I'm no fan of President Obama, but you do realize he only has so much power right? He can't just decide on a whim he wants a person arrested. The only thing he can do is ask the justice department to investigate, which they are. Short of that and calling the Governor to express his opinion, there isn't much else he can do.

The justice department will do nothing. Justice will never be found.

How does he reform the police? Last time I checked the DoJ and FBI were investigating. If they can't find grounds necessary to charge this officer what should they do? Make stuff up? Should they just say forget a trial and due process and throw him in prison right now?
No, but strip him of his badge would do.
You know, when people call him a tyrant, they still mean it more metaphorically than literally for now.
Yes.

G20 riots, G8 riots, my sports team lost riots...

I remember in Boulder while I was visiting for a summer one time they rioted because the police said they could no longer burn couches in the middle of the street.

OH NO HE HAD WEED IN HIS SYSTEM.

Unfortunately that will be used to make it seem as though he was superhuman and a horrible human being.

While Case declined to comment further, citing the ongoing investigation into Brown’s death, another person familiar with the county’s investigation told The Washington Post that Brown had between six and eight gunshot wounds and was shot from the front.

In addition, Brown had marijuana in his system when he was shot and killed by a police officer on Aug. 9 in Ferguson, according to this person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.
Seems like they could have narrowed the gun shot wound number down a bit, but I'm no expert.

The powers that be like those lines between black and poor, It keeps us all fighting against each other instead of together. Imagine if all the poor white people in the south who are diehard republicans realized they've been voting against their own self interest for decades.

But the solution to this problem is not related to poverty, it's having more black people in the police forces, a lot more. Brown could have been a rich rapper, he would have still gotten shot to death.

To note:

"Crump [The Family's Attorney] said he didn’t know anything about marijuana being found in Brown’s body."

The information in that article 'leaked' from the St. Louis County prosecutors office and hasn't been made public.
Doesn't matter if it's a lie. Racists will believe it anyway.

"Marijuana in his system" could be from up to 30 days before the autopsy depending on the test.

It's in no way indicative he was actively under the influence, but that's probably how they'll try to paint it.

That's why it's included in the headline. It's already being spun that way.

I think we need some expert testimony on this new information:
MR. ANSLINGER: It is only in the last two years that we have a report of seizures anywhere but in the Southwest. Las year, New York State reported 195 tons seized, whereas before that I do not believe that New York could have reported one ton seized.

Let me quote from this report to the League of Nations:

This discussion disclosed that, from the medical point of view in some countries the use of Indian hemp in its various forms is regarded as in no way indispensable and that it is therefore possible that little objection would be raised to drafting limitations upon medical use of derivatives.

That is only last year.

Here is what Dr. J. Bouquet, hospital pharmacist at Tunis, and inspector of pharmacists at Tunis, says. He is the outstanding expert on cannabis in the world. He says:

To sum up, Indian hemp, like many other medicaments, has enjoyed for a time a vogue which is not justified by the results obtained. Therapeutics would not lose much if it were removed from the list of medicaments.
That comes from the greatest authority on cannabis in the world today.

MR. MCCORMACK: What are its first manifestations, a feeling of grandeur and self-exaltation, and things of that sort?

MR. ANSLINGER: It affects different individuals in different ways. Some individuals have a complete loss of sense of time or a sense of value. They lose their sense of place. That have an increased feeling of physical strength and power.

Some people will fly into a delirious rage, and they are temporarily irresponsible and may commit violent crimes.
Other people will laugh uncontrollably. It is impossible to say what the effect will be on any individual. Those research men who have tried it have always been under control. They have always insisted upon that.

MR. MCCORMACK: Is it used by the criminal class?

MR. ANSLINGER: Yes, it is. It is dangerous to the mind and body, and particularly dangerous to the criminal type, because it releases all of the inhibitions.

I have here statements by the foremost expert in the world talking on this subject, and by Dr. Cutter a noted and distinguished medical man in this country.

(The statements referred to are as follows:)

(From the report by Dr. J. Bouquet, Tunis, to the League of Nations)

Does Indian hemp (Cannabis Sativa) in its various forms give rise to drug addiction?

The use of cannabis, whether smoked or ingested in its various form, undoubtedly gives rise to a form of addiction, which has serious social consequences (abandonment of work, propensity to theft and crime, disappearance of reproductive power).

From the Washington Post, Nov. 23, 1936

I'm not sure this will work either, in terms of changing the narrative. If they didn't fall for it with the robbery stuff, I doubt the media will push this too hard. They want a win. That win is getting Wilson charged.

The audacity of even mentioning that to the reporting is sickening because it's so very clear what the county examiner is attempting. We'll still have droves of fools saying "well now, this changes everything..."

EDIT: Misread and thought the examiner told the Washington Post about the marijuana themselves.

Who cares? You know how many people in the US smoke weed? Still doesn't justify death. The officer needs to be arrested.

More people than ever support the legalization of weed here in the US.

It'll just make the racists more certain that Brown was a crazed black man who needed to be put down.
