

Amazing.

Hey PS/vitagaf. Do we have a timeline for PSNow on vita? I'm wondering how plausible it is that I could replace my PS3 entirely. My only perpetual NEED ps3 exclusive games are dark souls and the Ico/SotC collection. I guess there's some PSN stuff that I would miss though, like the PSN megaten games and Okami HD.

You could only replace your PS3 entirely with PSNow if you are very rich. Seeing as 90 day rentals are something like $15 and that is the maximum, if you want any games at all perpetually it is going to quickly cost more than a PS3 would. They really need to come up with a better pricing model or some kind of subscription.

That said, while I drool at the prospect of Dark Souls on my vita, I don't see how it would work that well. L1 and L2 are both equally important that I couldn't really see either of them being successful mapped to the back touch screen.

Oh man you referenced the exact reason I am really enjoying SS:D. I love that the missions are quicker and that I can finally use CQC and not feel like a shitbox. Anyway, I am of the opinion that time to complete a pact should be proportional to type of enemies fought. The pacts with small easy enemies should be quick, but bosses and big dudes should be a bit longer. Which is exactly what I experienced in SS, with the first few pacts being quick and that pumpkin guy first "boss" taking a while longer.

You can't replace a PS3 with PSNow. You can't even access the PSN content you already bought, you have to "rent" it. It's completely stupid.

The isshak guy, saying that the west would see a different translation.

It is a different translation, for worse.
I've just finished the
Carnatux missions after the Ordeal intro.
I'm digging the story and general vibe of the world, but the gameplay is getting me down. I'm guessing it gets better?
It will get better, in terms of selection of magics and combination you will be able to pull off.

It's different, but has similar issues with regards to grammar, spelling and word choice. Looks like they may have used the Asian English version as a base to work off.

The fact that it still uses backtics as apostrophes definitely proves that the Asian script was used as base.

That kind of error is typical for Asians (they don't understand that backtics aren't apostrophes) but not something a western localization staff would do.

I guess I watch enough bad translations of anime that I wouldn't have even taken note of it while playing seeing any of the things posted thus far. It would be just like the localizations of NES/SNES days!

This isn't a good thing and it really shouldn't be okay. Especially when they're charging such a premium price for the game here.

Oh I am definitely not saying it is a good thing, I am more commenting on how easy it is to get used to poor quality when you are exposed to enough of it, which is only a bad thing. Though to be perfectly honest I would prefer this game come out in NA with a bad translation than not at all, which I guess makes me part of the problem, but so be it.

Honestly, I'm ~5h in and other than laughing at a few of them for how they went wrong, I haven't really even given it a thought. It definitely hasn't had a negative effect on my gameplay experience, so I'm not seeing a big deal here.

Of course, though being that I like to complete a game before I review it, I might not be posting it on Tuesday. haha.

If so, don't forget, you have 2 areas to complete :) Hollow Area (do it before you complete the Floor Clearing stuff so you can face a secret boss :) ) and the Floor Clearing sections.

Both have their own credits as well.

The script isn't bad. Granted it's a bit awkward at times but for the most part it's a competent review with very few problems. Some punctuation bullshit and phrasing aside.

Bandai Namco's probably going to drop the English translation of ToHR into the iOS port. I imagine that'll ensure a localization that isn't completely trash.

I meant the localization from the demo shown a few months ago.

Tbf, that's also pretty early on.

And personally the conversation text wasn't that bad, my main issue with that was the attack names which were pretty awful. I like to think Sony is helping with this (due to JRPGVita stuff) and that is why it shows even more sloppily than any of the console titles.

They translated engrish translation to grade 1 english.

baekshi how long would it take me to get to a reasonable enough level/skill in SSD to do group shit with you?

100+ hours. No platinum, no party.

So guys want to help me with alice tonight?

You can't really judge the game with how little you play it. The pacts get harder later on.

That's your problem you get no benefit from doing them unless you like the world.

sent!

I'm still recovering from jet lag. I might fall asleep in the middle. >.>

Good enough!

I forgot the SAO game was coming out this week. Everything I've read paints it as a good JRPG (I've seen mentions of FF12 which REALLY caught my attention) but there are also waifus and I hate most of the SAO 'heroines'. But Sinon seems great and there's a character voiced by Sachika Misawa so now I feel obligated to buy it because she needs more roles. Pls.

CounterSpy didn't do well in previews last year, specifically IGN's preview from gamescom 2013. The game was delayed from it's 2013 release so Dynamighty could polish it, but the initial criticisms still make me kind of wary.

I'm concerned about Counterspy, too. I like the art style, but some of the previews (like the one you quoted) worry me.

I hope they aren't holding back reviews until the release date in an effort to gain blind preorders. If there were a few early reviews from reputable sources, then I'd probably have prerordered the game. Instead, the overall lack of reviews is causing me to keep my money in my pocket.

For all of the times that they've done the PSN Play promotions over the last few years, I think this is the first time that I haven't bothered to get any of the games.
