Well in the JP version of
Magicant, he was nude.
In the Japanese version of Earthbound,
Ness is naked in Magicant. Not completely naked mind you, he's still got his hat!
No crazy alien tech could fit a human inside unless it's morphing the human...which clearly explains what happened to Samus in Smash! It's all perfectly reasonable. =D
Mario's USA outfit is on the packaging for the 3DS download card so that'll be in both versions.
I don't see version exclusive colors/alts happening

The comment seems to suggest all costumes are the same.
Someone could double check the Japanese, but I assume "You can use the same outfit variations in both the 3DS and Wii U versions." doesn't just apply to today's image but outfits in general.
GUESS WHO WILL LIKELY HAVE A PAJAMAS ALT
And maybe just go nude in the Japanese version, I dunno

No character was cut for this (or any) costume. The roster was probably decided before alts were even on the table.

Nah, that's gonna be Kirby's costume once Ryu debuts.
I feel it's cool to have it back but I'd be completely disappointed if that meant no new Metroid stages on 3DS
Eh. I'm not mad, but I'd rather have Brinstar Depths. I don't really like any of the Metroid stages, but that one is fun sometimes.
Four games in a row is one hell of a streak; the only other multiplayer stage with a chance of making it is the Great Fox (Sector Z, Corneria, etc.).
Really would have preferred something new, or at least a less-tired veteran like Brinstar Depths.
Already did, has a version of it on the Wii U. If Corneria or Sector Z makes it onto the 3DS, it'll actually be in all 5 Smashes.

Just there, honestly, I never really enjoyed the Metroid stages much.
I feel there can be so much potential!Maybe they will get it for you, but they'll probably take you to planet Zebes before, just so you can experience intergalactic bounty hunter's actual work firsthand.

I'm holding out for Wolf, R.O.B., and Ivysaur. Three of my Brawl mains, and I feel like they're all slightly at-risk.
What is more worrying is that they have only been shown on 3ds....
I hope 3ds doesn't get all melee stages while Wii U gets like all Brawl ones.....
It's ok. Ridley is also playable.
