You all need to brush up on your science. It's a proven fact that marijuana has different biological effects for minorities, especially ones from low-income areas. The marijuana juices are metabolized in a similar way to PCP and six lines of cocaine, causing the person of color to scarily "wil' the fuck out" and become a serious danger to civilized society.

If anybody is wondering, there's a bill awaiting Gov. Nixon's signature to decriminalize pot possession from a Class A misdemeanor (fine + up to a year in jail) to a Class D (possible fine).

http://legiscan.com/MO/text/SB491/id/1014946

The offense of possession of more than ten grams but less than 36 grams of marijuana or any synthetic cannabinoid is a class A misdemeanor.

The offense of possession of not more than 10 grams of marijuana or any synthetic cannabinoid is a class D misdemeanor. If the defendant has previously been found guilty of any offense to the laws related to controlled substances of this state, or of the United States, or any state, territory, or district, the offense is a class A misdemeanor.

Only bring this up to help illustrate how much of a non issue this should be in Missouri specifically.

The bill in question also had wide bipartisian support.
http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2014/05/new_marijuana_laws_are_small_s.php
The bill passed unanimously in the Senate (32-0) and overwhelmingly in the House (130 to 12).

But I suppose just mentioning that Brown had marijuana in his system is supposed to mean something to certain people who already made up their minds about how much of a thug is supposed to be. Confirmation bias and all that.

Weed in his system is somehow gonna turn him into a crazed violent criminal? FFS what is this shit? The police are so fucking desperate.

but they don't need to be running with information like this from a source unless they're 100% sure that the source isn't spreading FUD.
Wow, set some impossible standards why don't you? You probably wanted them to go over to Iraq and check for WMD's themselves before reporting it.

What...? Washingtonpost is alright. You're thinking of Washington Times.
Richard Cohen of Washington Post has written far more blatantly racist articles about these types of situations than I've ever seen at Fox News.

As a whole Washington Post is alright, but they definitely have a few really bad apples.

known as "beast mode" (as it is called by violent loud mouthed thug athletes), this cannabis drug rage involves becoming the earthly avatar of ancient tribal witch-gods, impervious to flinching and granting a +5 to defense and offense

Get this bullshit out of here. White people smoke and become calm and thoughtful. It's funny.

Blacks smoke and, due to a volatile reaction between THC and fast twitch muscle fibers, become very violent and even faster and stronger than usual.

Seems legit

While we're making outlandish claims based on nothing, I should point out that police are lucky homie wasn't Asian and drunk too I guess.

I genuinely hope this at least pushes for some reform to put more cameras on policemen. Not a perfect solution, but damn it'd be something.
Probably won't change a thing.

Why should police have to lose their privacy?

We should be putting cameras on marijuana addicts like Michael Brown.

I mean, I'd probably give the head of the armed forces in America a heads up if I was calling in the armed forces in America to protect police from Americans.
Governors are the commanders-in-chief of their State's National Guard unless the President takes that authority from them.

I didn't realize. I'm not super familiar with them.

I didn't realize that. *the more you know*

Hey no need to be snippy. :p

:lol

Regardless of authority though, I'd probably send Obummer an e-mail about it.

"Hey Bams,

Going to call in National Guard. No worries, we have this under control.

Thanks,
Gov. "Rock Wit Me" Nixon"

Im getting bo jackson from tecmo bowl vibes from this.

Black people are the opposite color of white people so the marijuana effects them in an opposite way. This science tip brought to you by the White Supremacists Science Foundation.

I've just been on reddit.
I couldn't tell if this was sarcasm or not.
Also why did the guy have to smoke it dammit, this is gonna set back the agenda!

No seriously this case and the post events are crazy.

Uh, cameras usually HELP police rather than hurt them because the number of false complaints shrink because there is now evidence. Quite literally the only people who should be against cop cameras are cops with something to hide.

Edit: Nevermind. This is what happens when you only look at this page every few hours.

I'm sure that someone from the St. Louis prosecutor's office told them about the MJ... but they don't need to be running with information like this from a source unless they're 100% sure that the source isn't spreading FUD.

I think most Americans are familiar enough with marijuana to know that it doesn't make you do shit like attack cops for no reason. Also, at trial, the med. examiner will testify that weed can stay in your system for like a month and still be detected. No biggie.

The guy you are referring to is an opinion columnist and not a reporter or journalist. His opinion pieces have no overlap or affect on the reporting of the newspaper. This would be like saying the NYT's reporting is garbage because they used to employee Bill Kristol.

"I used to think it was clever to confuse comedy with tragedy. Now, I wish I could distinguish them."

:(

Let's just generally reign in the sarcasm. It's very difficult for moderators to tell the difference between a cleverly crafted Poe's Law post and a post that really needs a ban.

Couldn't he have gone over to Colorado, where it's legal, smoked a joint and come back?

I don't see why it's relevant.

I get what you're going for, but it wouldn't be impossible for someone to spin that as him knowingly doing something that was federally illegal and illegal in his home state, of which he'd be returning to.

Not saying it makes sense, but I can imagine there's ways to spin it regardless of its irrelevancy.
